An open-label, single-dose study to evaluate the safety and pharmacokinetics of DIC075V in subjects with mild or moderate chronic renal insufficiency and in patients with mild chronic hepatic impairment compared. Additionally, the healthy adult volunteers will participate in a randomized, open-label, crossover study in which they will receive Sporanox® to compare the safety and pharmacokinetics of HPβCD when administered in DIC075V compared to Sporanox®.

Saving Residual Renal Function Among Haemodialysis Patients Receiving Irbesartan

Angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARB) are known to preserve kidney function among patients with kidney diseases and reduced renal function, but not among haemodialysis patients. Haemodialysis patients often lose residual renal function after initiating dialysis leading to worsened quality of life, increased morbidity and mortality. In this study an ARB is investigated in a double blind, randomised, parallel group, placebo controlled manner to see, if this ARB can save residual renal function among haemodialysis patients. Potential cardiovascular benefits of the treatment are also addressed.

A Study of the Pharmacokinetics of ER OROS Paliperidone in Volunteers With Normal or Impaired Renal Function

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the pharmacokinetics of a single oral dose of 3 mg extended release paliperidone (ER OROSÃ' paliperidone) in patients with varying degrees of renal impairment (mild, moderate, and severe), compared to patients with normal renal function. Secondary objectives include the assessing the disposition of the (+) and (-) enantiomers by means of an enantioselective liquid chromatography mass spectrometry assay, to determine plasma protein binding of the enantiomers in patients with impaired renal function, compared with patients with normal renal function, and to evaluate the tolerability and safety profile of ER OROS paliperidone in patients with varying degrees of renal impairment (mild, moderate, and severe) compared with patients with normal renal function.

Hypothesis: In patients that present to an urban emergency room, a single urine neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) measurement can classify their kidney disease as stable chronic kidney disease, acute tubular necrosis, urinary outlet obstruction or pre-renal azotemia.
