Filter by:The investigators want to work on compassion, understood as the recognition of the suffering of others that motivates us to try to alleviate it. The goal of this Multicenter project, with a mixed sequential transformative methodology, is to analyze the impact of a participatory process of awareness and reflection on compassion, in the face of end-of-life processes, in adolescents aged 12-23 years in 6 Spanish provinces, and to understand how the participatory process can transform and improve their compassion. As the adolescents must be the protagonists of change, the study will be conducted with students enrolled in one public secondary school and in one degree in a public University, that belongs to the same "health area" in each province. The investigators also include families' and teachers' knowledge of the context because it can support the interventions of change proposals. Compassion will be assessed using the Compassion for the Lives of Others Scale (COOLS), comprising 26 items. Similarly, adolescents' attitudes toward death are another important concept and will be explored through the Death Anxiety Scale (DAS), which has 15 questions. Both scales will be distributed to the adolescents, requesting their permission anonymously. After the survey, a second phase will start with a Participatory Action Research (PAR) with different activities. The objective is to generate awareness of the need to improve it, allowing the participants to design the interventions, based on evidence-based proposals (cinema forum, colloquiums with testimonies of volunteers accompanying palliative patients, organization of Death Cafe, artistic and literary activities, generation of grief groups, etc.). At the end of the project, the investigators will evaluate the adolescent compassion level and create discussion groups again to understand the impact of the interventions. With this project, the investigators will empower new generations of people to encourage, facilitate, support, and celebrate mutual care and family and community development in end-of-life processes. The translation and implications of the results for clinical practice will contribute to reducing inequalities in health research in a vulnerable group of special interest, especially when treatments can do nothing for their survival but with interventions such as those in this study, the investigators can ensure quality and dignity of life as long as there is life.
The goal of this clinical trial is to evaluate the effectiveness of an 8-week online yoga intervention in improving the well-being and productivity of desk-based workers. The main questions it aims to answer are: - How effective is an 8-week online yoga intervention in improving the well-being (mental and physical) and productivity (work engagement and job performance) of the yoga group compared with passive controls? - Are there any differences in well-being and work-related measures between the yoga and control groups? Participants in the yoga group will practice yoga three days a week for 8 weeks and will be compared with a wait-listed control group, which will continue with the usual routine for 8 weeks. Researchers will evaluate the impact of yoga on the well-being and productivity of desk-based workers.
Comparison of clinical outcomes of electrocoagulation and non-electrocoagulation techniques in total hip and knee arthroplasty surgery
This study aimed to investigate the differences in compassionate flow among nursing students both before and after an educational intervention.
Background: Bleeding through the staple line has been reported as one of the most common staple-related complications in laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG). In this study, we aimed to compare the effects of clips and omentopexy techniques on postoperative bleeding and readmissions during the first 30-days following surgery. Methods: In this prospective randomized controlled study, patients were divided into two groups: clips group and omentopexy group. The groups were compared in terms of postoperative decrease in hemoglobin and hematocrit values, preoperative and peroperative blood pressure values, duration of surgery, number of patients requiring erythrocyte suspension (ES) transfusion, length of hospital stay, hospital readmissions in the first 30-days postoperatively and early postoperative complications.

The aim of this thesis study is to determine the effect of compassion education on compassion adequacy and moral sensitivity in nursing students. The sample of the descriptive study consists of the first year nursing students studying at Süleyman Demirel University in the 2022-2023 academic year. The research will be carried out between October 2022 and September 2023. Research data will be collected from nursing students who volunteered to participate in the research by using the Personal Information Form, which includes the demographic characteristics of the students, the Compassion Adequacy Scale and the Modified Moral Sensitivity Scale for Nursing Students.
This study will test how well a mindfulness-based intervention called CHIME improves the emotional well-being of educators in Early Head Start and Head Start (EHS/HS) settings. The study also will examine if there are any benefits to young children's social emotional health as a result of the CHIME program. Researchers will compare educators who participate in CHIME to educators who are asked to participate at a later time to see if there are benefits to their emotional health and teaching practices.
The new professional profiles highlight the need to incorporate competences such as self-regulation, communication or growth mindset in the academia. Not only is this important for employability; a step further is needed. It's necessary to equip learners with knowledge, skills and attitudes that help them become agents of change and shape sustainable futures in our current complex society. Within the framework of an agreement signed between the University of Granada (UGR), Spain, and, one of the leading real state firms in Spain, Cívitas, a course and a parallel study have been launched that will provide research and training in these competences at a degree level. It is part of the Sustainable Human Development Training Pathway of the Vice-Rectorate for Equality, Inclusion and Sustainability. The main objective of the study is to test whether participating in a competence-based course can improve students' cognitive, emotional and personal traits as well as academic performance. Together with this main purpose, the present study also aims to compare the effects of two competence-based programs on the students' ability to improve specific aspects of cognition, emotional intelligence, creativity or academic performance among others. Both programs involve training sustained attention and an accepting and open attitude though they differ in several aspects of their methods, intention and aims. Drawing conclusions from the research and outcomes, pedagogies which are best suited to develop theses competences at the Higher Education level will be suggested. Assessment and certification of this kind of competences will also be proposed.
