NCT ID: NCT06304285 Recruiting - Parkinson's Disease Clinical Trials

A Study Assessing the Effects of Acupuncture in Parkinson's Disease Patients With Chronic Appendicitis

Start date: March 1, 2024
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The incidence of PD is high, and when the disease is serious to a certain extent, the effect of drugs to control symptoms decreases, resulting in a significant reduction in the quality of life of patients. Recent studies have found that these PD symptoms are closely related to the intestine. For several cases of PD syndrome patients complicated with chronic appendicitis, our research group conducted acupuncture on points related to constipation and chronic appendicitis, and found that constipation and related motor symptoms of patients could be significantly improved. Clinical studies have shown that acupuncture also has a certain therapeutic effect on non-motor symptoms of Parkinson's disease, such as anxiety and depression, decreased olfactory function, sleep disorders, constipation, early skeletal muscle pain, cognitive dysfunction, etc., which can delay the progression of the disease and improve the quality of life of patients. Starting from intestinal acupuncture, this project further clarified the role of acupuncture treatment in the comprehensive treatment of PD

NCT ID: NCT06042465 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome

Investigation on Efficacy Between TCM Treatment Using Acupuncture and Tui-na With Physiotherapy on Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome

Start date: October 18, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Knee pain is one of common pain-causing diseases and it affects patients' mobility which in turn seriously affects the quality of patients' life. The most common cause of knee pain results from the inflammation occurred at the patello-femoral joint of the anterior knee. It is now commonly recognized as Patello-femoral pain syndrome (PFPS). It is categorized as anterior knee pain. The exact pathogenesis of PFPS is still not clear but both Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Western Medicine (WM) have many treatment methods. Hence, it is important and meaningful to investigate the diagnosis and treatment in detail. Through reviewing the literature about PFPS, the investigators would like to achieve the following objectives in the study design. Under the principle of evidence-based medicine, the investigators compare the clinical effectiveness of TCM acupuncture and Tui-na manipulations treatment with the physiotherapy on the PFPS management. The study is to determine whether which are effective in improving knee function and lessening the pain in PFPS patients.

NCT ID: NCT06001112 Recruiting - Acute Pain Clinical Trials

Immediate Analgesic Effects of Cheek Acupuncture for Acute Gouty Arthritis

CAAGA
Start date: September 1, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this clinical trial is to evaluate the immediate analgesic effect and patients' evaluation of the treatment of cheek acupuncture in patients with acute gouty arthritis. The main question it aims to answer are: Does cheek acupuncture has immediate pain relief effects on patients with acute gouty arthritis. Participants will received cheek acupuncture for 30 mins. If there is a comparison group: Researchers will compare etoricoxib group to see if cheek acupuncture is superior to etoricoxib for improvement of acute pain in subjects with acute gouty arthritis.

NCT ID: NCT05894798 Recruiting - Acupuncture Clinical Trials

Acupuncture in Infantile Colic - A Randomised Trial.

Start date: August 1, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

About 10 per cent of all new born babies in Sweden have infant colic. This may affect the the whole family and the early connection between the baby and the parents. Although, there are no effective and safe treatment. Acupuncture is an environmental friendly method that affects pain, anxiety, sleep and the function of gastrointestinal system. Several studies have shown various results, and there are a need for high-qualitative randomised controlled trials to investigate the proposed effect further. 128 children will be randomised into two groups; acupuncture at LI4 or no acupuncture, parents will be blinded. Statistical calculations will be performed on the content of the diaries (bowel movement frequency, crying time, feeding). Registration of crying/crying in connection with acupuncture treatment, i.e. when the needle touches the skin or later until the needle is removed and 30 seconds after.

NCT ID: NCT05801666 Recruiting - Acupuncture Clinical Trials

Acupuncture Effect on Dumping Syndrome in Esophagus Cancer Patients With Feeding Jejunostomy

Start date: February 10, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Esophagus cancer patients are at risk for malnourishment. Feeding jejunostomy is used in advanced esophagus cancer patients in order to support and supplement the patient's nutrition needs. In dumping syndrome, the food is rapidly introduced into the intestine at a rate that is faster than normal, it is associated with both digestive system and vasoactive symptoms. Dumping syndrome has an association with both esophagus cancer patients and feeding jejunostomy. In the mid and long term, dumping syndrome is an important issue that contributes to the risk of malnourishment in advanced esophagus cancer patients. Acupuncture effect on digestive symptoms was widely investigated with effective abilities to regulate and reduce digestive symptoms. Acupuncture is also considered a safe intervention for cancer patients. A total of 60 advanced esophageal cancer patients will be divided into two equal groups, the intervention group (n=30) and the control groups (n=30). Patients in the Intervention group will receive acupuncture using the following acupoints: ST36 (Zusanli), ST37 (Shangjuxu), ST39 (Xiajuxu), PC6 (Neiguan), and LI4 (Hegu) liv 3 (Taichung). Patients and assessors will be blind to trial allocation. The patients in the Control group will receive shallow acupuncture on 12 non-acupoints (sham points). Both groups will receive acupuncture twice a week for 6 weeks. The main outcome measurements are body weight, BMI, the Sigstad's score and the Arts' dumping questionnaire, 3 and 6 months mortality.

NCT ID: NCT05692258 Recruiting - Acupuncture Clinical Trials

Acupuncture as an Adjunctive Therapy for Covid-19 Omicron Randomised Controlled Trial in Patients With Moderate/Severe Pneumonia

ZCFZZLXGBDFYHZ
Start date: January 6, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

At present, China is facing the first wave of COVID-19 epidemic after the liberalization. The infection rate has exceeded 50% in most areas, and even exceeded 80% in some cities. Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) belongs to the beta genus of coronavirus and enters cells mainly by binding angiotensin converting enzyme 2 (ACE-2) to the spike protein on the envelope. The Omicron strain is the main epidemic strain at present. The transmission ability of Omicron strain is stronger than Delta strain, but the pathogenicity is weakened. At present, the published articles on the adjuvant treatment of COVID-19 with acupuncture are mostly theoretical discussions or case reports, and randomized controlled trials on the observation of curative effect are rare. The purpose of this study is to clarify the effectiveness of the adjuvant treatment of COVID-19 with acupuncture. Providing high-level research evidence for them.
