Filter by:The present project aims to investigate the effects of lumbar strengthening training combined with photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT) on functional and psychological aspects in young and older adults with chronic non-specific low back pain. We hypothesized that lumbar strengthening training combined with PBMT should promote greater improvement on functional and psychological variables compared to strengthening training alone (placebo PBMT).
COVID-19 infection produces thousands of hospital admissions in a very short period of time, including critical care patients. It is expected that those who survive a severe spectrum of the disease, will present some degree of health decline in the medium and long term, becoming chronic patients. Post-intensive care syndrome (PICS) was described by the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) as a new altered or worsening of physical, cognitive, or mental condition due to critical illness and persisting after hospitalization, including pain. Also, clinical features of infection include different types of pain, and if this pain persists, it can turn into a chronic condition. Chronic pain is a currently recognized disease, but under-treated in many cases, generating a significant deterioration in the quality of life of this patient. It is vitally important to generate early care circuits to detect and treat those expected complications, such as chronic pain in these patients. The objective of this study is to estimate the level of persistent pain and its impact on health-related quality of life after admission to an intensive care unit in patients who suffered this infection.
monocentric randomized controlled trial enrolment of endometriosis patients from certified endometriosis centers. Randomization to control group (no Endo App use) vs intervention group (Endo App use) 12 weeks use / no use of Endo App. Evaluation of quality of life at onset, at 4, 8 and 12 weeks by using endometriosis health profile (EHP) 5 as a global index. Statistical analysis of global index at the end minus global index at onset between control and intervention group.
Using weight training with virtual reality can help after discharge patients of acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, which maintained their quality of life, and improved their exercise capacity, pulmonary function, readmission condition.
This study is a randomized controlled and single-blind study consisting of qualitative and quantitative stages to evaluate the effect of aromatherapy massage on cramp frequency, cramp pain severity and quality of life in crampy hemodialysis (HD) patients.
The purpose of the study is to see whether or not a telephone/ text message intervention, delivered by a registered nurse, is helpful in managing symptoms and can also prevent dehydration caused by chemotherapy treatment when given together for patients with metastatic breast, colon, lung or prostate cancer.
Osteopenia is a clinical term to define the declined Bone Mineral Density (BMD) as per the normal reference values but not low enough to meet osteoporotic diagnostic criteria. A Dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) bone scan is used to diagnose decreased BMD. Osteopenia is, as described by the World Health Organization (WHO), a score ranging from -1 to -2.5, whereas Osteoporosis is diagnosed with values less than - 2.5. The risk of a decrease in BMD doubles as a woman goes into Menopause. The objective of this study will be to determine the effects of Kinect-based virtual reality training on BMD, fracture risk, physical function and Quality of life in postmenopausal women with Osteopenia. The aim of the present study is to translate the ECOS-16 Questionnaire into Urdu Language along with validation of the translated versions by evaluating its validity and reliability in the Postmenopausal women of Pakistan with Osteopenia or Osteoporosis and understanding Urdu Language. No such study has been previously conducted in the Pakistan region which translates the specific questionnaire and follows the proper cross-culture adaptation protocol.
In Turkey, 63% of geriatric people who make up approximately 8.3% of the entire population live in their own living environment, 36% live with their children and 1% live in nursing homes. The number of individuals living in nursing homes is increasing as the nuclear family structure becomes more evident. National Social Security programs give special importance to nursing home restructuring and Social Health Policy aims to increase practices related to "aging in place" and "Active and Healthy Ageing" for geriatric individuals. In this context, projects aimed at preventing secondary negative symptoms in aging and supporting the quality aging process are outstanding. The aim of this study is to assess and compare cognitive functions, balance, musculoskeletal pain severity, psychological state, participation level in activities of daily living, and quality of life of geriatric individuals living different environments.
Participants with constipation will take enzyme-rich malt extract for 4 weeks whilst completing a daily bowel habit diary before and during intervention.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of the Noom Healthy Weight Program, a digital behavior change weight loss intervention, on quality of life as measured both by self-report and objective measures, compared to a waitlist control condition.
