Pivotal Trial of a Digital Therapeutic for the Treatment of Type 2 Diabetes

BT-001 is a software program intended to help patients with type 2 diabetes, under the guidance of their physician, improve glycemic control (i.e., levels of blood sugar). The BT-001 software delivers a type of behavioral therapy to patients via a mobile application that targets behaviors related to achieving glycemic control. The effectiveness of BT-001 will be measured by its ability to help patients reduce Hemoglobin A1c, or HbA1c (a marker in the blood that measures blood sugar) compared to standard medical care in patients with type 2 diabetes.

Social Media-Delivered Patient Education in Enhancing Type 2 Diabetics Self-Management and Attitudes During the COVID-19 Pandemic

The current study was to develop a software "Line@" based health education program, providing video-based health information and communication between diabetes patients and health-care professionals. This study also evaluated its effectiveness on improving glycemic control, attitude towards diabetes, knowledge about diabetes and self-care for type 2 diabetes patients in Taiwan. The followings were the hypotheses of the study: 1. Compared to the control group, intervention group receiving "Line" based video education has a greater improvement on glycosylated hemoglobin (A1C). 2. Compared to the control group, intervention group receiving "Line" based video education has a greater positive effect on attitude towards diabetes. 3. Compared to the control group, intervention group receiving "Line" based video education has a better understanding on diabetic knowledge. 4. Compared to the control group, intervention group receiving "Line" based video education has a greater positive effect on self-care activity.

Dark Chocolate and Glucose Levels in Diabetes

Diabetes is a growing concern in the world with an estimated 9.3% of adults, ages 20-79, with it in 2019, type 2 diabetes accounting for 90% of this total. A common recommendation for individuals with diabetes is to limit sugars and sweets as it may cause a high blood glucose response. As a result, chocolate is often avoided due to the sugar content; though, high-polyphenol chocolate may have a beneficial effect on hyperglycaemia and vascular function. The sugar-free chocolate from Ross Chocolates is formulated with a blend of inulin, erythritol, and stevia. These alternatives to sugar are not expected to cause a significant change in blood glucose levels following consumption. The main objective of this study is to verify glucose levels before and after consumption of Ross Chocolates' blend of sweeteners dark chocolate and conventional chocolate in people with diabetes.

Activation of Brown Adipose Tissue Metabolism Using Mirabegron

Could sympathomimetics and sympatholytics drugs safe for the management of Type 2 Diabetes (T2D)? Based on recent evidence, we propose that pharmacological stimulation of Beta-3 adrenergic receptor (ADBR3) at higher doses of Mirabegron may be required to elicit changes in glycemia, but should be combined with Beta-1 adrenergic receptor (ADRB1) antagonists to suppress the unwanted effects on the cardiovascular system. Together, several results establish a previously unappreciated cross-talk between Gs-coupled ADRB1 and ADRB3 in adipose tissue for the control of glucose homeostasis. Moreover, these data suggest that antagonizing ADRB1 may be a good way to significantly lower the dose of ADRB3 agonist required for glucose control. Therefore, we believe that there are therapeutic opportunities in targeting adrenergic receptors for the treatment of T2D at least in young/middle aged people.
