Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy (EAET) as a Novel Migraine Treatment

This study tests the effect of a new behavioral intervention, Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy (EAET), as a possible new treatment for people living with migraine. The main questions it aims to answer are: Can EAET lower the frequency and severity of migraine attacks? What are the elements that can explain EAET's effect? Requirements from Participants: Participants will be randomized into either a treatment or control arms. Those who are assigned to the control arm are eligible to receive the treatment in the next cohort. Participants assigned to the treatment arms are expected to engage in 8 weekly online sessions via Zoom (sessions are 2 hours long). Each session has a lecture, in-class exercises, discussion, and weekly assignments. Each participant is required to fill out questionnaires before the first session, and after the last session of the treatment. Participants will benefit from a new and promising intervention that can significantly help with their migraines at no cost.

Pericapsular Nerve Block in Proximal Femoral Fractures

Proximal femoral fractures commonly occur above 50 years and regional anesthesia could be a complement in the perioperative treatment of the patients. The use of pericapsular nerve group block (PENG Block) has been proposed to reduce pain. However, no studies have explored the efficient of the systemic analgesia associated with PENG Block in functional limitation in the preoperative period. In this sense, the main goal of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of systemic analgesia associated with PENG Block in patients with proximal femoral fractures in the period preceding the surgical procedure.

BACKGROUND: Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), the most common entrapment neuropathy of the upper extremity, is caused by compression of the median nerve as it travels through the carpal tunnel CTs is a very common complication found in pregnancy, which is reported as high as 62% in pregnant females. The functioning of median nerve is compromised in almost all pregnant females especially during the third trimester of pregnancy, the majority may still feel some symptoms up to 3 years after delivery. Many clinicians have used LLLT on acupuncture points, which is called laser acupuncture (LA), to treat many clinical problems, such as musculoskeletal pain, lateral epicondylitis, headaches, etc. In contrast with traditional acupuncture needles, LA is a non-invasive therapy that does not cause tingling/pain during procedures Objective: to determine efficacy of laser acupuncture on electrophysiological parameters of median nerve in postpartum women

The Relationship Between Fibromyalgia Syndrome Parameters With Disease-Pain Severity and the Quality Of Life

In this study, the investigators aim to evaluate the relationship between disease severity, quality of life, anxiety and pain level in patients diagnosed with Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS) with the parameters according to the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) 2016 diagnostic criteria. According to the 2016 ACR diagnostic criteria, there are 2 separate scales: Widespread Pain Index (WPI) and Symptom Severity (SS) . The relationship between these 2 parameters and the Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire, the World Health Organization Short Quality of Life Questionnaire, and the McGill Melzack Pain Questionnaire and Beck Anxiety Questionnaire will be examined.

This study is a prospective, open-label, single-site, first-in-human study of a long-acting, injectable combination antiretroviral therapy platform, with a pharmacologically-guided adaptive design for dose escalation, de-escalation, and study duration. The study is designed to learn whether the formulation can be used as a platform for other drugs for treatment of HIV. The formulation is a drug combination nanoparticle (DCNP). The study will be conducted by UW Positive Research. The sample size for this study is 12-16. The study population consists of healthy adults without HIV. The study duration is 57 days per participant at the start of the study.

Forward Looking InfraRed Imaging and Severity Score in Complex Regional Pain Syndrome

The goal of this interventional study is to explore the use of InfraRed (FLIR) imaging in determining pain intensity and severity in newly diagnosed complex regional pain syndrome patients. The main questions it aims to answer are: Question 1: Can Infrared (FLIR) imaging be used to determine the severity of CRPS in newly diagnosed patients? Question 2: Is there any correlation with the quantification of 'the Δ thermal index value' measured by FLIR imaging with pain intensity (NRS) in newly diagnosed patients? Question 3: Is there any correlation between the quantification of 'the Δheat index value' measured by FLIR imaging between the two extremities with the severity (the severity score for CRPS) in newly diagnosed patients? Participants will have a picture of their foot taken using the forward looking infrared (FLIR) camera and answer questionnaires regarding their pain and complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS).
