Filter by:The goal of this clinical study is to test the effectiveness of a supplemental fMRI neurofeedback and/or TMS intervention in individuals seeking treatment for Alcohol Use Disorder. After an initial visit, participants will come in once a week for four (4) weeks for an intervention session, which may or may not include TMS and MRI. Participants will be contacted for monthly follow-ups (remotely) for up to 12 months and will be asked to come in for two MRI follow-ups at 6 and 12 months.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of an adaptive web intervention (Partners Connect) on military spouse drinking behaviors (CPs) and service member help-seeking (SMs). The investigators want to identify for whom this intervention is most efficacious and on what drinking behaviors and mechanisms. The investigators hypothesize that the intervention will reduce concerned partner drinking and increase service member help-seeking, compared to website resources, and that phone-based CRAFT will increase help-seeking behaviors, compared to those who are guided via a CRAFT workbook.
This is a double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel group study designed to assess the efficacy of full spectrum CBD and broad spectrum CBD, compared to a placebo control (PC), to reduce drinking in participants with alcohol use disorder. If eligible for the study, subjects will be randomized to receive one of the conditions for 12 weeks.
This research project uses a Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) framework to test the efficacy of a culturally adapted relapse prevention intervention developed collaboratively by community partners from the Fort Peck Indian Reservation in northeastern Montana and research partners from Montana State University. The Indigenous Recovery Planning intervention employs trained Fort Peck community members to deliver manualized intervention content to American Indian adults with substance use disorder (SUD). By increasing access to culturally responsive evidence-based treatment, this research aims to decrease SUD-related health disparities and improve public health outcomes for underserved Native communities locally and nationally.
The goal of this single-arm clinical trial is to better understand the ways in which individuals seeking treatment recover from Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD). The main aims are to: - To establish operational definitions of types of change in relation to National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism's (NIAAA) new definition of recovery, and to distinguish between treatment response, remission versus recovery, and relapse versus recurrence. - To describe patterns of recovery, including the frequency of within-person transitions between types of change in clinical course to better understand the dynamic nature of recovery. - To examine the predictive relationships between theoretically important cognitive, behavioral, and affective process variables and changes during recovery, with a focus on how people initiate versus maintain change. Participants will: - Receive 12 weeks of psychotherapy for Alcohol Use Disorder - Complete brief assessments after each treatment session. - Complete brief assessments bi-weekly via phone for 1-year following treatment. - Complete in-person interviews at 3 or 6-month intervals post-treatment.
This study is conducted to examine the effect of a psychotherapy model that is expected to affect alcohol cravings in adults aged 18-65 years who are being treated for alcohol use disorder at a clinic. The psychotherapy intervention is expected to affect other variables such as clinical symptom level, self-efficacy level, and functionality level. This protocol is called addiction-focused eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (addiction-focused EMDR). Patients found suitable for the study will be divided into experimental and control groups. The intervention will be applied to the experimental group and not to the control group. At the end of the intervention, the effect of the intervention primarily on the level of craving will be compared with that of the control group. The intervention is expected to reduce the level of craving. The intervention is expected to have an impact on the other variables mentioned as well.
The purpose of this research study is to test new technology-driven programs to see if they might help people manage their health and health behaviors related to alcohol use and well-being. The programs focus on getting to know what's important to participants, reviewing or setting goals, and using different skills and behaviors to manage health. The study will help researchers learn about ways to deliver health information in a way that is useful and interesting.
Alcohol use disorder (AUD) is characterized by problematic alcohol use accompanied by clinically significant distress. This disorder is associated with high relapse rates, with one in five patients remaining abstinent 12 months post-treatment. Traditional face-to-face relapse prevention treatment (RPT) is a form of cognitive behavioural therapy that examines one's situational triggers, maladaptive thought processes, self-efficacy, and motivation, however access to this treatment is frequently limited due to its high cost, long waitlists, and inaccessibility. Thus, an online adaptation of RPT (e-RPT) could address these limitations by providing a more cost-effective and accessible delivery method for mental health care in this population. This study aims to establish the first academic e-RPT program to address AUD in the general population. We will recruit adult participants (n = 60) with a confirmed diagnosis of AUD. Then, these participants will be randomly assigned to receive ten sessions of e-RPT or face-to-face RPT. e-RPT will consist of 10 predesigned modules and homework with asynchronous personalized feedback from a therapist. Face-to-face RPT will consist of 10, one-hour long face-to-face sessions with a therapist. The predesigned modules and the face-to-face sessions will present the same content and structure. Self-efficacy, resilience, depressive symptomatology, and alcohol consumption will be measured through various questionnaires at baseline, week 5, and week 10. Outcome data will be assessed using linear and binomial regression (continuous and categorical outcomes respectively). Qualitative data will be analyzed using thematic analysis methods.
Ecological momentary interventions (EMI), which use phones to deliver messages to reduce alcohol use and related risk behaviors during or prior to drinking events, can help to address triggers in real-time. GPS tracking can determine when individuals visit places they have previously reported drinking or triggers to drink and then EMI messages can be delivered upon arrival to prevent risky alcohol use. A mobile app has been developed that uses GPS tracking to determine when emerging adult sexual minority male and transgender (SMMTs) persons visit "risky" places and then delivers a survey asking what behaviors they engaged in while at the location. The goal of the proposed study is to use this app to enhance the Tracking and Reducing Alcohol Consumption (TRAC) intervention by delivering messages that encourage participants to employ strategies discussed during TRAC sessions when arriving at risky places. When they leave these places, they will complete a survey and breathalyzer reading in order to collect event-level self-report and biological data on alcohol use and HIV risk. If their breathalyzer result indicates alcohol use, they will receive harm reduction messaging. It is expected that combining TRAC with EMI ("TRAC-ER") will increase effectiveness by reinforcing topics discussed during these sessions, providing in-the-moment messaging to address triggers, and collecting real-time alcohol use data.
The purpose of this study is to learn whether a mobile health application (mHealth App) for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) with brief support can help individuals who are in treatment for alcohol problems.
