Filter by:There is strong evidence that specific types of exercise can improve health and physical function in older adults. While community exercise classes exist, many older adults with chronic conditions may need guidance from credentialed exercise professionals to ensure sufficient dose and progression and to address fears or low exercise self-efficacy. Furthermore, low protein intake among older adults is common and initiating exercise when nutrition is inadequate may cause weight loss and limit gains in muscle strength. The primary goal is to determine the feasibility of implementing the MoveSTroNg program under real-world conditions, measured through referral and recruitment to the program and study retention and adherence rates.
Randomized, controlled, unblinded, adaptive design clinical trial to evaluate the safety and efficacy of PolyCore (Polydextrin, L-Carnitine, D-xylitol) peritoneal ultrafiltration (PUF) in patients with heart failure and reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF).
To confirm the tolerability of intravenous administration of OPC-61815 at 8 or 16 mg once daily for a maximum of 5 days to CHF patients with volume overload despite having received diuretics (injection) other than vasopressin antagonists and who have difficulty with or are incapable of oral intake.
The primary purpose of this study is to evaluate the diagnostic performance of three methods for measuring right ventricular size and function including the Philips Novel RV quantification technologies (RV Heart Model volumetric analysis and Philips 2D strain) and the Upper Valley Right Ventricle Algorithm (UVRV) algorithm as compared to the gold standard of volumetric analysis via cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) in a broad patient population.
Pulmonary Artery Compliance measurements will be obtained with the Respirix device in patients with congestive heart failure decompensation. Echocardiogram, weight measurements, and BNP will also be gathered as independent measures of decompensation in the clinic. Pulmonary Artery Compliance measurements will be made daily during the hospital stay. Patients can continue using the device at home for the next 3 weeks. Each patient will serve as their own control and relative changes from their baseline will be recorded for each parameter.
This is a prospective, single arm, early feasibility study designed to evaluate the safety and device performance of The RenalGuard System in the management of patients admitted with signs and symptoms of congestive heart failure who require diuresis for the treatment of volume overload.
This is a prospective, single arm, early feasibility study (EFS) designed to evaluate the safety and device performance of The RenalGuard System in the management of patients admitted with signs and symptoms of congestive heart failure who require diuresis for the treatment of volume overload.
Safety and performance evaluation of the preCARDIA System for patients with ADHF.
This trial is to evaluate two types of electrical muscle Stimulation (EMS) stimulation (low intensity "conventional stimulation" vs. high intensity "Russian" stimulation) of legs in comparison with a control group without EMS in a cohort of elderly patients with severe deconditioning after CHF decompensation.
Polypharmacy is common among older adults in the United States and is associated with harms such as adverse drug reactions and higher costs of care. This pilot-phase project is designed to test two electronic health record (EHR)-based behavioral economic nudges to help primary care clinicians reduce the rate of high-risk polypharmacy among their older adult patients.
