NCT ID: NCT05604911 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Kidney Transplant; Complications

Herpes Virus Infections in Kidney Transplant Patients

HINT
Start date: January 1, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Kidney transplant recipients are at increased risk of infections, including Varicella-zoster virus (VZV) infections. Vaccination against VZV is routinely offered to all kidney transplant recipients and candidates in Denmark. In this exploratory observational study, the VZV specific immune response in kidney transplant candidates and recipients will be characterized at different time points in relation to transplantation, vaccination and infections. More knowledge on the immune reaction to transplantation, VZV vaccination and VZV infections may provide improved strategies for prevention and treatment of VZV infections in kidney transplant candidates and recipients.

The participant will be randomly allocated to rinse their mouth twice daily either with Listerine mouthwash, Lumineux Oral Essentials mouthwash, or water. The overall duration of the study will be approximately 180 days and will include approximately 5 visits and 15-30 minutes for each visit with a total of approximately 2.5 hours of your time. Additionally, fecal matter will also be collected in some subjects using a commercial collection kit.

NCT ID: NCT05602324 Recruiting - Severe Infection Clinical Trials

Nutritional Supplement for Patients With Severe Infection

NUWISE
Start date: October 1, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This is a randomized trial testing a supplement that has been approved by Health Canada to support healthy cholesterol levels (i.e. high density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol). This trial is proposing to use this approved supplement to determine whether it is able to raise HDL cholesterol in patients treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) with severe infection who have detrimentally low levels of HDL cholesterol. Patients who present to the ICU with severe infection will be approached for consent. If they choose to participate, patients will be given usual care or a 150mL daily nutritional supplement containing lauric acid (15 ml) and Berberine (1000 mg) daily for 14 days. Participants will be followed during their stay in the ICU and will receive follow up phone calls at Day 28 and 90.

START-001
Start date: January 4, 2023
Phase: Phase 1/Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This is an open label, multicenter, phase 1/2 study to assess the safety/tolerability and preliminary clinical activity of STAR0602 as a single agent administered intravenously in participants with advanced solid tumors that are antigen-rich.

NCT ID: NCT05590286 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Helicobacter Pylori Infection

A RCT of the Efficacy of Vonoprazan 20mg QD in the Treatment of Helicobacter Pylori Infection

VATH-1
Start date: June 1, 2022
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The treatment of helicobacter pylori is very important. The routine treatment is quadruple therapy. In recent years, double therapy has appeared and the curative effect is fair. However, antacid generally uses proton pump inhibitor. The proton pump inhibitor needs double dose to achieve good antacid curative effect. The effect of vonoprazan used for inhibiting gastric acid is better than proton pump inhibitor. At present, many studies use vonoprazan instead of common proton pump inhibitor, but almost all use double dose of vonoprazan. In the previous study, we found that the effect of double dose of proton pump inhibitor can be achieved with 20mg QD of vonoprazan. Therefore, in this study, 20mg QD of vonoprazan was used to replace the double dose of proton pump inhibitor to observe the antibacterial effect of vonoprazan on Helicobacter pylori.

NCT ID: NCT05587738 Recruiting - Cancer Clinical Trials

Human Papillomavirus in Young People Epidemiological Research 4

HYPER4
Start date: January 1, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Anal cancer is overrepresented among gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men (MSM), particularly those living with HIV. Australia was the first country to introduce a publicly funded national HPV vaccination program in 2007. This program was expanded to include schoolboys aged 12-13 years in 2013; with a 2-year catch-up for boys aged up to 15 years. The goal of the HYPER4 study is to determine the prevalence of anal, genital and oral HPV among 500 young gay and bisexual men aged 21-25 years who were eligible for the school-based gender-neutral quadrivalent vaccination program. Participants will be required to complete a questionnaire and provide samples for HPV testing. No follow-up visits will be required.

NCT ID: NCT05587725 Recruiting - Cancer Clinical Trials

Human Papillomavirus in Young People Epidemiological Research 3

HYPER3
Start date: January 1, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Anal cancer is overrepresented among gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men (MSM), particularly those living with HIV. Australia was the first country to introduce a publicly funded national HPV vaccination program in 2007. This program was expanded to include schoolboys aged 12-13 years in 2013Íž with a 2-year catch-up for boys aged up to 15 years. In 2018, the 9-valent vaccine (covering genotypes 6/11/16/18/31/33/45/52/58) replaced the 4-valent vaccine in the national program. The goal of the HYPER3 study is to determine the prevalence of anal, genital and oral HPV among 200 young gay and bisexual men aged 16-20 years who were eligible for the school-based 9-valent vaccination. Participants will be required to complete a questionnaire and provide samples for HPV testing. No follow-up visits will be required.

NCT ID: NCT05586815 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Acinetobacter Infections

Efficacy of Colistin Monotherapy Versus Colistin Plus Minocycline for Carbapenem-Resistant A. Baumannii Infection

Start date: January 10, 2023
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

Acinetobacter baumannii causes severe infections (pneumonia, bacteremia, organ space) with high lethality in hospitalised critically ill patients. It can acquire resistance to all classes of antibiotics (multidrug resistance, MDR) except an 'old' drug, colistin, which may be the only therapeutic option. The addition of minocycline to colistin has been shown to be synergistic in vitro, and may be promising in vivo, but this combination has not been limited to case report or case series in comparison with colistin alone.

NCT ID: NCT05586776 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Surgical Site Infection

Decolonization to Reduce After-Surgery Events of Surgical Site Infection

DECREASE SSI
Start date: January 17, 2023
