Filter by:The goal of this clinical trial is to compare the effect of synbiotics and placebo in Thai women with polycystic ovary syndrome. The main questions it aims to answer are: - Do synbiotics have a positive effect on the gut microbiome? - Do synbiotics have a positive effect on reproductive outcomes? - Do synbiotics have a positive effect on cardiovascular outcomes? Participants will be randomized, and blinded to receive either synbiotics or placebo. While placebo is a comparison group: Researchers will compare with placebo to see if the effects on reproductive and cardiovascular risk differ.
The purpose of this study is to see if a randomized controlled trial of ovarian vein and pelvic vein embolization versus venography alone could determine outcomes for women with chronic pelvic pain and pelvic varicose veins. The data gathered will assist in addressing changes in quality of life in patients who have ovarian/pelvic vein embolization versus no embolization.
The aim of this study is to assess the effect of a physical exercise program via a mobile application on functional parameters in individuals with post-COVID-19 syndrome. This is a clinical trial involving 60 individuals with post-COVID syndrome who will be randomly assigned to either a control group (physical activity guideline) or an experimental group (app-based training).
Enrolling of 150 female patients of fertile age diagnosed with PCOS, insulin resistance, infertility, or mitochondrial disease, and the same number of age- and sex-matched controls are planned. During the research biomarkers already with mitochondrial dysfunction in the scientific literature and common mtDNA abnormalities (deletions, point mutations, copy number changes, etc.) are examined.
Adult IBS patients with symptoms refractory to standard medical treatment received nurse-administered, gut-directed hypnotherapy. The primary outcome measure was change in gastro-intestinal symptom severity.
The project focuses on "somatic functional syndrome", a category of disorders characterized by subjective symptoms, suffering and disability without evident organic or functional alterations. Syndromes such as Fibromyalgia, Irritable Bowel, Chronic Fatigue and Restless Legs fall into this category. Patients seek diagnoses and treatments, often consulting multiple doctors. The proposed alternative approach involves physical activity as the cornerstone of therapy, with a focus on fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia manifests itself with musculoskeletal pain, chronic fatigue, sleep disturbances and other symptoms. The text highlights a correlation between fibromyalgia and gastrointestinal disorders, in particular Irritable Bowel. Both syndromes share pathophysiological mechanisms, including alteration of intestinal permeability and psychosocial factors. An important note is the possible compromise of the integrity of the intestinal wall, with consequences on general health. Inflammation, dysbiosis, and altered intestinal permeability contribute to a vicious cycle that can lead to cardiovascular, neurodegenerative, and inflammatory diseases. Regular physical activity is a possible improvement for fibromyalgia symptoms, with scientific studies demonstrating its effectiveness. A sedentary lifestyle is linked to gastrointestinal problems, and physical exercise can promote gastrointestinal motility and counteract disorders such as gastric reflux and irritable bowel syndrome. The research aims to focus on the effects of physical activity on gastrointestinal and extra-gastrointestinal symptoms in patients with fibromyalgia and irritable bowel disease. The effects on intestinal integrity, dysbiosis and markers of inflammation are also examined. The research also aims to evaluate the psychological aspects of these syndromes.
Since the emergence ofCorona Virus Disease 2019(COVID-19), it has spread rapidly around the world, And it has had a profound impact on the lives and health of people around the world, most of the COVID-19 positive patients are 3-4 weeks after the onset of infection patients can turn negative and recover, however, increasing observational data suggest that these patients long-term or recurring symptoms such as: fatigue, palpitations, cognitive impairment, dyspnea, anxiety, chest tightness andPain, etc., symptoms may last at least two months or even longer (for example, up to 12 months), the patient's quality of life and The ability to work and social activities also decline accordingly. Therefore, in addition to the acute symptoms after infection, patients also face the same. The challenge of long-term health sequelae associated with COVID-19.
The study aimed to explore the impact of obesity on both body composition and ovarian Doppler parameters across various phenotypes of females diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). Additionally, the investigation seeked to establish correlations between these parameters and their prevalence concerning the clinical criteria of PCOS.
The excessive use of screens particularly amongst digital gamers can adversely impact the health of the surface of the eyes with symptoms and signs of surface damage. While strategies including limiting screen time exist, these may be ineffective given the widespread rise of digital device use and gaming culture in the modern era. There is limited evidence for the protective effect of lubricating eyedrops on the ocular surface for handheld console and computer gamers. The aim of this study is to investigate the protective effect of a lubricating eyedrop (TheaLoz Duo) on the surface of the eyes in handheld console and computer gamers. The main question it aims to answer is whether TheaLoz Duo could protect the surface of the eyes from dessication and alleviate symptoms of dry eye disease in handheld console and computer gamers. Participants will receive either the lubricating eyedrop first for 1 month, followed by control saline eyedrop solution for another month, or the other way round. Participants will attend 3 visits in total, each separated by 1 month apart. During each visit, routine clinical assessments of the front of the eye will be conducted. Subsequent findings from this timely study will help improve care of the surface of the eyes for a growing population of gamers worldwide.
ICED is a prospective sample collection research study, aiming to develop or validate a blood/urine biomarker which could potentially detect cancers early in individuals at high risk of developing cancers, due to certain germline alterations.
