There are about 435 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in United Arab Emirates. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The Quadratus Lumborum block (QLB) was first described by Blanco in 2007. The main advantage of QLB compared to the Transversus Abdominis Plane block (TAP) is the extension of local anesthetic agent beyond the TAP plane to the thoracic paravertebral space. The wider spread of the local anesthetic agents produces extensive analgesia and prolonged action of the injected local anesthetic solution. Previous studies showed that TAP block may not be effective in improving postoperative analgesia in patients who had cesarean section under spinal anaesthesia. The aim of this randomised controlled, double blinded study is to examine the effect of QLB on the postoperative pain management in patients who had cesarean section under spinal anesthesia.
DISCOVER is a Non Interventional Study study to describe the disease management patterns and clinical evolution over three years in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients initiating a second line anti-diabetic treatment.
This study is conducted globally. The aim of this study is to describe the proportion of patients with hypoglycaemic episodes and estimate the incidence of various types of hypoglycaemia in the retrospective and prospective periods.
Thet study aims to estimate the prevalence of ALK rearrangement in the Middle East North Africa population by using the Ventana ALK-IHC method for ALK protein detection in retrospective NSCLC clinical samples, & to evaluate the association of ALK rearrangement with clinical and pathological parameters of NSCLC patients in MENA.
The purpose of this study was to determine whether treatment with tamoxifen or a non-steroidal aromatase inhibitors (NSAI) + goserelin + LEE011 prolonged progression-free survival (PFS) compared to treatment with tamoxifen or a NSAI + goserelin + placebo in premenopausal women with hormone receptor positive (HR+), human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 negative (HER2-) advanced breast cancer.
Following the findings of the clinical trials in drug development, this global non-interventional cohort field study will investigate rivaroxaban under clinical practice conditions in comparison with current standard of care for patients with acute venous thoromboembolism (VTE). The main goal is to analyze long-term safety in the use of rivaroxaban in the treatment of acute VTE in routine clinical practice.
Descriptive study on the management of asthma in asthmatic Middle East adult population : Algeria,Egypt, Irak,Iran, Jordan, Koweit, Lebanon, Qatar,Saudi,Tunisia, UAE
Assessed the new film-coated tablet formulation to the currently approved dispersible tablet formulation with regards to overall safety, Gastrointestinal (GI) tolerability, palatability, satisfaction and compliance
The incidence of type 2 diabetes mellitus and obesity is increasing at an alarming rate both nationally and worldwide. Accumulating evidence suggests that serum cholecalciferol levels may be inversely related to the prevalence of diabetes, insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome. However, to demonstrate a causal relation between vitamin D and glucose metabolism, evidence from randomized and adequately powered placebo-controlled intervention trials is needed. The trials available on the effect of Vitamin D supplementation are not conclusive. Hence, the purpose of this study was to conduct a double-blind randomized trial in Vitamin D deficient obese type 2 diabetic Emirati population to clarify the effect of vitamin D supplementation on glycemic control and obesity parameters.
The purpose of this study is to demonstrate that primary prevention patients with one or more additional risk factors (1.5 prevention criteria: syncope/pre-syncope, non-sustained ventricular tachycardia (NSVT), frequent pre-ventricular contractions (PVCs), and low left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF)) are at a similar risk of life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias (LTVA) when compared to secondary prevention patients, and would receive similar benefit from an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD), or cardiac resynchronization therapy- defibrillator (CRT-D) implant.
