Filter by:With the development of economics in China, the dietary diversity got higher. Meanwhile, the prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MetS) raised up as well. To investigate the gender difference of getting MetS and its various associations with dietary diversity at different ages.Data of adults(n=4308) aged 18+ y with three consecutive 24-h recalls and complete co-variates information were extracted from Chinese Nutrition and Health Survey in 2009. Modified Dietary Diversity Score (DDS) was adopted to capture the diversity of diet. MetS was defined by the harmonized criteria. Multivariable adjusted logistic regression was carried out to detect the association between DDS and MetS and its components for young, middle aged and elderly adults by a cross-sectional study. More detailed information can be found in Pubmed,PMID: 24341753 (The China Health and Nutrition Survey, 1989-2011.).
In 1935 the polycystic ovary syndrome was a clinical diagnosis made on the morphological appearance of the ovaries in association with amenorrhoea, hirsutism and frequently obesity. At that time wedge resection of the ovaries was introduced on an empirical basis and proved a successful treatment for the associated anovulation and infertility. In the ensuing fifty years the limitations of a purely surgical approach to therapy have become recognized and the importance of the biochemical abnormalities appreciated. Prevalence of polycystic Ovary Syndrome: The prevalence of polycystic ovary syndrome in any specified population is dependent upon the diagnostic criteria used, but does have some regional and ethnic variation. While most reports on the prevalence of polycystic ovary syndrome range between 2 and 20%, the chosen diagnostic criteria are recognized to influence the determined prevalence. Anti-mullerian hormone which is a predictor of ovarian reserve is known to decrease after laparoscopic ovarian drilling. On the best of our knowledge no study had been done to use the level of anti-mullerian hormone as a factor for planning the number of ovarian drills in each ovary.
Marfan syndrome (MFS) is a rare genetic disease (1/5000) characterized by the association of ocular impairment, cardiovascular disease and musculoskeletal disease. In some chronic conditions, physical activity and training have been shown to be effective in improving muscle strength and functional abilities but also fatigue and quality of life. We hypothesize that the implementation of a personalized exercise rehabilitation program (Personalized Training Program) in children and young adults with MFS, by improving muscle mass, physical endurance, muscle strength, bone mass and quality of life of these patients. In order to test this hypothesis, investigators wish to carry out an interventional, prospective, monocentric study for the first time in children and young adults (<25 years old) presenting an MFS.
The aim of the investigators 'study is to investigate the relationship between the biomarkers (e.g. protein markers, genetic polymorphisms and epigenetic markers) and the onset of ARDS. In this study, the participants were divided into case group (with ARDS) and control group (without ARDS), based on a nested case-control study method. During the diagnosis and treatment, the clinical data of subjects are collected at the given time point. And the clinical data are extracted from plasma, blood and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid of participants. These data will be analyzed based on statistical methods. In the end ,the investigators can build a multi index early warning model based on the biomarkers, which is meaningful for the early diagnosis of the patient with high-risk for ARDS and provide evidence for the early treatment.
The present study will mainly aim at investigating the safety, tolerability and efficacy of different escalating single doses administration of nebulised Curosurf®, in preterm neonates with RDS (Respiratory Distress Syndrome) during nCPAP.
The investigators compared advantages and disadvantages of two forms of noninvasive respiratory support -bi-level positive airway pressure(BiPAP) or nasal continuous positive airway pressure (nCPAP) -as a primary mode of ventilation in preterm twins infants with respiratory distress syndrome
Childhood nephrotic syndrome is the most frequent glomerular disease that presents during childhood, primarily owing to a disturbed immune function. This disease is characterized by alterations in selectivity at the glomerular capillary wall that lead to an inability to restrict the urinary loss of protein.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness (how well a drug works) of Carbidopa/levodopa (Sinemet) in individuals with Angelman syndrome. Sinemet is a medication that helps to raise dopamine levels (a chemical that signals nerve cells) in the brain and central nervous system. There is evidence that dopamine concentrations may be abnormal in patients with Angelman syndrome. This study is investigating whether Sinemet helps motor control, intellectual function and the achievement of developmental milestones in people with Angelman syndrome
It is a multi-center randomized clinical trial (RCT) which will enroll 3746 patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) concomitant non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF) and undergoing new generation drug eluting stent (DES) implantation at 70 centers nationwide in China and contains two sub-studies. In the OPTIMA-3 sub-study, 2274 subjects who choose warfarin as anticoagulant will randomly receive triple antithrombotic therapy (warfarin with targeted INR 2.0-3.0, clopidogrel 75 mg od and aspirin 100 mg od) for 1 month or 6 months in a 1:1 ratio then quit aspirin till 12 months after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). The primary endpoint of the OPTIMA-3 is a composite of cardiovascular death, myocardial infarction, ischemic stroke, systemic thromboembolism and unplanned revascularization up to 12 months; the major secondary endpoint is the International Society of Thrombosis and Hemostasis (ISTH) major bleeding or clinically relevant non-major bleeding (CRNMB). In the OPTIMA-4 sub-study, 1472 subjects who prefer dabigatran will be randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to a dual antithrombotic therapy of dabigatran 110 mg twice daily with ticagrelor 90 mg twice daily or with clopidogrel 75 mg od for 12 months after PCI. The primary safety endpoint of the OPTIMA-4 is ISTH major bleeding or CRNMB at 12 months; the primary efficacy endpoint is a composite of cardiovascular death, myocardial infarction, ischemic stroke, systemic thromboembolism and unplanned revascularization. Other secondary endpoints comprise death (cardiovascular, non- cardiovascular), MI (fatal or non-fatal, Q-wave or non-Q-wave), unplanned revascularization (target or non-target vessel, target or non-target lesion), stent thrombosis (possible, probable, definite), stroke (hemorrhage or ischemic), all bleeding (ISTH and BARC criteria) and net adverse events. All endpoints will be collected and compared between subgroups and sub-studies during hospitalization and in 1 month (± 7 days), 6 months (± 7 days) and 12 months (± 7 days) for office visits and in 2 weeks (± 7 days), 2 months (± 7 days) and 3 months (± 7 days) for phone call visits.
Central nervous system (CNS) changes associated with pain have been difficult to measure until the development of functional neuroimaging techniques such as positron emission tomography (PET). We have previously observed asymmetry in the thalamus associated with chronic pain that altered during acupuncture therapy. Imaging studies of therapeutic techniques for chronic pain in animals and humans have been quite limited. This study will be the first to utilize FDG PET-MRI imaging of both the brain and body in order to assess CNS changes and peripheral body changes related to chronic pain and its potential management.
