Ilaprazole for the Treatment of Duodenal Ulcer in Chinese Patients (Phase 3)

Patients with endoscopically diagnosed active duodenal ulcer disease were enrolled in a randomized, double-blind, parallel and positive-controlled trial. They were randomly assigned into two groups, 10 mg/day ilaprazole and 20 mg/day omeprazole, to be treated for up to four weeks and be seen at week 1, 2 and 4. The primary endpoint was the ulcer healing rate at week 4. Healing of ulcer was determined by its resolution from active to scarring stage. Symptoms relief was evaluated as secondary end points by using a graded score. Safety and tolerability were evaluated on basis of clinical assessments.

Although major improvements in the management and treatment of diabetic foot ulcers have been made, the clinical and financial burden of such long-term wounds is still high and is likely to increase as the general population ages. The large population affected by diabetic foot ulcers and the high rates of failure ending with amputation even with the best therapeutic regimens have resulted in the development of new therapies. I-020201 is a bioactive therapy intended for topical treatment of hard-to-heal diabetic foot ulcers, stimulating the granulation tissue formation. This study aims to evaluate the safety and efficacy of I-020201 in adjunct to good standard of care in patients with chronic diabetic foot ulcer.

Pivotal Trial of Dermagraft(R) to Treat Venous Leg Ulcers

This study randomly assigns patients with venous leg ulcers to receive standard therapy (compression) alone or compression plus Dermagraft(R). Dermagraft is a device containing live human fibroblasts grown on an absorbable Vicryl mesh. Patients are seen weekly until they heal or the 16-week treatment period is complete. Follow-up visits are conducted monthly for three months in order to assess patients for longer term safety.
