Immunogenicity, Safety, and Tolerability of a Plant-Derived Quadrivalent VLP Influenza Vaccine in Elderly Adults

This Phase 2 Quadrivalent VLP Vaccine study is intended to replicate and extend the immunogenicity and safety results obtained in earlier Phase 1-2 and Phase 2 studies. The study is being conducted to evaluate that the immunogenicity profile of the Quadrivalent VLP Vaccine meets the US Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER) licensure criteria and to evaluate if the immunogenicity and the safety profile of the Quadrivalent VLP Vaccine is acceptable and comparable to that of the FluLaval® Tetra and Fluzone® High-Dose (HD). The study will also help to define the optimal dose in this population, establish potential competitive advantages, and support the design of future studies.

The Predictive Value of Amniotic Fluid pH and Electrolytes on Neonatal Respiratory Disorders

Amniotic fluid (AF) is a complex structure with a changing content by gestational time. AF pH can be affected by both maternal and fetal conditions such as preterm ruptures of membranes, prematurity and fetal distress. While fetal urine is the major content of AF since 20th gestational week, fetal lung liquid (FLL) also acts as a minor content. Secretion of FLL depends on chloride transport and postnatal clearance of FLL is provided by active reabsorption of sodium (Na) ions. Down-regulation of epithelial Na channels (ENaCs) and an increase of pulmonary compliance accompany to pulmonary adaptation developing at the first hours of life. Lower genomic expression of Na channels in airways is shown to be associated to respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) in preterm. Although pH and electrolyte value of AF is thought to be relevant to fetal and maternal conditions such as gestational age, antenatal steroids and preterm birth, there is no study about this topic in the literature.

Nasal, tracheal and bronchial sampling of MLF in patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis(IPF), sarcoidosis, tuberculosis(TB), asthma and COPD. Similar sampling from healthy controls for comparative data. Aim: To characterise the molecular basis of the upper and lower airway mucosa inflammatory response in different respiratory diseases. To assess molecular biomarkers and signatures to see if these can aid diagnosis, stratification of these respiratory diseases. To direct personalised medicine and rationalise therapy. Outcome measures:Measurement of levels of inflammation, coagulation, complement activation and fibrosis in MLF, transcriptomics from nasal curettage and airway brushings and to assess the tolerability of absorption procedures in these patients.

A Study of Oral Hymecromone and Hyaluronan Synthesis

The purpose of this study is to add further understanding to the doses of hymecromone that effectively and safely lead to the inhibition of hyaluronan synthesis. In this study we will investigate both circulating hyaluronan in the serum, as well as tissue hyaluronan, using sputum samples as a non-invasive surrogate. This is a parallel, open-label, single-center, dose-response study of hymecromone in healthy adults 18 years of age or older. Up to 18 participants will be enrolled. Participants will be treated for 4 days with study drug. Safety as well as biomarkers of pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic response will be monitored during therapy.

Respiratory Disorder During Sleep in the Pregnancy : A Risk Factor in Gestational Diabetese

Introduction: The pregnancy brings about physiological and hormonal modifications which cause sleep disorder. The sleeplessness, snoring and a bad sleepquality are frequent during the pregnancy. Also a limited breathing airflow happens very often during the pregnancy. The limited airflow causes micro-awakenings that enter in the frame of the high resistances airways syndrome. To our knowledge there is no study about the outcome of micro-awakenings at pregnant women. Objectives: To compare the prevalence of the high resistances airways syndrome (RERA) in pregnant woman with or without gestational diabetes Methods : It is a monocentrical prospective study at pregnant women after the 30th amenorrhea week who consul the gynecologie and obstetrics department of the CHU NORD in Marseille. We are going to compare the breathing disorder during sleep of a control group with a group of women with gestational diabetes. A polysomnograph will be run at the included patients' home. Expected results : The physiological and hormonal modifications during the pregnancy could favor nocturnal sleep events (snoring, SAHOS and RERA) and its complications as gravidic HPN And gestational diabetes cause maternal and fœtal and morbidity and mortality. We put the hypothesis that limited airflow in association with micro-awakenings in the RERA have a negative impact on the glucose metabolism and favor the gestational diabetes.
