NCT ID: NCT04067167 Recruiting - Cancer Clinical Trials

Flexi Band Resistance Training Versus EMS Exercise in Patients With the Diagnosis of Malignant Diseases

FREEDOM
Start date: May 1, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of a 12-week flexi band resistance training program compared to different whole-body electromyostimulation (WB-EMS) exercise programs on muscle strength, body composition (in particular muscle mass), cardiorespiratory fitness, inflammation, and patient-reported subjective outcomes (e.g. quality of life, fatigue, performance status) in patients with malignant disease undergoing curative or palliative anti-cancer treatment.

NCT ID: NCT04065815 Recruiting - Cancer Clinical Trials

Protein-rich Nutritional Therapy Combined With Time-efficient Exercise in Cancer Therapy

PROTECT
Start date: May 1, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study aims to evaluate the effects of a 12-week protein-rich individualized nutritional therapy combined with different time-efficient exercise programs on overall physical fitness (cardiorespiratory fitness and muscular fitness), inflammation, and muscle mass/body composition in patients with malignant disease undergoing curative or palliative anti-cancer treatment

NCT ID: NCT04034745 Withdrawn - Pancreatic Cancer Clinical Trials

Open Label Study to Analyze the Effect of Telotristat Ethyl on Weight Regulation/Gain

Start date: October 2020
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This single arm study will evaluate whether Xermelo (telotristat ethyl) associated weight gain is affects lean body mass, dietary intake, and physical and cognitive functioning among neuroendocrine tumor (NET) patients with a history of carcinoid syndrome.

NCT ID: NCT04001010 Suspended - Advanced Cancer Clinical Trials

Safety and Efficacy of Inhaled Synthetic THC/CBD for Improving Physical Functioning and for Modulating Cachexia Progression in Patients With Advanced Cancer and Associated Cachexia

SERENITY
Start date: July 2022
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

A large number of patients with advanced cancer also suffer from cachexia. Cachexia is a syndrome characterized by loss of skeletal muscle mass (with/or without loss of fat mass) that cannot be reversed by nutritional support and progressively leads to functional impairment. Patients who suffer from anorexia and cachexia have lower survival rates. Some patients with cancer use cannabis to improve the way they feel and relieve their pain. However, there is very sparse high-quality research to prove that cannabis products are truly effective. This study will investigate patients with advanced cancer who use inhaled therapeutic cannabinoid-based medication (PPP011), in addition to palliative care management, and will assess if these patients experience improvement in functional status as a surrogate endpoint for survivalquality

NCT ID: NCT03982082 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Malignant Solid Neoplasm

Ultrasound in Evaluating Muscle-Glycogen Content in Cancer Patients

Start date: April 12, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This trial studies how well an ultrasound procedure (non-invasive MuscleSound technology) can be used to learn about levels of glycogen (a type of sugar) in cancer patients during inpatient rehabilitation. The ultrasound information will be processed to represent the energy storage in the muscle. The energy storage in the muscle may help future research to look for dietary plans that can help to increase energy storage, patient exercise tolerance, and functional improvement.

NCT ID: NCT03960034 Completed - NSCLC Stage IV Clinical Trials

Cachexia in NSCLC Patients: Diagnosis, Characterization, Prognosis, Functional and Skeletal Muscle Implications

LUCAX01
Start date: April 10, 2017
Phase:
Study type: Observational

LUCAX01 is a cohort study with patients with advanced NSCLC in tobacco users. in this study, patients will be submitted to baseline physical tests, blood and biopsy sample collection, and the main objective is to study the functional and prognostic implications of cachexia and to validate skeletal muscle dysfunction markers.

NCT ID: NCT03958032 Completed - Gastric Cancer Clinical Trials

Effects of Sarcopenia on Early Postoperative Outcomes in Patients Undergoing Surgical Treatment for Gastric Cancer

Start date: December 3, 2016
Phase:
Study type: Observational

We aimed to establish the effects of sarcopenia on postoperative complications among patients undergoing surgical treatment for gastric cancer

NCT ID: NCT03881826 Completed - Clinical trials for Acute Myeloid Leukemia

Investigation of the Gut Microbiota in Patients With Acute Myeloid Leukemia

MicroAML
Start date: December 4, 2015
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This cohort study aims to investigate the composition and activity of the gut microbiota of patients newly diagnosed for acute myeloid leukemia (AML), in relationship with their food habits and cachectic hallmarks. The recruitment for this study is currently ongoing with the help of clinicians, nurses and data managers at the Saint-Luc clinics, University Hospital Leuven (Campus Gasthuisberg) and University Hospital Gent. Primary Objective •To assess the composition and activity of the gut microbiota in patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) compared to matched control subjects. Secondary Objectives - To investigate correlations between the gut microbiota, cachectic hallmarks and gut microbiota-related markers in the blood (gut permeability markers, microbial compounds, microbial metabolites). - To characterize the changes in the gut microbial ecosystem that are induced by chemotherapy and associated with colitis. - To assess whether the composition of the gut microbiota can predict the severity of chemotherapy-related colitis. Study Design This is an academic multi-centric prospective study. The study is composed of two cohorts (Fig. 1). In Cohort A, patients are included before any chemotherapy. Biological samples (urine, feces, blood) are collected, alongside information on nutritional habits, appetite and medical records. Muscle strength and body composition are also measured. Only patients receiving a standard chemotherapy are included in Cohort B. In Cohort B, biological samples are collected and body composition, muscle strength and appetite are evaluated at 2 different time points, at the end of the chemotherapy (T1) and at discharge (T4).

NCT ID: NCT03851133 Active, not recruiting - Pancreatic Cancer Clinical Trials

Florida Pancreas Collaborative Next Generation Biobank

Start date: March 4, 2019
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The goal of this study is to partner with individuals known or suspected to have pancreatic cancer to build a biobank dedicated to minimizing disparities and personalizing care for individuals affected by pancreatic cancer. A biobank is a resource that involves collection, processing and storage of blood, other bodily fluids, and tissue.
