Effect of Aqueous Cinnamon Extract on the Postprandial Glycaemia Levels in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

The type 2 diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease and it is a highly prevalent globally. Cinnamon is a spicy used on the traditional cuisine, which have as been associated with beneficial effects on postprandial blood glucose levels (BGL). The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of cinnamon tea (6g C. burmannii/100mL) on postprandial glycaemia in type 2 diabetic adults. Following ethical committee approval, thirty-six subjects were selected and randomly allocated in 2 groups (n=18): cinnamon group, which was administrated OGTT (oral glucose tolerance test) followed by cinnamon tea; control group, which was administrated only OGTT. At baseline, anthropometric data, medical condition and pharmacological therapy were collected. A 24-hour dietary recall was taken preceding each intervention. Food Processor SQL (version 10.5.9) program was used to analyze the food nutritional composition. Chemical analysis was performed for total phenols determinations (adapted from Prabha et al) and antioxidant activity for FRAP and for DPPH tests (adapted from K. Thaipong et al.) Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS Statistics program. Data are mean±SEM.

A Research Study Looking at New Protein-based Tablets in Healthy Male Participants

In this study, four new tablet versions of two compounds will be investigated. The aim of this study is to investigate the amount of the active ingredient and helping agent in the blood after doses of four different tablet versions. The tablet versions, participants will receive, i.e. the treatment arm participants will be assigned to, is decided by chance. Participants will receive one treatment for 10 days in the first period. For the second period, directly following, participants will receive a different treatment for five more days. The study can last for up to approximately 10 weeks for each participant. This includes a screening period (up to 3 weeks), two treatment periods (together a total of 15 days) and a follow-up visit (5 weeks after the last dosing)

Dual-Task Effects on Hand Functions in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

The aim of the study is to examine the effect of dual-task performance on hand functions in individuals with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. It is planned to reach at least 100 participants during the data collection phase of the study. Demographic information, plasma glucose levels, and HbA1C levels of the participants included in the study will be recorded. The upper extremity problems of the participants will be recorded. Minnesota Manual Dexterity Test will be used to evaluate upper extremity functions.

Use of Continuous Glucose Monitors in Publicly-Insured Youth With Type 2 Diabetes - A Pilot and Feasibility Study

The purpose of this pilot feasibility study is to provide continued CGM access to youth with type 2 diabetes and collect descriptive data about feasibility of use of CGM in youth with type 2 diabetes ages 4 years and older. From this study the investigators hope to learn if CGM use in youth with type 2 diabetes can be tolerated and sustained with good adherence and to describe blood glucose patterns in youth with type 2 diabetes. The primary aim will be to evaluate the feasibility of CGM start and continuation in youth with T2D and describe glucose metrics and patient reported outcomes (PROs). The investigators will pilot and refine a program to test the hypothesis that CGM start and continuation in youth with T2D is feasible and then evaluate glucose metrics and PROs.
