Filter by:This is a prospective, randomized, active-controlled, open label, parallel two-arm, multi-center, post-approval study descriptively comparing the XIENCE V EECSS to the CYPHER SELECT PLUS Sirolimus-Eluting Coronary Stent System (SECSS) ("CYPHER SELECT PLUS") during commercial use in China.
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common sustained dysrhythmia encountered in clinical practice in North America and Europe, accounting for approximately one-third of all hospitalizations for a cardiac rhythm abnormality. The presence of AF markedly increases the patient's risk for developing arterial embolism and stroke, depending on the presence of other clinical conditions, such as hypertension and diabetes. AF is associated with a fivefold increased risk for stroke, and is estimated to cause 15% of all strokes. Patients with AF frequently have several risk factors for atherosclerosis, including hypertension, diabetes, and dyslipidemia. Accordingly, systemic signs of atherosclerosis can be detected in AF patients, and these likely accounts for an enhanced risk of coronary heart disease. In addition to cerebrovascular disease, patients with AF may suffer from coronary events including myocardial infarction (MI), but the rate of MI in AF patients seems to be variable, but often underestimated. Moreover, coexistence of peripheral arterial disease (PAD) is a relevant clinical sign of systemic atherosclerosis. Ankle-brachial index (ABI) is a simple, inexpensive, and non-invasive PAD measurement, even at the pre-symptomatic phase when intervention can improve prognosis and prevent or delay severe complications ABI is calculated by measuring the systolic blood pressure in the posterior tibial and/or the dorsalis pedis arteries either in both legs or 1 leg chosen at random (using a Doppler probe or alternative pulse sensor), with the lowest ankle pressure then divided by the brachial systolic blood pressure. In addition to peripheral artery disease, the ABI also is an indicator of generalized atherosclerosis because lower levels have been associated with higher rates of concomitant coronary and cerebrovascular disease, and with the presence of cardiovascular risk factors. Two large studies in patients with AF document the existence of PAD in about 3-5% of patients. It is possible, however, that such an incidence has been underestimated as only symptomatic patients were considered as affected by PAD. As PAD is an important marker of systemic atherosclerosis, its association with AF reinforces the concept that patients with AF have systemic atherosclerosis that potentially account for coronary complications. To date, a national registry of AF patients is not available to verify the real impact of cardiovascular events in this clinical setting.

XIENCE V USA is a prospective, multi-center, multi-cohort post-approval study. The objectives of this study are - To evaluate XIENCE V EECSS continued safety and effectiveness during commercial use in real world settings, and - To support the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) initiative. This initiative is designed to evaluate the composite of all death, myocardial infarction (MI) and stroke (MACCE) and the survival of patients that are free from Academic Research Consortium (ARC) definite or probable stent thrombosis (ST) and that have been treated with drug eluting stents (DES) and extended dual antiplatelet therapy.
OSPREY is a multi-center, single arm, non-randomized, prospective clinical trial. Subjects will undergo a superficial femoral artery (SFA) stent procedure using the Misago™ Peripheral Self Expanding stent once all of the inclusion and none of the exclusion criteria are met. The stent efficacy and safety will be evaluated immediately post procedure, and at 30 days, 6, 12, 24, and 36 months post procedure. A subject is considered enrolled into the OSPREY study after he/she signs the informed consent and meets all inclusion/exclusion criteria. The study objectives are to demonstrate that efficacy and safety of this novel stent design are not inferior to historical Percutaneous Transluminal Angioplasty (PTA) and stent outcomes and meet the performance goals as published in the objective performance goals by Rocha-Singh, et al. This is a multi-center, single arm, non-randomized, prospective clinical trial of the Misago™ Self-Expanding Stent System for the treatment of atherosclerotic stenosis and occlusions of the SFA. The primary endpoint of stent patency will be evaluated at 12 months.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the AVJ-09-385 Small Vessel Everolimus Eluting Coronary Stent System (EECSS) (2.25 mm diameter stent) in treatment of subjects with ischemic heart disease caused by de novo lesions.
The purpose of this study is to investigate how systematic physical training after endovascular treatment influence the durability of the endovascular treatment and how it effects physical function, quality of life and future cardiovascular events.
This is a prospective, randomized, multi-center study recruiting patients with an in-stent restenosis in the superficial femoral artery. The safety and efficacity of the Viabahn endoprosthesis (W.L. Gore & Associates), a heparin-bonded endoprosthesis, is compared with plain old balloon angioplasty (POBA). In 4 Belgian and 2 German centers a total of 80 Patients will be recruited. Primary endpoint is primary patency at 12 months, defined as no evidence of restenosis or occlusion within the originally treated lesion based on color-flow duplex ultrasound (CFDU) measuring a peak systolic velocity ratio ≤2.5, and without target lesion revascularization (TLR) within 12 months. In comparison to POBA, it is expected that the use of the Viabahn endoprosthesis (W.L. Gore & Associates) will result in greater 12 month primary patency of treated superficial femoral artery in-stent restenotic lesions.
