NCT ID: NCT03998917 Withdrawn - Fatigue Clinical Trials

Pathophysiological Characterization of the Neuromuscular Function of a Population With Multiple Comorbidities Suffering From Chronic Renal Failure in Pre-dialysis.

PIONNIER
Start date: September 1, 2019
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The evolution of chronic kidney disease (CKD) causes a systemic upheaval on the body and a deep fatigue is very often described by patients (50-70% of the patients) even before the start of dialysis (pre-dialysis). This fatigue has many origins, and one of them probably stems from a deterioration of neuromuscular abilities. Very few studies have examined the physiological aspects of neuromuscular fatigue in pre-dialysis patients, and shedding light on potential deficits at this level would allow safe and efficient implementation of adapted physical activity programs. Our study aims to characterize the pathophysiology of neuromuscular capabilities in chronic advanced renal failure in pre-dialysis patients.

NCT ID: NCT03991169 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Chronic Kidney Diseases

Oral Iron in Children With Chronic Kidney Disease

FeTCh-CKD
Start date: April 19, 2019
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

This is a pilot clinical trial of oral iron therapy in children with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and mild anemia. Eligible children will be randomized into a standard of care (iron sulfate) arm vs. no iron therapy arm for 3 months. The outcomes will include muscle strength, physical activity, and changes in eating behavior, which will be measured at enrollment and at the end of the study period.

NCT ID: NCT03988270 Completed - Kidney Failure Clinical Trials

Prefistula Forearm Exercise in Pts Requiring Chronic HD Therapy

Start date: June 17, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

For chronic hemodialysis patients, the creation of a well-functioning arteriovenous (AV) fistula is critical for ensuring that patient receive adequate hemodialysis. Unfortunately, the primary failure rate for AV fistulas after surgery is about 40%, and this percentage has not changed despite a number of trials of pharmaceutical agents and biologic agents. A key to success in the development of a useable AV fistula is an adequate arterial and venous diameter in the access forearm. Although exercise is commonly used to increase vessel diameter after AV fistula placement, Investigators are unaware of published studies that report on the effect of exercise prior to AV fistula placement to assist with the maturation of a newly created AV fistula. In this pilot trial, the Principal Investigator will evaluate the feasibility and possible benefits of pre-surgical exercise on forearm AV fistulas.

NCT ID: NCT03982966 Completed - Clinical trials for Chronic Renal Failure

Effect of Omega 3 Fatty Acids on the Vascular Calcification Biomarkers Fetuin A and Osteoprotegerin in Patients With CRF

CRF
Start date: January 1, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

study the effect of omega 3fatty acids on the vascular calcification biomarkers Fetuin -A and Osteoprotegerin (OPG) in dialysis patients.

NCT ID: NCT03980795 Completed - Clinical trials for Kidney Failure, Chronic

Exercise in Peritoneal Dialysis Patients (PDEX)

PDEX
Start date: October 1, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Patients with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) receiving peritoneal dialysis (PD) are physically inactive, resulting in poor physical function and reduced quality of life. The aim of this pilot trial was to test the study feasibility of a combined resistance and cardiovascular exercise program (recruitment and retention rates) and report adherence and adverse events. The intervention (I) group received monthly exercise physiologist consultations, exercise prescription (resistance and aerobic exercise program using exercise bands) and weekly phone calls over 12 weeks. Control (C) group received normal care. Feasibility outcomes were exercise adherence rates and adverse events. Secondary measures included physical function measures and patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs)

NCT ID: NCT03976440 Active, not recruiting - Acute Renal Failure Clinical Trials

Simplified Regional Citrate Anticoagulation Protocols for CVVH, CVVHDF and SLED: a Pilot Study

Start date: June 1, 2019
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The aim of the study are: 1) To evaluate the occurrence of acid-base alterations and the incidence of hypophosphatemia during different modalities of Renal Replacement Terapy (RRT) in critically ill patients [CVVH, CVVHDF and SLED (Sustained Low-Efficiency Dialysis)] by using a simplified Regional Citrate Anticoagulation (RCA) protocol combined with the adoption of a phosphate-containing solution as dialysate and/or replacement fluid; 2) To optimize the infusion rates of different solutions adopted, including citrate, in order to obtain an appropriate electrolyte and buffer supply. The final aim of this approach will be to reduce the need for frequent monitoring of acid-base status and electrolytes (with special regard to ionized calcium levels), and to avoid the need for frequent adjustments of RCA-RRT parameters (infusion rate of different solutions, electrolytes supplementation in the course of RRT). This approach could allow to simplify anticoagulation protocols with citrate, in order to minimize potential concerns hampering a wider diffusion of RCA in daily practice.

NCT ID: NCT03974646 Completed - Renal Insufficiency Clinical Trials

Effectiveness of Chronic Kidney Disease Nurse-led Self-management Program (CKD-NLSM)

CKD-NLSM
Start date: June 1, 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study aims to develop, implement and evaluate the effectiveness of a theory-driven nurse-led self-management intervention program compared to standard usual care in people with CKD stages 3-4 on CKD knowledge, self-management behavior, self-efficacy and HRQoL using valid and reliable instruments in Malaysia.

NCT ID: NCT03969953 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Cardiovascular Disease

Treatment of Cardiovascular Disease With Low Dose Rivaroxaban in Advanced Chronic Kidney Disease

TRACK
Start date: December 14, 2020
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The TRACK trial is an investigator-initiated, multicentre, prospective, randomised, quadruple-blind (participant, healthcare provider, data collector, outcomes assessor), placebo-controlled trial. TRACK is a global trial and will be conducted in renal units that provide comprehensive CKD care. Approximately 2000 participants will be recruited. The TRACK trial will assess a strategy of administering low dose rivaroxaban to reduce the risk of major adverse cardiac event (MACE) in people with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) stages 4 or 5 or dialysis-dependent kidney failure, and elevated cardiovascular (CV) risk (marked by a history of CAD or PAD, or non-haemorrhagic non-lacunar stroke OR diabetes mellitus OR age ≥65 years).
