Statin InTensity to Prevent Coronary Artery Vasculopathy After Heart Transplantation

The investigator's propose to conduct an open-label randomized controlled trial to determine if higher intensity statin (HS) can reduce CAV in comparison to lower intensity statin (LS) after HT. All consecutive patients that meet eligibility criteria will be approached for participation. After heart transplantation, participants (n=70) will be randomized in a 1:1 manner to either HS (Atorvastatin 80 mg daily) or LS (Pravastatin 40 mg daily). Study participation will be for 2 years from the time of randomization.

Effects of Daily Beef Intake, as a Component of a Heart-Healthy Diet on Cellular Zinc

The objective of the current study is to test the overarching hypothesis that the beef nutritive matrix is uniquely suited to direct dietary zinc to cellular compartments for improved metabolic function, leading to a greater effect on health outcomes. Specifically, whether beef, as a component of a healthy meal, will promote the absorption of zinc into cells, where the zinc will have greater effects on zinc-dependent metabolic processes supporting cardiovascular health. To maximize the observability of these beef-related effects, individuals who are 55- to 70-year-old who generally have a higher risk of zinc deficiency and cardiovascular disease will be enrolled.

Efficacy of Gadoterate Meglumine in Diagnosis of Vascular Diseases Using MRA MRA

The purpose of this study is to compare magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) using gadoterate meglumine to clinically obtained MRA using gadobutrol. The specific aims are to show: 1. Carotid, chest, and abdomenal MRA with gadoterate meglumine has a comparable image quality and diagnostic confidence to MRA using gadobutrol. 2. Carotid, chest, and abdomenal MRA with gadoterate meglumine has a comparable accuracy for vascular lesion and stenosis detection compared to MRA using gadobutrol.

Endovascular Repair With In Situ nEedle feNestration of Left Subclavian Artery to Treat AoRtic Dissection(RISEN STAR):A Multicenter Prospective Trial.

Background: Aortic dissection (AD) is a common emergency in vascular surgery, which seriously threatens human life and health. The rupture of Stanford type B dissection is located in aortic arch and the dissection range is from the descending aorta or involves the abdominal aorta. At present, the endovascular repair of the thoracic aorta (TEVAR) for AD has been widely deployed worldwide and has become the standard surgical procedure for the treatment of AD. However, there is still controversy regarding the Stanford B aortic dissection that involves the left subclavian artery or the stent landing area less than 1.5 cm. Study objective: To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of endovascular repair with in situ needle fenestration of left subclavian artery. Methods: This study intends to enroll 217 patients with Stanford type B aortic dissection who meet the enrollment criteria. The patients will be followed up at 1, 6, 12, and 24 months after endovascular repair, and the CTA images of the thoracic aorta were collected.

Drug Eluting Balloon (DEB) vs Plain Old Balloon Angioplasty (POBA) in the Treatment of Failing Dialysis Access

Background Conventional percutaneous transluminal angioplasty is still considered standard treatment for treatment of dysfunctional haemodialysis fistulas and grafts. The most important drawback with this treatment is frequent restenosis leading to a high number of secondary procedures. There is conflicting evidence in the literature regarding primary or secondary treatment with drug eluting balloons (DEB). These balloons deliver Paclitaxel locally, which acts as an antiproliferative drug and may improve treatment outcomes. Methods This study was conducted as a prospective 1:1 randomized single centre clinical trial. Participants had primary or re-stenotic lesions in native upper extremity arteriovenous fistulas or at the graft-venous anastomosis. Patients were randomized to direct primary dilatation, with either a standard balloon or a DEB. The primary effectiveness endpoints were freedom from target lesion revascularization (TLR), access circuit revascularization or thrombosis, functional status of access circuit at 12 months. Secondary endpoints were procedural complications, procedural success, follow up survival and time to target lesion revascularization.
