NCT ID: NCT05009693 Completed - Clinical trials for Cancer-related Fatigue

Effect of White Light on Fatigue Levels in Patients With Gynecological Cancer

Start date: May 1, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

White light therapy is one of the non-pharmacological methods in the management of fatigue. Cancer-related fatigue (CRF) is a persistent, subjective sense of physical, emotional, and/or cognitive tiredness or burnout. It is associated with cancer or cancer treatment from the first diagnosis until the end of life that is not proportional to recent physical activity. It was founded that 10,000 Lux bright white light administered in the morning hours reduced fatigue by 17% in patients with cancer and that the mean fatigue scores of patients decreased from 30.37 to 9.48 compared to before the light administration. According to NCCN (2020), white light of 10,000 Lux can be applied for 30-90 minutes in the morning hours to regulate sleep and manage fatigue in the post treatment period as well as in cancer patients receiving active treatment. However, studies on this subject consist of small sample groups, and more studies are needed to identify the risks and benefits of the application and to determine the optimal application time and duration. The present study was aimed to evaluate the effect of white light on the fatigue levels of patients with gynecological cancer who were treated with chemotherapy. The patients with high levels of fatigue in every dimension were selected so as to have a homogeneous group. The research hypotheses were determined as follows: H0: White light has no effect on fatigue levels in patients with gynecological cancer. H1: White light reduces fatigue levels in patients with gynecological cancer.

Study of the Effects of Transcutaneous Vagus Nerve Stimulation on Cancer Patients

Start date: September 23, 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Patients diagnosed with breast cancer who received assisted radiotherapy were recruited and the transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation (taVNS) was applied. The aim of of study is : 1) to study whether taVNS could improve the patient's fatigue, quality of life under radiotherapy or chemotherapy; 2) to investigate the effects of taVNS on the levels of patients' lymphocyte subsets and proinflammatory cytokines.

NCT ID: NCT04147312 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Cancer-related Fatigue

Fufang E'Jiao Jiang Intervening Cancer-related Fatigue

FFEJJICRF
Start date: October 17, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

With the therapeutic tool of carcinoma increasing, life span extending, the solicitude for the patients'quality of life appear more important. Cancer-related fatigue (CRF) is one of the most prevalent and debilitating symptoms experienced by people with cancer. It can persist for months or years after cancer therapy is completed and has a negative impact on all areas of function. Meaningful evidence-based treatment options for CRF are extremely limited and finding safe, inexpensive, and effective interventions for managing this distressing symptom are urgently needed. Our previous clinical experience have shown that traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) had a great effect on improving CRF, Several studies proven that its'mechanism were related to the regulation of immune function and endocrine hormones. Fufang E'Jiao Jiang (FFEJJICRF) is a commonly-used Chinese patent medicine and successfully marketed in China for many years, which are effective in improvement for TCM symptoms of deficiency with qi and blood. This proposal will investigate the effects of FFEJJICRF on CRF among non-small cell lung cancer, colorectal cancer, and gastric cancer, so as to find a new way for curing it in clinical.

NCT ID: NCT03897556 Completed - Clinical trials for Cancer-related Fatigue

Effect of High-Dose Guarana And Cancer-Related Fatigue

Start date: October 20, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This research will examine the effectiveness of a guaraná nutrition energy bar supplement on cancer-related fatigue based on scores from fatigue questionnaires. Participants will be randomized to one of three study arms: 1) two guaraná energy bars/day, 2) one guaraná energy bar/day 3) usual-care only/ no guaraná energy bars during study in cancer patients who have completed cancer treatment. We would also like to find out if this energy bar supplement improves physical performance, mood and reduces plasma glutamine and inflammation.
