A Study to Learn More About the Health of Persons With Down Syndrome After Treatment for Acute Leukemia

This study attempts to learn more about the health of persons with Down syndrome after treatment for acute leukemia. Children with Down syndrome are at increased risk for side effects during treatment for acute leukemia, but it is unclear of their risk for long-term effects of cancer treatment. By learning more about the factors that may contribute to chronic health conditions and long-term effects after treatment for leukemia in persons with Down syndrome, clinical practice guidelines for survivorship care can be developed to help improve their quality-of-life.

Effect of MetS* on Cognitive Performance and Physical Activity (Metabolic Syndrome)

Metabolic syndrome (MetS) increases the risk of developing diabetes and cardiovascular disease risk factors that are linked with each other, which is a metabolic dysfunction, which contains a combination of multiple. It is known that METS plays a role in the development of many diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, stroke, cancer, Alzheimer's. Studies have revealed that neuroinflammation, oxidative stress, abnormal lipid metabolism and impaired vascularization, which play a role in the pathogenesis of MetS, affect the structure of the brain and cognition. Atherosclerosis of the carotid artery, increased brain atrophy and white matter damage are potential explanatory mechanisms that lead to an impact on cognitive skills in patients with MetS. In addition, the existence of MetS components such as obesity, diabetes, hypertension alone also negatively affects cognitive functions, and the level of cognitive influence also increases as the number of components an individual has increases. The literature reports that learning, executive functions, processing speed, attention/working memory and global cognitive functions are affected in individuals with MetS, but no consensus has been reached on this issue. Some studies say that MetS causes a significant decrease in cognitive functions, while some studies indicate that this difference is not significant. The aim of our study is to proof the relationship between MetS and cognitive functions with metabolic syndrome components. H1:There is a relationship between the MetS and cognitive functions.

Evaluating Efgartigimod in Patients With Guillain-Barré Syndrome

The goal of this clinical trial is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of Efgartigimod in patients with Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS). The main questions it aims to answer are: - Is Efgartigimod a safe treatment option for GBS patients? - Does treatment with Efgartigimod improve patient outcomes? In addition to standard-of-care procedures and assessments, participants will: - Undergo seven blood draws during hospitalization and in four follow-up study visits to evaluate the concentration of neurofilament light chain, a protein that is elevated in patients with Guillain-Barré syndrome. The presence of neurofilament light chain is believed to be indicative of damage to the nervous system, with higher levels resulting from greater damage. - Complete the Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS) to monitor any suicidal ideation or behaviors during the course of the study.

This study will investigate how well OC-01 (varenicline) nasal spray can treat the signs and symptoms of dry eye disease in those Sjogren's Syndrome. Patients at least 18 years old with moderate-to-severe Sjogren's dry eye disease may be eligible for this study. If you are eligible to participate in the study and you decide to join, there will be 3 study visits over approximately 1 month. You will also self-administer the nasal spray at home every day, 2 times a day during this month.

Transcriptomic Study of Adult Population With Marfan Syndrome

This project is designed to discover circulating biomarkers for aortic aneurysms in adults affected by Marfan Syndrome (MFS). The first aim is to identify circulating transcripts, protein-coding (mRNA) and not (ncRNAs), which show differential expression between three groups of adult patients affected by MFS, based on: presence or absence of thoracic aortic aneurysms (TAA) and indication of TAA-surgery. This obtained TAA_MFS_signature will then be correlated to fundamental biological parameters, like cytokines and chemokines relevant during inflammation and transcriptomic as well as epigenetics changes in aortic aneurysm tissue. Furthermore, the association of TAA_MFS_signature to genetic, clinical and instrumental parameters at present used for diagnosis and treatment, will be evaluated.

The Aim of This Study is to Compare the Effects of Instrument-assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) and Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT) Used in Myofascial Pain Syndrome (MPS) and to Determine Whether They Are Superior to Conservative Treatment (CT). 42 Female Patients Diagnosed With MPS Were Included in the Study. The Patients Were Randomly Divided Into Three Groups of 14 People Each. CT (Hot Pack, TENS, Ultrasound) Was Applied to the First Group. CT+IASTM Was Applied to the Second Group and CT+ESWT Was Applied to the Third Group. All Groups Received Treatment for 3 Weeks (CT: 5 Sessions Per Week, 15 Sessions in Total, ESWT and IASTM: 2 Sessions Per Week, 6 Sessions in Total). Neck Stretching Exercises Were Given to All Patients as a Home Program. Before and After the Treatment, the Pain Intensity of the Patients Was Determined by Visual Analog Scale (VAS). Pressure Pain Threshold Was Measured With an Algometer. Cervical Joint Range of Motion (CROM) Was Measured With a CROM Device. Pain, Cervical Mobility, Quality of Life, and Sleep Parameters Were Evaluated With the Neck Outcome Score Questionnaire (NOOS). Depression and Anxiety Parameters Were Evaluated With the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS).
