NCT ID: NCT04778072 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Iron Deficiency Anemia

A Clinical Study on Adherence and Efficacy of Different Doses of Active Iron in Treatment Resistant Subjects

Start date: October 8, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

A randomized, placebo controlled, parallel group, double blind study to compare the 3-month adherence and efficacy of Active Iron in subjects with or at-risk of iron deficiency and a history of intolerance to oral iron. Subjects with intolerance and treatment failure due to oral iron (male and female subjects, aged 18 to 55 years, with mild to moderate iron deficiency, with or without anaemia) are eligible. Sixty subjects are randomised into three groups (14 mg elemental iron, 25mg elemental iron and 50mg elemental iron daily). The primary objective is to assess adherence/persistence (including using pill counts). Secondary objectives are to assess gastrointestinal tolerability, haematological efficacy and health related quality of life.

NCT ID: NCT04777409 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Early Alzheimer´s Disease

A Research Study Investigating Semaglutide in People With Early Alzheimer's Disease (EVOKE Plus)

Start date: May 18, 2021
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This study is done to find out whether the medicine, semaglutide, has a positive effect on early Alzheimer's disease. Participants will either get semaglutide or placebo (a "dummy" medicine which does not contain any study medicine) - which treatment participants get is decided by an equal chance. The study will last for up to 173 weeks (about 3 years and 4 months). Participants will have 17 clinic visits and 1 phone call with the study doctor. The study includes various tests and scans. At 10 of the clinic visits participants will have blood samples taken. Participants must have a study partner, who is willing to take part in the study. Women cannot take part if pregnant, breastfeeding or plan to become pregnant during the study period. A cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) sub-study will be performed as a part of the study. The sub-study will be performed on a selection of sites based on their experience with CSF sampling and willingness to participate in this sub-study. The endpoints related to this sub-study are exploratory only.

NCT ID: NCT04766372 Active, not recruiting - Exercise Clinical Trials

A Multi-component Physical Activity Intervention for Adolescent Girls

Start date: November 30, 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

A four-arm randomised pilot trial involving: 1. Physical activity programme only - live exercise sessions, social support, standardised text messages 2. Individual behaviour change support only - regular one-to-one video calls with an activity mentor 3. Combined - Physical activity provision and individual behaviour change support 4. Usual care control All groups will be provided with a menu of physical activities. Objectives. To conduct a RE-AIM evaluation of a 6-month multi-component PA intervention for adolescent girls, through investigating: - Who the intervention reaches, how representative they are for the population (Reach, Adoption) and who is most likely to benefit from the intervention (Reach); - The extent to which the intervention is delivered as intended (Implementation), and factors that affect this (Adoption); - Preliminary impact on participants' PA, sedentary behaviour, cardiovascular fitness and psychological wellbeing at 3, 6 and 12 months (Effectiveness, Maintenance); - The qualitatively examine the acceptability of the intervention for adolescent girls, and identify necessary refinements; - To gather data to inform a sample size calculation for a main trail

NCT ID: NCT04764448 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Alpha 1-Antitrypsin Deficiency

Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This is a multiple dose, randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind study of belcesiran to evaluate the safety, tolerability, PK, and PD in adult patients with PiZZ AATD-associated liver disease (AATLD). The study will be conducted in 3 separate cohorts. A total of up to 16 participants may be enrolled in Cohort 1 and 2. A total number of 30 subjects will be enrolled in cohort 3. The 3 cohorts are differentiated by the duration of the treatment period, the number of doses administered, and the timing of the second liver biopsy.

NCT ID: NCT04762108 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Sjogren's Syndrome Childhood-onset

Paediatric Sjögren Syndrome Cohort Study and Repository (PaedSSCoRe)

PaedSSCoRe
Start date: January 11, 2020
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

Sjögren syndrome (SS) in adults is characterised by inflammation of the exocrine glands, principally the salivary and lacrimal glands resulting in xerostomia (dry mouth) and xerophthalmia (dry eyes). It can also present with more extensive exocrinopathy as well as extra-glandular, systemic features. SS is defined as primary SS (pSS) when it occurs in isolation, and as secondary SS, if associated with other autoimmune conditions. The incidence and prevalence rates of SS vary depending on the population. To date, there have been no studies reporting accurate incidence or prevalence of SS in childhood. Childhood onset SS defined as disease diagnosed before 18 years of age is believed to be rare; however, it is likely it is under-recognised and therefore under-diagnosed. The overarching aim of this study is to identify epidemiological, clinical and laboratory characteristics of paediatric SS in a United Kingdom (UK) multi-centre cohort of patients. Using this data our goal is to develop universally accepted classification criteria that could be validated for use in a paediatric population. Inclusion criterion for the study and repository is a diagnosis of SS made before 18 years by the referring physician. A data collection pack will be sent to authors willing to participate. Information collected will include but not exclusive to: demographic, clinical and laboratory/histological data at diagnosis and subsequent follow-up appointments. Biological samples including blood, tears, saliva, urine and glandular and extra-glandular (e.g. renal) tissue will be collected prospectively if available. Outcome measures related to disease activity and damage, as well as patient reported outcomes will also be collected at set time points (every 6 months) and during flares. PaedSSCoRe will capture data on a significant cohort of children with SS providing a powerful resource to help improve our understanding of the pathogenesis and natural course of this disease. Prospective data collection will allow a fuller analysis of poor prognostic features, impact of therapy and damage accrual, and variable outcome of childhood SS.

NCT ID: NCT04736706 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Carcinoma, Renal Cell

A Study of Pembrolizumab (MK-3475) in Combination With Belzutifan (MK-6482) and Lenvatinib (MK-7902), or Pembrolizumab/Quavonlimab (MK-1308A) in Combination With Lenvatinib, Versus Pembrolizumab and Lenvatinib, for Treatment of Advanced Clear Cell Renal Cell Carcinoma (MK-6482-012)

Start date: April 14, 2021
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of pembrolizumab plus belzutifan plus lenvatinib or pembrolizumab/quavonlimab plus lenvatinib versus pembrolizumab plus lenvatinib as first-line treatment in participants with advanced clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). The primary hypotheses are (1) pembrolizumab plus belzutifan plus lenvatinib is superior to pembrolizumab plus lenvatinib with respect to progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS), in advanced ccRCC participants; and (2) pembrolizumab/quavonlimab plus lenvatinib is superior to pembrolizumab plus lenvatinib with respect to PFS and OS, in advanced ccRCC participants.
