This study aims to analyze serum and plasma samples from patients with late onset Pompe disease treated and not treated with enzyme replacement therapy (ERT) to identify microRNA that could be specific of the disease. The investigators will correlate the concentration of these microRNA with several muscle function tests and quantitative muscle MRI to know whether they are good biomarkers of progression.
Observational studies clearly show that people with diabetes and end-stage kidney failure have an increased risk of foot ulceration and leg amputation. However, there is very little evidence on addressing this problem. Diabetes foot care teams have been shown to reduce hospital admissions, length of stay and leg amputation in people with diabetes. Since their introduction at The James Cook University Hospital (JCUH) major diabetes-related leg amputation rates have fallen by 86 percent (1995 to 2010). People with diabetes and end-stage kidney failure require haemodialysis (blood cleaning) 3 times per week for several hours each time. This time commitment makes it difficult to attend other clinical appointments. An audit at JCUH shows that this population fails to attend the normal diabetes foot services. This project aims to reduce the incidence of foot disease in people with diabetes and end-stage kidney failure on dialysis. The investigators will set up a podiatry-led intervention within the dialysis unit to prevent and promptly treat foot disease in this population. This will involve foot risk assessment, risk reduction and treatment during dialysis. The intervention will involve diabetes consultants, podiatrists, vascular and orthopaedic surgeons . In this way the investigators hope to reduce leg amputation, hospital admission, procedures to unblock arteries and death in this high risk group. The study will run in the dialysis unit at JCUH. Patients will be divided into two groups: those attending for dialysis on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday will form the treatment group and those attending on a Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday will continue to be managed as at present. The investigators will collect data from patient health care records looking in particular at leg amputations, hospital admissions due to foot problems, foot surgery and operations to unblock arteries.
Sixty neonates and infants will be enrolled and randomised into two groups of n=30 each . For their surgical procedures, one group general (GA) anaesthesia the second group will receive a combined general and epidural anaesthesia (CGEA). Anaesthetic technique: Patients in the GA group will be induced with intravenous propofol (2-4 mg.kg-1) and fentanyl (2-4 µg.kg-1) and will receive rocuronium bromide (0.5 mg.kg-1) to facilitate endotracheal intubation. Anaesthesia will be maintained with sevoflurane (2-3%) in an air/oxygen mixture as well as intravenous fentanyl as required. In the (CGEA) 0.5 ml.kg-1 of 0.25% bupivacaine will be injected into the epidural catheter, followed by a continuous infusion of 0.1% bupivacaine at a rate of 0.2 mg.kg-1.hr-1 for up to 48 hours postoperatively. Assessment of anaesthetic efficacy will be measured Intraoperative care vital signs. And will continuously be monitored with a Datex AS/3 (Engestrom®, Helsinki, Finland) monitor. The use of antibiotic prophylaxis will be determined by the degree of bowel contamination during surgery, with the commonest regimen consisting of penicillin, gentamicin and metronidazole will be administered. Antibiotics will be continued for 36-48 hours postoperatively to prevent infection arising from the disturbed bowel flora. Postoperative care, following surgery, will be conducted. The feeding volume will be increased in steps as long as the volume of regurgitated fluid will be less than 20% of the administered breast milk or formula volume. Full feeding will define as oral tolerance of at least 80% of daily maintenance volume. In cases of abdominal distension or vomiting, feeding will withheld until symptom resolution. The nasogastric tube will be removed on bowel function restoration The CRIES score will be use to assess the severity and duration of postoperative pain during the patients' NICU stay. If the CRIES score is ≥4, fentanyl will be continuously intravenously infused in both study group. Fentanyl will be also administered to CGEA patients who experienced pain despite a continuous epidural infusion at 1-5 µg.kg-1.h-1. The amount of fentanyl required for adequate postoperative pain relief will be recorded in both groups.
A Phase 2, randomized, double blind, placebo controlled trial for the effectivness of wholistic turmeric supplementation on polyp burden mong patients with Familial Adenomatouse Polyposis (FAP). Fourty Patients will be randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to recieve treatment with 8 capsuls (2*4 capsuls/day) of wholistic Turmeric capsules (Pukka herbs) or placebo for six months.

This is a 12-month open-label randomized controlled study. Patients with schizophrenia and violence risk under the government supervision will be enrolled in the study. A community-based long-acting antipsychotics-treated management model will be applied to the experimental group, which means that professional psychiatrists will provide guidance to primary-level mental health workers on the psychotic treatment, and monthly-injected long-acting antipsychotic, paliperidone palmitate, will be used in the schizophrenia treatment. Every subject in experimental group will be equipped with an intelligent robot capable at push-to-talk and push-to-view, allowing the patients and caregivers to contact doctors for assistance at any time. The subjects in experimental group will be injected with 150mg eq and 100mg eq paliperidone palmitate in the deltoid at the 1st and 8th day, and afterwards a flexible dose of paliperidone palmitate from 75 to 150mg eq will be administrated monthly according to clinical judgement. Subjects in control group will be treated with oral antipsychotics or other conventional medication.
A multicenter prospective registry planned to recruit more than 5 000 patients with renal artery stenosis was carried out in China. This primary purpose of this study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of renal artery revascularization in the real world. The secondary purpose was to investigate the etiologic distribution of renal artery stenosis and optimize the indications for renal artery revascularization.
This study will determine the feasibility and effectiveness of a monthly social support group along with a weekly peer-to-peer meeting in improving perceived level of social support, diabetes distress, and A1c profiles in patients with Type II diabetes mellitus, compared with standard care offered at British Columbia Diabetes (BC Diabetes).

This open, single-arm,multicenter 2 phase clinical study will treat the patient who have CD19 positive lymphoma with an infusion of the patient's own T cells that have been genetically modified to express a chimeric antigen receptor(CAR)that will bind to tumour cells modified to express the CD19 protein on the cell surface. The study will determine if these modified T cells help the body's immune system eliminate tumour cells .The trial will also study the safety of treatment for CAR-T, how long CAR-T cells stay in the patient's body and the impact on this treatment for survival.
