View clinical trials related to Renal Insufficiency.
Filter by:The investigators did a randomized control trial comparing bovine carotid artery grafts with ePTFE grafts for patients that need hemodialysis access. The goal of the study was to determine differences in primary and assisted patency rates and frequency of complications between these two types of grafts. The investigators' hypothesis was that bovine carotid artery grafts more closely mimic autologous tissue and therefore, would provide better patency and fewer complications.
This is a multi-center, open-labeled, non-comparative study to examine the safety and efficacy of ASP1585 in chronic kidney disease and hyperphosphatemia patients on peritoneal dialysis.
The pharmacokinetics of sodium thiosulfate in humans with different degrees of renal failure and in healthy volunteers will be after two single shot applications.
This trial was conducted in Europe. The aim of this clinical trial was to evaluate if the NN1250 (insulin degludec/insulin 454) concentration-time curve is altered to such an extent that the dose should be adjusted in subjects with impaired renal function compared to the dose for subjects with normal renal function.
Dialysis patients have their blood filtered by a machine as their kidneys no longer work. To get blood in and out of these patients it is possible to perform a surgical procedure to increase to size and durability of a vein in the arm to allow repeated needle insertion. This enlarged vein is called a fistula. There is some evidence that ultrasound scanning the blood vessels in the arm before surgery can improve the chances of a successful procedure. The investigators aim to test whether scanning all patients is better than scanning only those who are difficult to assess by physical examination alone.
Introduction: Narrowing of the draining vein occurs in >50% of hemodialysis fistula and left untreated will lead to loss of access. The narrowing is due to excessive growth of tissue in the vessel wall (intimal hyperplasia). The standard treatment is balloon dilatation. However, narrowing will inevitably recur in 2-3 months hence requiring further dilatation. Intimal hyperplasia also occurs in the heart and leg circulation. The drug paclitaxel has been used with great success in preventing intimal hyperplasia in these vessels following balloon dilatation. Administer locally, paclitaxel inhibits excess tissue growth in the vessel wall. The investigators believe that this drug will have similar effect in hemodialysis access.. Objective: To assess the effect of paclitaxel in hemodialysis access with narrowing. Paclitaxel is delivered by a paclitaxel-coated balloon. This balloon dilates the narrow segment and simultaneously delivers paclitaxel to the vessel wall. Methodology: Patients with narrowed hemodialysis access are dilated with the paclitaxel-coated balloon or conventional balloon in randomized manner. The patency of the two groups are evaluated and compared at 6 months follow-up. Potential benefit: Decrease number of balloon dilatations and hence hospital admissions, improve dialysis fistula function, and decrease overall economic cost.
The purpose of the study is to compare the pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and tolerability of betrixaban in patients with mild, moderate, and severe renal impairment to healthy volunteers.
The goal of this study is to evaluate the effect of N-acetyl-cysteine (NAC) administration in organ donors on the kidney graft function of recipients.
Some patients who need kidney transplants have high levels of antibodies that make them incompatible with most potential deceased donor kidney offers. These patients are considered highly-sensitized and are very difficult to transplant because the likelihood that they will receive a compatible organ is very low. There are some medications and procedures that can decrease the antibody levels and this can increase the chance of finding a compatible donor for these patients. In this study the investigators will give two medications (IVIg and Rituximab) to highly-sensitized patients who are on the waiting list for a deceased donor kidney transplant. After the investigators administer these medications, the investigators will continue to check for compatibility as organ offers are received. If a compatible organ offer is received, the investigators will perform the transplant using that organ. The investigators hypothesize that these medications will lower antibody levels and increase the chance that a these patients are able to receive a compatible kidney transplant.
The purpose of this study is to determine whether fenoldopam infusion during cardiopulmonary bypass in young children with congenital heart disease is able to reduce indicators of acute kidney injury (biomarkers reduction, diuresis increase) compared to a control group.
