Research on the Effect of Drama Workshop on Stress Management of Nursing Students Based on Social Interaction Theory

Background: Nursing interns are the backup force for the development of the nursing career and the main force of the future nursing team. Different pressures will arise due to changes in the environment, schedule and interpersonal relationships. Stress will negatively affect nursing students, leading to anxiety, depression and even despair, which will accelerate the brain drain and shortage in the nursing industry, and is extremely detrimental to the healthy development of the nursing workforce. Objective: To explore the effect of creative drama workshop on the stress level and stress coping behavior of nursing students. Methods: The intern nursing students who met the standards were randomly divided into an intervention group and a control group. Both groups received routine nursing training, and the intervention group participated in creative drama workshops on this basis. The stress levels and stress coping styles of the two groups of nursing students were evaluated before and after the intervention and once a month during the intervention using the Nursing Student Stressor Scale and the Simple Coping Style Scale.

The Influence of Fluid Intake on Daily Biological Rhythm and Mental Performance in Healthy Young Adults

Chronic low water intake may raise the risk of morbidity and mortality by influencing key water regulating hormones (e.g., AVP), which are known to modulate glucoregulation and renal function. For example, AVP stimulates the HPA axis to release the glucocorticoid stress hormone cortisol with potentially far-reaching effects on metabolism, immunity and inflammation. One study observed elevated blood cortisol in a group of low water drinkers, albeit cortisol was measured at one time of day only. However, in the field of psychobiology, researchers have traditionally related more dynamic assessments of cortisol with health outcomes; by evoking cortisol responses to acute standardised laboratory stressors, such as The Trier social stress test. More recently, researchers have appreciated the importance of circadian variability in cortisol levels, by examining influences on, and consequences of individual differences in the diurnal variation of cortisol. The major measurable parameters of the diurnal variation are; the cortisol awakening response (CAR), which is the rise in cortisol during the first 30-45 minutes following awakening, and the diurnal cortisol slope, which is the rate of decline in cortisol levels across the day, from morning to evening. These parameters are considered to reflect different aspects of HPA axis function; with the CAR best reflecting the adrenal capacity to respond to stress and awakening and diurnal slope more indicative of daily cortisol exposure. Although distinct, both blunted CAR and a flattened diurnal cortisol slope appear to be consistent markers of HPA axis dysfunction and related to a variety of poor health outcomes. Therefore, it has been recommended that contemporary research should simultaneously estimate an individual's awakening cortisol responsiveness, and diurnal slope, thereby capturing distinct and important components of HPA axis function. The shared pathways that regulate body water, diurnal variation in cortisol and our response to stress underpin the broad aim of this research programme: to investigate the influence of low and high fluid intake on diurnal cortisol variation and the cortisol response to acute stress. The aims of this study are to investigate: 1. The influence of a change in water intake behaviour on diurnal saliva cortisol variation as assessed by the CAR (primary outcome) 2. The influence of a change in water intake behaviour on biomarkers of hydration and thirst as assessed by urine osmolality, urine colour and thirst sensation. 3. The influence of habitual low and high total fluid intake on saliva cortisol response to an acute psychological stress (secondary outcome) 4. Investigate the influence of a change in water intake behaviour on plasma biomarkers of hydration as assessed by plasma osmolality and plasma copeptin (exploratory outcome)

Effects of GPR on Stress and Sleep Quality in Health Sciences

Stress is a physiological reaction of our organism to situations that are perceived as threats. Of the different types of stress, emotional stress understood as a feeling of tension in difficult and unmanageable situations is increasingly prevalent in the western population and is responsible for a multitude of physical and psychological health disorders. In the same vein, sleep is a process experienced with a circadian (daily) periodicity in which there is a direct detachment from the environment and is necessary to maintain physiological, psychological and/or behavioral activities correctly. Both teachers and students in higher education are examples of populations in which emotional stress and problems related to sleep quality have been described, with women being more sensitive to these problems. The beneficial effects of physical exercise on different cognitive variables have been described, and it has been possible to characterise these effects on the physiological triggers of stress and sleep and, therefore, on alterations in the nervous and hormonal systems. Along these lines, Global Postural Re-education (GPR) is a physical therapy designed to re-establish the coordination of muscle chains and relieve pain. It has been established that GPR is a therapy in which the active participation of the patient is necessary so that it can be framed as physical exercise, with a structured execution protocol. The overall aim of this study is to test whether a self-treatment therapy with RPG, after a learning and familiarisation phase, performed for 8 weeks, can have positive effects on stress reduction and improvement of sleep quality in female teachers and students of health sciences.

The participants including the patients diagnosed with advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) who received the first-line therapy or neoadjuvant therapy of ICIs; patients diagnosed with advanced small-cell lung cancer (SCLC) receiving the first-line therapy ICIs; patients diagnosed with early small-cell lung cancer (SCLC) receiving surgery.

Improving Wellbeing of SHP Personnel at UAB

The main objective of this study is to evaluate the impact of a well-being program, SKY Campus Happiness, on well-being of students, faculties, and staff working/studying at School of Health Professional (SHP). SHP is leaning on the SKY Campus Happiness (SKY) program which is an integrative workshop format that includes both skill-building and group dynamics and may be critical for the effectiveness of the program. SKY is a university leadership and well-being program (campushappiness.org) that includes stress-management and tools for psychological resilience: yoga postures, breathing exercises, a breath-based meditation technique [Sudarshan Kriya Yoga]. SKY also includes positive psychology skills (e.g., gratitude, social connection, acts of kindness, meaning and purpose). In addition, the curriculum includes discussion and application of leadership skills and service learning. Relying on existing evidence of previous studies, we hypothesize that participating in this program will increase the well-being of people involved.
