Abbott Vascular (AV) obtained marketing approval for the XIENCE PRIME Everolimus Eluting Coronary Stent System (XIENCE PRIME EECSS) in China from the China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA) on August 10th, 2011. This prospective, observational, open-label, multi-center, single-arm, post-approval study is designed to evaluate the continued safety and effectiveness of the XIENCE PRIME EECSS in a cohort of real-world patients receiving the XIENCE PRIME EECSS during commercial use in real-world settings in China. This study has no primary outcome measure. All observations are of equal weight.

Screening and Access to Health Care for Vascular Disease

This is a pilot study designed to validate our methods of recruitment, screening and data collection in the community. The project will help to establish the feasibility of the study design to lay the groundwork for a potentially larger study. The final study will allow us to estimate the incidence and prevalence of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA), carotid artery stenosis, and peripheral artery disease (PAD) in different geographic areas in a large urban setting, as well as determine patient access to healthcare and treatment for vascular disease as related to geographic and racial differences.

Vascular Risk Factors in INPH-patients

Idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (INPH) is a treatable and a common disease of the elderly. The overall objective of this work is to describe cardio- and cerebrovascular risk factors and vascular disease in shunted INPH-patients compared to an age- and sex matched elderly population, as well as the impact of vascular risk factors and vascular co-morbidity on clinical symptoms and outcome of surgery in INPH-patients. The hypothesis is that INPH-patients have a higher level of vascular risk factors and subclinical organ damage than a normal elderly population, and that the higher the level of existing vascular risk factors, the more severe the symptoms of the hydrocephalic disease.

Neurological Complications Comparing Endoscopically vs. Open Harvest of the Radial Artery

Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) using the radial artery (RA) has since the nineties gone through a revival. The initially reported worse outcome in RA graft patients compared to patients grafted with the saphenous vein (SV) has since been corrected. Studies have shown better patency when using RA, so the RA is going to be preferred more and more especially in younger patients where long time patency is critical. During the last 10 years endoscopic techniques to harvest the RA have evolved. Multiple different techniques have been used, but now the equipment and technique have been refined and are highly reliable. The investigators hypothesize that the endoscopic technique has less complications and a just as good patency as open harvest. There are also two possible ways to use the RA as a graft. One way is sewing it onto the aorta and another way is sewing it onto the mammarian artery. The investigators hypothesize that using it on the mammarian artery is superior as a revascularisation technique with just as good a patency as sewing it directly onto the aorta.

Endothelial Injury and Development of Coronary Intimal Thickening After Heart Transplantation

Coronary allograft vasculopathy (CAV) is the leading cause of late graft failure and second leading cause of late mortality after heart transplantation. CAV has been associated with a variety of traditional risk factors for atherosclerosis; however, immune mediated injury from development of de-novo donor-specific antibodies after transplantation also likely plays an important role. Similar to the progression of traditional atherosclerosis, it is likely that endothelial dysfunction is the precursor to the development of intimal thickening and CAV. The investigators hypothesize that coronary allograft vasculopathy after heart transplantation as defined by progressive neointimal hyperplasia is preceded by endothelial dysfunction, which in turn is at least partly mediated by donor specific antibodies. The investigators are proposing a prospective study in humans to test the above hypothesis and further mechanistically understand how CAV progresses. In this study the investigators will test for coronary endothelial function by infusing acetylcholine into the coronary artery and measure intimal hyperplasia by optical coherence tomography (OCT) and compare findings in patients with and without donor specific antibodies.

The results of this study provided long-term safety and efficacy data used to generate further guidance on the management of patients with PCV.
