NCT ID: NCT05637957 Recruiting - Stroke Clinical Trials

Feasibility of tDCS as an Adjunct to Outpatient Physiotherapy in Children With ABI

Start date: June 1, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study will evaluate the feasibility of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) as an adjunct to an outpatient motor skills-based physiotherapy intervention for children and youth with acquired brain injury. Up to 10 children (age 5-18 years) with childhood onset stroke or traumatic brain injury will be randomly allocated to receive active or sham anodal tDCS immediately prior to the physiotherapy session. These sessions will occur twice weekly for a total of 10 sessions. Assessment of gross motor outcome measures will occur immediately before and after the combined tDCS and physiotherapy treatment protocol. The preliminary treatment effect between the two treatment groups will be compared and other feasibility indicators will be evaluated.

NCT ID: NCT05636020 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Traumatic Brain Injury

Intervention to Change Affect Recognition and Empathy

ICARE
Start date: March 15, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Determine the feasibility, practicality, and early efficacy of a TeleRehab program (ICARE) to improve outcomes for persons with traumatic brain injury (TBI) in recognizing and responding to others' emotions alongside their care partner (CP).

NCT ID: NCT05632627 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Brain Injuries, Traumatic

Cannabinoids and Traumatic Brain Injury: A Randomized, Placebo Controlled Trial

Start date: April 11, 2023
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This is a double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel group study designed to assess the tolerability and efficacy of fsCBD and bsCBD, compared to a placebo control, to improve cognition and traumatic brain injury-related symptoms. If eligible for the study, subjects will be randomized to receive one of the conditions for 12 weeks.

NCT ID: NCT05628207 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Traumatic Brain Injury

Evaluation of the SCALED (SCaling AcceptabLE cDs)

Start date: May 16, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This project will adapt a currently deployed Clinical Decision Support (CDS) system to deliver a VTE prevention guideline for adult patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI). We believe this is an ideal PCOR use case given PCORI's continued effort to combat VTE in trauma and our experience previously implementing this guideline. The Our overall goal is to successfully scale, evaluate, and maintain an interoperable TBI CDS across 7 total institutions.

NCT ID: NCT05622461 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Traumatic Brain Injury

Setting Families on a Positive Path to Recovery After Pediatric TBI: Road-to-Recovery

Start date: February 13, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study has two main goals: 1) to refine and enhance the R2R-TBI intervention; and 2) to examine the efficacy of the R2R-TBI intervention in a randomized control trial. To achieve the second goal, we will employ a between-groups randomized treatment design with repeated measures at baseline, one-month post-randomization, and at a six-month follow-up. The two conditions will be: a) usual medical care plus access to internet resources regarding pediatric brain injury (Internet Resources Comparison group, IRC), and b) usual medical care plus the R2R-TBI intervention (Road-to-Recovery group, R2R-TBI).

NCT ID: NCT05594225 Recruiting - Brain Concussion Clinical Trials

Tele-Rehabilitation to Improve Mild Traumatic Brain Injury Recovery and Reduce Subsequent Injury Risk

Start date: August 23, 2023
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this clinical trial is to examine the feasibility, utility, and efficacy of a smartphone-based assessment battery and remotely administered virtual Neuromuscular/Dual-Task (vNDT) intervention among healthy U.S. military service members and physically active young adults with a recent concussion.

NCT ID: NCT05566431 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Severe Traumatic Brain Injury

Benchmark Evidence Led by Latin America: Trial of Intracranial Pressure - Pediatrics

BELA TRIPP
Start date: March 22, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Narrative: Worldwide, traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a leading cause of death and disability among children and adolescents. The Investigators aim to test whether pediatric TBI treatment guided by invasive intracranial pressure monitoring produces better patient outcomes than care guided by a protocol without invasive monitoring. Study findings will inform clinical practice in treating pediatric severe TBI globally. Focused didactic and experience-based learning opportunities will increase the research capacity of pediatric intensivists in Latin America.

NCT ID: NCT05533060 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Traumatic Brain Injury

Clinical and Molecular Biological Data Collection and Analysis in Patients With TBI

Start date: September 1, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

Clinical evaluation is crucial in the clinical diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis prediction in patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI). However, the existing evaluation systems are not perfect, because many factors are not taken into account, for example, there is a lack of molecular diagnostic criteria for evaluating patients with TBI. We attempt to collect the patient's clinical data and combine it with neuroimaging, as well as molecular biomarkers generated by single-cell sequencing to assess their neurological status and outcome. The clinical and molecular data collection and analysis will be helpful to evaluate the patient's neurological condition and predict the patient's outcome more accurately.

NCT ID: NCT05520710 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Mild Traumatic Brain Injury

Symptom-Targeted Rehabilitation for Concussion

STAR-C2
Start date: January 1, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The investigators are comparing two methods for helping improve everyday cognitive functioning in Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) veterans who have sustained a mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI). The two methods are 1) providing educational materials (Education Group) and 2) individual cognitive rehabilitation delivered by a trained Occupational Therapist or Speech-Language Pathologist (Therapy Group). The study is a pilot randomized controlled clinical trial (RCT), and will serve as pilot data for a future RCT.

NCT ID: NCT05517954 Recruiting - Epilepsy Clinical Trials

Cortical Excitability in Post-traumatic Epilepsy

Start date: August 1, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational

To test whether measures of cortical excitability derived from motor cortex transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) in patients with traumatic brain injury reflect heightened excitability relative to healthy controls and whether such measures can be used to distinguish patients with post-traumatic epilepsy from patients with head trauma but no epilepsy
