Filter by:The goal of the Professional Development Coaching Program is to allow trainees to understand their development over time, find meaning and purpose in their work, and identify their strengths and how to use these to overcome challenges and stressors. Additionally, the program connects trainees with a faculty member who will work with them, grow to know them in-depth over time, and provide meaningful guidance throughout the relationship. There is an additional benefit to the coaches themselves, who are able to connect with other faculty coaches in a rewarding way, that provides faculty development in leadership development and positive psychology, and space to interact with a group of like-minded physicians.
Residents and interns are prone to emotional and physical exhaustion, also known as burnout. Burnout has not been studied much in physicians working in lower-middle income countries. We conducted this cross-sectional study at two institutes to determine the burden of burnout among internal medicine residents and to identify triggering and protective factors associated with burnout. An abbreviated version of the Maslach Burnout scale was used to measure burnout, and protective and triggering factors were recorded according to known factors.
There are few systematic studies on the working environment and mental health of residents who are at the forefront of Korean medical care. In particular, there is no scientific research on burnout prevention. Since preventing burnout of surgical residents is directly related not only to personal well-being but the health of the patients, it is necessary to care for the individual's psychological state at a social level. This psychological intervention program that is expected to improve recovery resilience in stressful situations of residents and prevent burnout is implemented, and its effectiveness is to be verified.
Health professionals are extremely exposed to psychosocial risks, as they experience, in general, high levels of stress, anxiety, fatigue and suffering, due to the nature and location of their work. As a result, the health and well being of these professionals can be significantly compromised. In outbreaks of serious infectious diseases and pandemics, these risks become amplified and the health team is at greater risk of falling ill, presenting changes in mental health and psychological trauma, while caring for infected patients and becoming potential contaminants in their family and community. The objective is to study the mental health of professionals who work in Pediatric Intensive Care Units (PICUs) in Brazil, during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. The primary outcome will be the prevalence of burnout in the team involved with the care of critically ill children. Secondary outcomes such as anxiety, depression, quality of professional life, compassionate fatigue and post-traumatic stress disorder will be measured. Possible associations between demographic, work and coping variables (social support and resilience) with mental and emotional health outcomes will be investigated, in an exploratory character. It is a multicenter, observational, longitudinal study, with a descriptive and exploratory analytical component. Data collection will be carried out through an electronic survey during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) is a novel coronavirus detected in Wuhan, China on December 2019. This virus is responsible for the infectious respiratory disease called Covid-19. The psychological effects of this epidemic are found among the general population, but also healthcare workers. Some studies have shown that psychological disorders such as stress, anxiety, depressive symptoms, insomnia, denial, anger and fear, post-traumatic stress disorder are emerging among healthcare workers. However, there is currently insufficient data to evaluate the burnout during the COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose of this study is to understand the impact of the covid-19 epidemic on stress and burnout on healthcare workers and their coping strategies.
This is a pilot randomized waitlist control trial assessing if the feasibility of using a mobile mindfulness app to treat emotional distress and burnout amongst nurses taking care of COVID-19 patients. This trial will help inform the study team if dissemination the intervention to a large number of nurses in a short time period is feasible, and if the intervention has evidence of a clinical impact.
The objective of this prospective observational cohort study is to answer the following clinically important questions: 1. In patients with a pre-operative history of ICBs, what is the likelihood of improvement or deterioration in ICBs post-operatively? 2. What is the risk of developing post-operative de novo ICBs after Subthalamic Nucleus DBS (STN DBS)? 3. Which factors are important in predicting changes in ICBs after STN DBS? 4. What is the impact of ICBs on carer's quality of life QoL and burden?
To assess the prevalence and risk factors for depression and burnout among residents across surgical specialties in Kuwait.
The investigators propose to implement a comprehensive Pediatrician Wellbeing Program initiated through and aligning with departmental faculty development and mentorship processes and goals. The Investigators hypothesize that a wellbeing intervention that incorporates an innovative health coaching model to cultivate individual behavior change supportive of one's own and others' wellbeing will lead to improvements in self-reported wellbeing.
