Effect of Meal Timing in T2D on Hepatocytes SRIT1 and Clock Genes

Liver-CG
Start date: May 31, 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study is undertaken to explore in T2D, the effect of meal timing on serum induced SIRT1 and Clock Genes mRNA expression in cultured hepatocytes. Fasting serum samples were collected from T2D participants, following two different meal timing schedules, either a diet with large breakfast and lunch with small dinner Breakfast Diet (3Mdiet) or an isocaloric diet with 6 small meals evenly distributed along the day Allday Diet (6Mdiet). The researchers will use an ex-vivo/in-vitro approach in which cultured medium will be conditioned with the fasted human serum collected from the two groups of T2D participants at baseline, after 2 weeks and after 12 week of the diet intervention.

NCT ID: NCT04403841 Completed - Type 2 Diabetes Clinical Trials

Effect of Group Patient Education on Glycemic Control Among People Living With Type 2 Diabetes in Vietnam

Start date: August 1, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study measures the effect of a 3-month patient education and self-management intervention in a low-resource setting, on diabetes knowledge and levels of blood glucose control.

NCT ID: NCT04403217 Recruiting - Type 2 Diabetes Clinical Trials

Effect of MEDiterranean Diet on the microBIOME of Individuals With Type 2 Diabetes

MEDBIOME
Start date: April 1, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Dysbiosis of gut microbiota is associated with the pathophysiology of type 2 diabetes. Mediterranean diet has been indicated as a dietary pattern that promote the integrity of gut barrier and that has positive impact in the metabolic control of subjects with type 2 diabetes. This is a 12-week, single-arm clinical study that aims to evaluate if the effect of Mediterranean diet in metabolic control of these subjects is mediated by gut microbiota. Subjects will receive personalized nutrition counseling where Mediterranean diet will be promoted.

NCT ID: NCT04386187 Completed - Type 2 Diabetes Clinical Trials

Glutathione-rich Foods for Type 2 Diabetes

GSH
Start date: July 28, 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this research study is to find out whether certain plant-based foods may be beneficial for individuals with type 2 diabetes. To meet the goal, study participants will be fed known amounts of foods and nutrients. Before and after participants have eaten the food, they will self-measure height, weight, and waist circumference and study staff will administer questionnaires. Blood samples will be taken at a local lab to measure blood sugar and blood lipids. All study appointments will be conducted online.

NCT ID: NCT04383639 Completed - Type 2 Diabetes Clinical Trials

Cocoa/Carob Polyphenols and Postprandial Changes in Type 2 Diabetes

CACAOBA
Start date: May 3, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The aim of this is study is to evaluate the effects of a single intake of a mixture of cacao and carob (rich in high molecular weight polyphenols) in postprandial metabolism in subjects with type 2 diabetes. Studies on the effects of polyphenols on postprandial (glucidic and lipidic) metabolism have commonly been performed in animal models and have used food extracts, ignoring high molecular weight polyphenols as relevant bioactive compounds. In this study, the potential of this kind of polyphenols for regulating postprandial disturbances in type 2 diabetes subjects, since these alterations increased the cardiovascular risk in these subjects, will be evaluated. The study has been designed in order to differentially evaluate the effect of intact polyphenols and that of microbial-derived phenolic metabolites.

NCT ID: NCT04383197 Recruiting - Type 2 Diabetes Clinical Trials

Exercise and GLP-1 RA on Insulin Secretion

EXISECRET
Start date: December 10, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of endurance exercise on insulin secretory capacity, alone or in addition to treatment with the glucagon-like-peptide receptor agonist semaglutide, in patients with type 2 diabetes.

NCT ID: NCT04374578 Completed - Type 2 Diabetes Clinical Trials

Effect of Dulaglutide on Glycemic Variability in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes

DIVE
Start date: May 8, 2020
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Glycemic variability will be assessed using continuous glucose monitor(CGM) in type 2 diabetic patients who receive dulaglutide 1.5 mg/qw injection for 4 weeks.

NCT ID: NCT04373967 Recruiting - Type 2 Diabetes Clinical Trials

Study to Assess the Efficacy and Safety of Liraglutide in the Treatment of Type 2 Diabetes

Start date: April 29, 2020
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Liraglutide injection is a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) analogue that activates the cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) and mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway by binding to the GLP-1 receptor (GLP-1R),thus,it has physiological effects such as glucose-dependent insulin synthesis and secretion, inhibition of β-cell apoptosis, promotion of β-cell proliferation and regeneration, inhibition of glucagon secretion, reduction of food intake, delay of gastric emptying, enhancement of glucose utilization in peripheral tissues and reduction of glycogen output. Liraglutide injection, developed and marketed as Victoza® by Novo Nordisk,is indicated for the treatment of patients with type 2 diabetes and was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in 2010.This 26-week trial compares the effectivity on glycaemic control, safety and immunogenicity of liraglutide injection and Victoza® in patients with type 2 diabetes inadequately controlled by oral metformin alone.

NCT ID: NCT04369664 Completed - Type 2 Diabetes Clinical Trials

CHOlesterol Lowering and Residual Risk in Type 2 Diabetes

CHORD
Start date: August 12, 2020
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to investigate why individuals with type 2 diabetes are at increased risk for heart disease and stroke. This study will investigate risk factors for heart disease and stroke, including platelet (involved in clotting) activity, inflammation, blood vessel wall function, and genetic information (blueprints of your cells), in participants with type 2 diabetes and elevated cholesterol. This study will also include a control group - subjects with elevated cholesterol who do not have diabetes. All participants will be given cholesterol-lowering medicines (PCSK9 inhibitor and statin or ezetimibe) for 1 month with the same risk factors being measured following cholesterol reduction. This study will help understand why individuals with type 2 diabetes are at higher risk for heart disease and stroke before and even after cholesterol reduction.
