Filter by:The investigators prospectively want to compare 3 clinical tests for measuring blood troponin levels in patients presenting to the emergency room with thoracic pain probably related to a myocardial infarction with regard to the time necessary to obtain the test results. The tests are one laboratory based test and two point of care tests.
The purpose of this study is to determine whether a single intracoronary infusion of an adenovirus serotype 5 virus expressing the gene for human fibroblast growth factor-4 (Ad5FGF-4) is effective in improving angina-limited exercise duration, angina functional class, frequency of angina attacks, frequency of nitroglycerin usage, and quality of life. Half of the study participants will receive Ad5FGF-4, and half will receive placebo. The primary endpoint is the change from baseline to Month 6 in Exercise Tolerance Test (ETT) duration. Long-term safety of Ad5FGF-4 will also be assessed.
This RCT aims to determine if it is possible to perform acupuncture on men and women diagnosed with stable angina who have symptoms, chest pain, and/or chest discomfort. The investigators want to determine if acupuncture reduces the pain and other symptoms of angina, chest pain, and chest discomfort. The investigators also want to examine whether this study is acceptable to the participants, and by carrying out this study the investigators will be able to tell how many participants they will need in a future larger study to further test acupuncture to reduce the symptoms of angina in women.
MYDA-MI study is a randomized, placebo controlled, double blind study performed in San Filippo Neri Hospital, Roma, Italy. The planned study duration is 18 months. The objectives are to assess the effects of pre-treatment with probiotic Ecoviesel on the incidence and magnitude of peri-procedural myocardial damage caused by coronary angioplasty in stable patients. 250 patients with chronic stable angina scheduled for a coronary angiography and possible ad hoc angioplasty will be randomized to receive pre-treatment with Ecoviesel sachets (each sachet contains 200 billions bacteria) or Placebo. The pre-treatment dosage will be 4 sachets of probiotic Ecoviesel or placebo for at least 2 weeks before the planned procedure. In patients undergoing angioplasty the same treatment will be continued for 4 weeks after PCI with secondary outcome measures performed at the end of this second stage.
A randomised controlled trial to compare two strategies for the investigation of coronary artery disease at the time of angiography. Patients will be randomised to conventional angiography or additional, routine pressure wire assessment - measuring fractional flow reserve (FFR) - in all main vessels judged as being of sufficient vessel calibre to allow percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) (experimental arm).
Prospective, multi-center, registry designed to enrol up to 2,000 patients in up to 35 International centers. All patients will receive a BioMatrix AlphaTM stent as per clinical practice and will be followed for 2 years for data collection. Major adverse cardiac events (MACE) results at 9 months will be compared to the results obtained from the BioMatrix FlexTM arm of the LEADERS trial.
This is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, adaptive clinical trial, which will assess the effect of DanshenDuofensuanyan[Danshen (a kind of Chinese herbal drug) extract] treatment on Lipoprotein associated phospholipase A2 level in patients with stable angina pectoris.
CFD simulations in this study provide detailed hemodynamics information, which cannot be obtained from cardiac images alone. The investigators hypothesize that our proposed simulations will provide strong correlation between hemodynamic parameters, such as WSSG and SPA, and clinically identified graft stenosis. These correlations will allow the investigators to identify the future patients at high risk of graft stenosis and lead to future researches on optimizing and refining surgical plans, such as finding optimal proximal and distal anastomoses locations, optimal graft length and diameter, which could lead to improved longevity of the graft. Once CFD coupled shape optimizer is validated, it could be part of the surgical simulator to help in training the next generation physicians. It could provide new viewpoints for assessing whether some modified surgical techniques are better or not. It could also aid in designing and evaluating the vascular medical devices, including stent, artificial graft, and etc., which would lead to better surgical outcome.
This study involves the use of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) to determine whether blood clots can be identified within the blood vessels supplying blood to the heart in patients with angina and who have recently suffered a heart attack.
The objective of this study is a comparative evaluation of BuMA Supremeā¢ stent and of Xience V/Prime stent in terms of the extent of neointima formation at 1 or 2 months after implanting in relatively high bleeding risk patients with coronary artery disease using OCT.
