NCT ID: NCT02545387 Withdrawn - Chronic Hepatitis C Clinical Trials

Hepatitis C Virus in Neutrophil Granulocyte Progenitor Cells

Start date: January 2015
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Patients with hepatitis C show impaired neutrophil function. It is not known whether this is a direct of an indirect phenomenon. Using bone marrow biopsies from patients with hepatitis C it is possible to see whether neutrophil granulocyte progenitors are already infected with hepatitis C.

NCT ID: NCT02533141 Withdrawn - Healthy Clinical Trials

Effect of Simvastatin Withdrawal on Ocular Endothelial Function

Start date: October 2019
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

Statins are drugs representing the most commonly prescribed medication for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia. In a recently published study, discontinuation of statin therapy in patients after acute myocardial infarction was associated with a higher all-cause mortality (hazard ratio 3,45) and a higher cardiac mortality (hazard ratio 4,65). Increasing evidence suggests that statins also have vasoactive properties by up-regulating endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) with positive effects on endothelial function. Experiments with flow-mediated vasodilatation (FMD) showed these positive effects of statin treatment on endothelial function but also revealed that withdrawal of statin treatment transiently worsens endothelial function, independently of serum cholesterol levels. Consequently, this placebo controlled Phase IV crossover study wants to assess changes of endothelial function in terms of flicker induced vasodilatation before and during statin therapy as well as after statin withdrawal. For this purpose 20 healthy subjects will be treated with 40 mg/day of simvastatin for a period of 4 weeks. Flicker induced vasodilatation and retinal oxygen saturation will be measured with the Dynamic Vessel Analyzer system by Imedos at baseline, in the 4th week of simvastatin or placebo intake as well as 3, 7 and 14 days after the end of intake.

NCT ID: NCT02487849 Withdrawn - Clinical trials for Fallopian Tube Cancer

HIPEC After Secondary Cytoreductive Operation in Patients With Platinum-sensitive Recurrence of Ovarian Carcinoma

HIPEC
Start date: August 2016
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The combination of optimal cytoreductive operation (according to Desktop II criteria), HIPEC with Carboplatin 800 mg/m² KOF (Körperoberfläche) and following platinum-based systemic chemotherapy should be executed In patients with platinum-sensitive recurrence of ovarian carcinoma. Condition for HIPEC is attainment of optimal cytoreduction (R0) and experts judgement of a complication-free prolongation of narcosis after finishing the surgery. HIPEC will be administered additionally to standard therapy. If HIPEC was executed the number of systemic given platinum-based chemotherapy decreases for one cycle. This regime should be investigated in terms of safety of performance, quality of life for the patients and consequences for the following systemic chemotherapy.

NCT ID: NCT02342431 Withdrawn - Hypothermia Clinical Trials

Comparison of a Patient Warming System Using a Forced-air, Non-compressible Under-body Mattress Versus a Regular Forced-air Underbody Mattress System During Pediatric Cardiac Catheterization

Start date: October 2010
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The study is a comparison of a patient warming system using a forced-air, non-compressible under-body mattress (Möck & Möck, Hamburg, Germany) versus a regular forced-air underbody mattress system during pediatric cardiac catheterization in 40 patients. The hypothesis is, that the non-compressible mattress provides better warming with less incidence of perioperative hypothermia (Core temperature < 36 °C) and faster warming slope (°C / time). The study is prospective, randomized, controlled and single-blinded. Inclusion criteria will be pediatric patients < 1 year of age without fever or a treatment of therapeutic hypothermia.

NCT ID: NCT02183194 Withdrawn - Clinical trials for Dysfunctional AV Graft

Paclitaxel Coated PTA Balloons for Treatment of Dysfunctional AV Fistulae and Grafts

ACCESS
Start date: July 2014
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the Lutonix® 035 Drug Coated Balloon PTA Catheter (CE mark) for use as intended in the treatment of subjects with clinically significant hemodialysis vascular access stenosis or occlusion.

NCT ID: NCT02125708 Withdrawn - Clinical trials for Preterm Premature Rupture of Fetal Membranes

Core-temperature Monitoring in Patients With PPROM

Start date: January 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The most common reason for preterm prelabor rupture of membrane (PPROM) is an ascendance of infection. Moreover PPROM is one of the main risk factors for chorioamnionitis. PPROM-related morbidity and mortality is higher in the neonate than in the mother, especially in case of intrauterine inflammation. Of note, the most common biomarkers like CRP and leucocytes are not specific for uterine infections and have not been proven useful in these particular cases. Studies in intensive care medicine could show that there is a possible correlation between onset of infection and body-core-temperature. The OvulaRing® is a non-invasive thermometer measuring the intravaginal temperature every 5 minutes. It was originally invented to assess the moment of ovulation and optimize fertility. Twenty patients with verified PPROM between gestation week 22 and 27 should be included in this study. After gynecological and physical examination within verification of PPROM women will be informed and invited to participate in this study. Subsequently informed consent will be obtained and the OvulaRing® placed into the vaginal fornix. The investigators aim to describe a possible correlation between core-temperature and common biomarkers in clinical use for the detection of chorioamnionitis in patients with PPROM to possibly assess the optimal time for delivery subsequently.

NCT ID: NCT02091492 Withdrawn - Humeral Fractures Clinical Trials

Teriparatide for Fracture Repair in Humans

TERAFRAP
Start date: June 2014
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This study will test the hypothesis that daily subcuaneous administration of 20µg of teriparatide (TPTD) as compared to daily subcuaneous placebo for twelve weeks accelerates proximal 2-segment humerus fracture healing and improves the three dimensional structural properties of bone as measured via quantitative bone image analysis and finite element modeling assessed by quantitative computed tomography.

Start date: May 2014
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of the trial is to investigate the safety and effectiveness of renal denervation for the treatment of chronic heart failure (CHF).

NCT ID: NCT02022969 Withdrawn - Atelectasis Clinical Trials

Detection of SpO2-oscillations of Low Ventilated Areas

MAS
Start date: August 1, 2024
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

Even though experimental lung injury in animal experiments is the best analogy for the changes in the patients, it has to be considered that kinetics may vary between species. An important question to answer is how common PaO2-oscillations occur in patients and how injurious they might be. A limitation to the detection of PaO2-oscillations is a sensing device that detects the oscillations at very high temporal resolution. In previous studies a fiberoptic probe was used, which was measuring PaO2 based on oxygen-sensitive fluorescence quenching with a time resolution up to 10 Hz (8, 13, 14). This method is not feasible in patients. Previous studies have shown that PaO2-oscillations are translated into the peripheral hemoglobin oxygen saturation (SpO2). Given a technology that has a time resolution that is high enough (i.e. >1 Hz), measurement of SpO2-oscillations would be a valid approach to detecting and quantifying cyclical recruitment and derecruitment in a non-invasive fashion in patients on the ICU. The Masimo Rad-8 pulse-oxymeter provides such a method. In the current study it is planned to deteted SpO2-oscillations in the post-operative patients on the ICU.
