NCT ID: NCT05571709 Recruiting - Aging Clinical Trials

The Effect of Exercise on Myokine Production in Aging Persons

EXI-AGE
Start date: September 15, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The incidence of age-related diseases, such as cancer and cardiovascular diseases, rapidly rises. These days, age-related diseases cause the majority of all healthcare expenses. During ageing senescent cells secrete a range of harmful inflammatory signals, which leads to chronic inflammation (inflamm-aging) and accelerates aging throughout the rest of the body. Interestingly, people who regularly exercise show less signs of inflamm-aging compared to people with a sedentary lifestyle. Molecules secreted by skeletal muscles, called myokines, may play an important role. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms remain unknown. This pilot study aims to investigate if an acute bout of resistance training is an appropriate tool to induce an increase in the release of muscle derived myokines in aged persons.

NCT ID: NCT05571254 Completed - Syncope Clinical Trials

The Management of Transient Loss of Consciousness and Suspected Syncope in European Emergency Departments

SEED
Start date: September 12, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Prospective multi centre cohort study examining the clinical presentation, diagnostic tests, and management of adult Emergency Department (ED) patients presenting with Transient Loss of Consciousness (TLOC) either undifferentiated or thought to be of syncopal origin.

NCT ID: NCT05571137 Completed - Clinical trials for Cytomegalovirus (CMV)

Start date: May 31, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The main aim of the study is to assess the clinical outcomes of current CMV management across different regions of the world (Europe [EU] and Canada [CAN]). Data will be collected retrospectively from medical charts. No study medicines will be provided to participants in this study.

NCT ID: NCT05570123 Completed - Clinical trials for Hand Joint Discomfort

Effect and Tolerance of Standardized Exclusive Dry Extracts of Curcuma Longa and of Boswellia Serrata Among People With Hand Joint Discomfort and Dysfunction

CUBO
Start date: September 14, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The objective of the study is to evaluate the effect and tolerance of standardized exclusive dry extracts of Curcuma longa (CURTIL03) and of Boswellia serrata (BOSTIL01) among people with hand joint discomfort and dysfunction. The study is prospective, randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled with 2 parallel-groups in 200 participants. The study is multicentric and will be done by 11 investigators located in Belgium including rheumatologists, sports and rehabilitation physicians, physical therapists, or any hand articular disease specialists.

NCT ID: NCT05570058 Recruiting - Fibrosis Clinical Trials

Study to Assess the Safety, Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacodynamics and Clinical Activity of RXC007 in Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis

Start date: September 8, 2022
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of the study is to assess the safety and tolerability of RXC007 when given for 12 weeks (84 days), alone and in combination with nintedanib or pirfenidone.

NCT ID: NCT05570006 Recruiting - Ulcerative Colitis Clinical Trials

Study of ABBV-668 Oral Capsules to Assess Adverse Events and Change in Disease Activity in Adult Participants With Moderate to Severe Ulcerative Colitis

Start date: March 16, 2023
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a type of inflammatory bowel disease that causes inflammation and bleeding from the lining of the rectum and colon (large intestine). This study will assess how safe and effective ABBV-668 is in treating adult participants with UC. Adverse events and change in disease activity will be assessed. ABBV-668 is an investigational drug being developed for the treatment of moderate to severe UC. Approximately 40 adult participants diagnosed with UC will be enrolled in approximately 30 sites globally. Participants will receive oral capsules of ABBV-668 twice daily for 52-weeks and will undergo a 30 day follow-up period. There may be higher treatment burden for participants in this trial compared to their standard of care. Participants will attend regular visits during the study at a hospital or clinic. The effect of the treatment will be checked by medical assessments, checking for side effects and completing questionnaires.

NCT ID: NCT05569772 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Glucose Intolerance After a Recent History of Gestational Diabetes

Semaglutide for the Treatment of Glucose Intolerance in Women With Prior Gestational Diabetes

SERENA
Start date: September 14, 2023
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Gestational diabetes (GDM) is an important contributor to the increasing prevalence of type 2 diabetes (T2DM). Women with glucose intolerance in early postpartum are a particularly high-risk group with about 50% who will develop T2DM within 5 years after the delivery. Moreover, women with a history of GDM progress more rapidly to T2DM compared to women with similarly elevated glucose levels. Early intervention after the index pregnancy is therefore crucial to prevent T2DM. With the SERENA project, the investigators aim to reduce the risk to develop T2DM with the long-acting GLP-1 agonist semaglutide in women with a recent history of GDM and glucose intolerance in early postpartum.
