NCT ID: NCT00749307 Completed - Arrhythmia Clinical Trials

Effects of Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) on Heart Rate Variability in Elderly Patients

Start date: June 2008
Phase: Phase 2/Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to test the hypothesis that dietary supplementation with an algal source of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) can improve the heart rate variability in elderly patients.

NCT ID: NCT00733590 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Heart Failure, Congestive

Prospective Observational Study of the ICD in Sudden Cardiac Death Prevention

PROSe-ICD
Start date: June 2003
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The overall hypothesis of this study is that subtle interactions between structural (substrate) and functional (trigger) abnormalities of the heart, some of which are genetically-determined, can be used to identify patients at high risk of sudden cardiac death (SCD). Such information may be used to better define patients most likely to benefit from replacement of an internal defibrillator (ICD). The prospective, observational study to enroll, categorize and follow patients who receive an ICD pulse generator replacement for primary prevention of SCD (PROSe-ICD) was established to : 1. to gain a better understanding of the biological mechanisms that predispose to SCD 2. to develop readily determined clinical, electrocardiographic, genetic and blood protein markers identify patients with an increased risk of dying suddenly

NCT ID: NCT00721149 Terminated - Atrial Fibrillation Clinical Trials

NAVISTAR® THERMOCOOL® Catheter for the Radiofrequency Ablation of Symptomatic Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation- Treatment Use Study

AFTX
Start date: September 2008
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This trial evaluates the safety and effectiveness of catheter ablation for PAF. The investigational catheter being studied is the NAVISTAR® THERMOCOOL® irrigated-tip catheter. At the time of this study, the NAVISTAR® THERMOCOOL® Catheter was FDA-approved for commercial distribution in the U.S. for treating patients with Type I atrial flutter and drug refractory monomorphic sustained ventricular tachycardia post myocardial infarction. The catheter was approved for use in Europe for endocardial ablation for treating cardiac arrhythmias.

NCT ID: NCT00720655 Completed - Inflammation Clinical Trials

Effects of Fatty and Lean Fish Intake on Cardiovascular Risk Factors in Subjects With Coronary Heart Disease

Start date: August 2005
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The aim of the study is to examine the effects of fatty fish and white (lean) fish on cardiovascular disease risk factor levels in subjects with established coronary heart disease using multiple medications. The main end points are blood pressure, serum lipids, inflammatory markers, arrhythmias and gene expression in peripheral mononuclear cells. The study design was a controlled, parallel study lasting 8 weeks with three diet groups: fatty fish, white fish and control group (lean pork, beef or chicken).

NCT ID: NCT00719277 Active, not recruiting - Arrhythmia Clinical Trials

Feasibility Study: Sleuth Monitoring System

PULSE
Start date: December 2006
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of the study is to evaluate the safety and performance of the Sleuth Monitoring system.

NCT ID: NCT00627328 Completed - Atrial Fibrillation Clinical Trials

The Atrial High Rate Episodes in Pacemaker Patients

Start date: July 2000
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

Prospective study assessing the incidence of atrial high rate episodes (AHRE) in pacemaker patients with and without previously diagnosed AT.

NCT ID: NCT00624520 Terminated - Stress Clinical Trials

Mental Stress Reduction in Defibrillator Patients

Start date: September 2008
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to assess the effectiveness of a 10 week program of Stress Management versus control Patient Education sessions on cardiac responses to mental stress in veterans with Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillators

NCT ID: NCT00622453 Completed - Arrhythmia Clinical Trials

Arrhythmias in Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy

DM1
Start date: September 1996
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

Adult myotonic muscular dystrophy (Steinert's disease) is the most common inherited neuromuscular disorder. Cardiac rhythm disturbances occur frequently in this disease state and may be responsible for up to one-third of deaths. In this study, we intend to evaluate the utility of non-invasive electrocardiographic screening methods and history in predicting serious arrhythmic events.

NCT ID: NCT00584558 Completed - Arrhythmia Clinical Trials

Long-Term Follow-Up of Patients Undergoing Catheter Ablation

Start date: February 2001
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

The purpose of this study is to assess the long-term effects of catheter ablation procedures performed at the OU Medical Center.

NCT ID: NCT00579098 Completed - Atrial Fibrillation Clinical Trials

The Use of Statins Following a Left Atrial Catheter Ablation Procedure to Prevent Atrial Fibrillation

ATTAC
Start date: December 2007
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

To investigate whether statin therapy utilizing the drug Lipitor (atorvastatin) might be effective in preventing short-and long-term atrial fibrillation (AF) following a left atrial ablation procedure. We further hypothesize this reduction will result from diminished peri-procedural inflammation, which will be reflected in lower C-Reactive Protein (CRP) values in the blood.
