Advanced Point-of-care Technology During In-home Assessment Among Older Adults

Due to ageing-related physiological changes, diagnosing older adults is challenging. Delayed disease recognition lead to adverse health outcomes and increased hospitalisation, which is why there is a need to develop new procedures for timely diagnosis and treatment of older adults. Point-of-care technology, e.g. focused lung ultrasound scan and bedside analysis of blood samples (leucocytes with differential count, electrolytes and creatinine) carried out in the patients' home may support clinical decision-making, and potentially reduce acute hospital admissions. The trial's overall aim is to investigate whether increased point-of-care technology, i.e. focused lung ultrasound scan and bedside blood analysis, used as in-home diagnostics in older adults with acute respiratory symptoms, can qualify the general practitioner's clinical decision-making for early treatment initiation and eventually reduce acute hospital admission.

However, the real-world effectiveness of influenza vaccination is limited by its uptake. This study will investigate investigate whether digital behavioral nudges delivered via the official, mandatory Danish electronic letter system can increase influenza vaccine uptake among eligible influenza vaccination candidates.

Cabergoline as a Preventive Treatment for Chronic Migraine

Headache disorders constitute a major global disease burden, and migraine - with a one-year prevalence of 15 % - is the sixth most disabling condition. Though a common disease, the pathogenesis is still unclear. Thus, the treatments have different mechanisms of action and preventive treatments are only effective in approximately 50% of chronic migraine patients. Recent evidence from mice models and a study of prolactine-associated headaches have indicated that dopamine agonists such as cabergoline might be used as a treatment of migraine. The aim of this study is to test the hypothesis that the dopamine agonist cabergoline can be used as a treatment of chronic migraine. A randomized controlled trial of 24 patients with chronic migraine will be conducted, comparing cabergoline to placebo as an add-on medication to the patients' migraine treatment over a 12 weeks period. The primary outcome is change in migraine frequency, but also headache-related hospital contacts, and quality of life as well as prolactin levels and biomarkers of the pituitary-gonadal-axis. The results of the study will help understand the pathogenesis of migraine and might also introduce a more effective and affordable preventive migraine treatment.

Traditionally, most healthcare professionals have mainly focused on infants and mothers, even though fathers often feel stressed, powerless, and helpless, and find it difficult to establish a father-child relationship.
