Long-term Outcome of Patients With Acute Ulcerative Colitis After First Course of Intravenous Corticosteroids

All episodes of patients with acute UC admitted to Tampere University Hospital and treated with intravenous corticosteroids between January 2007 and January 2016 were identified from patient records and reviewed. The risks for colectomy and for continuous use of corticosteroids were evaluated. Predictive factors were analysed.

TEWL Biomarker Study for Diabetic Foot Ulcer Recurrence

This is a multicenter study of patients with diabetic foot ulcers (DFU) to develop and validate potential tissue-based biomarkers that predict DFU wound recurrence. Trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL) will be measured on the closed wound site and a location similar to the wound site (reference site). Participants will be enrolled within two weeks after closure of their DFU. Complete wound healing will be verified at a second visit two weeks later and this visit will start the 16 week timeline where participants will be followed weekly by phone until the earliest of DFU wound recurrence or 16 weeks. Participants who experience a DFU wound recurrence and a subset of participants who do not experience a DFU wound recurrence by week 16 will be asked to attend one final visit.

Evaluation of the Impact of the Repositioning Schedule Adapted to the Risk of Pressure Ulcer of Patients in Intensive Care Unit

Pressure ulcers represent a major health issue because of their high incidence and their important consequences. There is an important risk of pressure ulcer acquisition for ICU patients with acute organ failure(s). Specific risk factors identified in ICU are immobility, which accentuates the effects of friction and shears, as well as mechanical ventilation and the use of vasopressors. A repositioning schedule is a guideline for pressure ulcer prevention, but repositioning frequency remains unknown. Adaptation of the repositioning schedule to pressure ulcer risk assessment using Braden scale should decrease the emergence of pressure ulcer. This could limit their important consequences for ICU patients which add to their brittle clinical condition (infection, increased length of stay, mortality…).

Dose-Evaluation Study of the Efficacy and Safety of TLA Gut™ Leukapheresis Treatment in Patients With Ulcerative Colitis

An open-label, randomised, multi-centre, dose evaluation study of the efficacy and safety of TLA Gut™ leukapheresis treatment in patients with UC. The aim of this trial is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of two different TLA Gut™ dose regimens in patients with acute exacerbation of UC. Enrolled patients will participate in a 6-week treatment phase and a 20- week follow-up phase. The treatment phase consists of two periods; 2 weeks in which patients will undergo two treatment sessions per week, followed by 4 weeks of a single treatment session per week. The follow-up phase consists of 2 visits, one visit at week 7 and the last visit at week 26. Telephone visits will be conducted between these visits. In all a patient will undergo 8 treatment visits and 2 follow-up visits. Only patients not having experienced an earlier recurrence will participate in the follow-up phase.

The purpose of this study is to determine the safety and efficacy of using remestemcel-L, an ex vivo culture-expanded adult allogeneic bone marrow derived mesenchymal stem cell product (MSCs) delivered by targeted endoscopic delivery to treat people for medically refractory ulcerative colitis. This study will enroll adult patients with medically refractory ulcerative colitis who are planning to switch biologic therapy or undergo colectomy as the next stage in their treatment plan.

Peripheral Catheter Pressure Ulcer Prevention in Pediatry : Use of Compresses Versus Standard Care

Peripheral venous catheterisation is a multi-daily practice in a paediatric ward. In our pediatrics department, nurses have observed for several years now the appearance of pressure sore-like skin lesions at the junction of the peripheral venous catheter with the extension tube. A ward habit has spontaneously developed of applying a compress under this junction. The objective is to minimize physical or emotional aggression as well as pain. Pain that is denied or not identified and not relieved is memorized by the child, which can have consequences on the perception of pain and the subsequent acceptance of care. To date, through their reading and research, investigators have been able to find articles mentioning the risks of pressure ulcers in children related to medical devices. However, few elements are developed concerning catheter-related pressure ulcers, especially on this specific technique for preventing injuries at the catheter-extension tube junction. Investigators have not found any recommendations on this subject. Thus, the aim of this study is to compare two peripheral venous catheter fixation devices, with compress and without compress, and to analyse the frequency of pressure ulcer occurrence and the intensity of this lesion.

The Patient Empowerment Study is an observational longitudinal study among adults with diabetic foot ulcer (DFU). The scope of this study is to better understand how a patient's DFU disease process and usage of the Podimetrics System can impact patient health-related quality of life. Health-related quality of life will be measured by both the generic 36-item Short-Form Health Survey (SF-36) questionnaire and the ulcer-specific Diabetic Foot Ulcer Scale Short Form (DFS-SF) questionnaire.

We are going to conduct a comparative study to analyze the clinical effectiveness and user convenience of EZ clips that have been used in upper gastrointestinal ulcer bleeding and newly developed clip (ClearEndoclip, FineMedix, Taegu) in Korea. 1) Research hypothesis and purpose - This study was designed to prove the hypothesis that the hemostatic effect of newly developed endoscopic clip (ClearEndoclip, FineMedix, Taegu, Korea) is not inferior to that of EZ clip (Olympus, Tokyo, Japan) in the treatment of hemostasis for patients who visited the upper gastrointestinal ulcer bleeding. - This study was designed as a multi-center (9 institutions), open-labelled, randomized comparative clinical trial (1:1 ratio).

The worse prognosis observed in patients with Diabetic Foot Ulcer (DFU) has not been fully understood. Poor prognosis may be related to other conditions (inflammation, infectious disease, cancers) further to cardiovascular disease. The aim of the study is to conduct the first prospective, observational and multi-centre cohort of patients with DFU in France, in order to evaluate the 5-years mortality rate, its causes and relevant prognostic determinants.
