NCT ID: NCT03259087 Completed - Renal Impairment Clinical Trials

Pharmacokinetics (PK) and Safety of a Single Intravenous (IV) Dose of MK-3866 in Participants With Impaired Renal Function and in Healthy Controls (MK-3866-005)

Start date: September 1, 2017
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to compare plasma and urine PK parameters of MK-3866 between participants with impaired renal function and healthy control participants, to investigate the extent to which MK-3866 is removed from the plasma by hemodialysis (HD), and evaluate the safety and tolerability of MK-3866 in participants with impaired renal function.

Assess the Safety and Efficacy of Nephoxil® in Subjects With End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) on Dialysis

Start date: April 12, 2017
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

To assess the long-term safety and effectiveness of Nephoxil® for the treatment of hyperphosphatemia in patients with ESRD undergoing dialysis.

NCT ID: NCT03253172 Recruiting - Hypertension Clinical Trials

Potassium Supplementation in CKD

K+ in CKD
Start date: July 1, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The current high-sodium, low-potassium diet contributes to the high prevalence of high blood pressure (hypertension). Indeed, the anti-hypertensive effects of potassium supplementation are well-established. Hypertension is even more prevalent and resistant in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and contributes to further decline in kidney function. Four recent epidemiological studies (published 2014 - 2016) showed that higher dietary potassium intake was associated with better renal outcomes. All studies recommended an intervention study with potassium supplementation in patients with CKD, but this has not been performed. The aim of this study is to study the renoprotective effect of potassium supplementation in patients with CKD (stage 3b or 4, i.e. estimated glomerular filtration rate [eGFR] 15 - 45 ml/min/1.73 m2).

NCT ID: NCT03250715 Completed - Clinical trials for Renal Insufficiency, Chronic

Effects of Low Level Laser Therapy on Functional Capacity and DNA Damage of Patients With Chronic Kidney Failure

Start date: September 1, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study aims to verify the effects of low level laser therapy (LLLT) on functional capacity, DNA damage, lower limbs muscle strength, quadriceps muscle architecture, muscle pain and perception of lower limb fatigue, inflammatory profile, oxidative stress and quality of life of patients with chronic kidney failure on hemodialysis. Patients will be randomized into two groups: the control group and the LLLT group. The control group will only be evaluated and reassessed. The LLLT group in addition to the evaluations will receive LLLT three times a week for eight weeks during HD. The evaluations will be performed pre-intervention, after 4 and 8 weeks of therapy. However, the muscle architecture evaluation will be performed only at pre intervention and after 8 weeks. The evaluations carried out are: six-minute walk test for functional capacity; alkaline comet assay for DNA damage; sit-and-lift test, and load cell dynamometry for evaluation of lower limbs muscle strength; quadriceps ultrasonography for muscle architecture and echogenicity; visual analogue scale for pain; subjective perception of effort by Borg scale for fatigue; measurement of interleukins 6 and 10, tumor necrosis factor, reative C protein and muscle damage markers (lactate, creatine kinase) for the inflammatory profile; protein carbonylation, superoxide dismutase, catalase, total sulfuric acid and dichlorofluorescein diacetate for oxidative stress and application of the Kidney Disease and Quality-of-Life-Short-Form and EQ-5D questionnaires for quality of life.

NCT ID: NCT03246984 Completed - Kidney Diseases Clinical Trials

VALUE- Vascular Access Laminate eUropean Experience. A Post Market Surveillance Study to Assess the Safety and Effectiveness of VasQ

VALUE
Start date: September 7, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This is a prospective single arm study enrolling patients who are scheduled for creation of a new Brachiocephalic or Radiocephalic AV fistula. Up to 80 patients will be enrolled, 50 with upper arm AV fistula and 30 with forearm AV fistula. All patients will be implanted with the VasQ device, a subcutaneous arteriovenous conduit support for vascular access. The follow up period in this study will be for a duration of 12 months, with follow up visits scheduled at 1, 3, 6, 9, and 12 months.

NCT ID: NCT03243864 Recruiting - Critical Illness Clinical Trials

Study of Ceftazidime-Avibactam Blood Concentrations in Intensive Care Unit Patients With Renal Failure Requiring Continuous Dialysis

Start date: March 13, 2017
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The study's primary objective is to determine plasma and dialysis fluid concentrations in patients prescribed ceftazidime-avibactam as the standard treatment for their infection and requiring continuous venovenous hemodiafiltration (CVVHDF) as part of the standard treatment for acute or chronic renal failure. Secondarily, the study will evaluate the pharmacokinetics of ceftazidime-avibactam in these patients on CVVHDF. The study will also determine if the prescribed dose meets pharmacodynamic targets.

NCT ID: NCT03242343 Completed - Diabetes Mellitus Clinical Trials

VasQ External Support for Arteriovenous Fistula

Start date: November 29, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This is a prospective clinical study of the VasQ external support for arteriovenous fistulas. The device is designed to improve fistula outcomes by optimizing the geometrical configuration of the fistula, influencing hemodynamics, minimizing turbulence and promote laminar flow. All patients will be implanted with the VasQ device and will be followed up for a duration of 24 months.
