Adenoma Detection Rate of 3D Colonoscopy

Adenoma detection rate (ADR) has been the most important quality indicator on colonoscopy because ADR was reversely related with CRC incidence and mortality. Several image enhanced technologies, such as narrow-band imaging (NBI) or linked colour imaging (LCI) had been proved to have ability to increase the ADR. 3D techonology, however, has not been validated on colonoscopy performance. Therefore, current study was to compare the ADR between new 3D colonoscopy and conventional 2D colonoscopy.

Near Infrared Autofluorescence (NIRAF) Detection for Identifying Parathyroid Glands During Parathyroidectomy

The goal of this study is to assess whether using PTeye (AiBiomed, Santa Barbara, CA) - a NIRAF detection modality - can improve patient outcomes and reduce healthcare associated costs after parathyroid surgeries. By being able to quickly and definitively locate parathyroid glands while in the operating room, the duration of surgical procedure could be further reduced. In addition, the number of frozen section biopsy and associated costs can be minimized. Furthermore, repeat surgeries as a result of missing a diseased parathyroid gland at the time of the initial parathyroidectomy for hyperparathyroidism could potentially be avoided.

At present there are no recommendations regarding the possibility of discontinuing treatment in cases of recurrent acromegaly with good hormonal control. Discontinuation of treatment is therefore most often decided by the practitioner, on the basis of his experience and knowledge of the patient, the long-term course with somatostatin analogues being very little described. Thus, although hormonal control is achieved in a majority of cases under medical treatment, we do not know if it is possible to stop treatment and in this case how the pathology evolves. It would appear that approximately 40% of patients defined as very good responders to somatostatin analogues may gradually space their injections.

Endocuff With or Without AI-assisted Colonoscopy

Colonoscopy is considered the gold standard for diagnosis of colonic polyps. However, it was reported that colonoscopy could still miss colonic polyps. Many attempts have been made to improve the detection rate of colonoscopy. Artificial intelligence (AI) is a promising new technique to improve detection rate of colonic adenoma. However, it remains uncertain whether whether the combined use of Endocuff and AI assisted examination could help to further improve the adenoma detection rate. This is a prospective randomized trial comparing the use of endocuff with AI, AI alone or conventional colonoscopy examination on adenoma detection rate.
