Filter by:Phase II prospective study or Palliative Radiotherapy of 25 Gy in 5 fractions, Intensity Modulated, for frail patients with incurable head and neck cancer. Comprehensive Quality of life (QLQ-C30, head and neck module, QLQ C15 PAL) and toxicity data (CTCAE v 4.0) collected.
This study evaluates the hyperfractionated IMRT in the treatment of patients with locally recurrent nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Half of participants will receive hyperfractionated IMRT, while the other half will receive conventional fraction IMRT.
The present study aims to assess the quality of life of patients suffering from tension-type headache (TTH) treated for 4 weeks with different manual therapy-based techniques. The study design involved a factorial, randomized, double-blind, controlled study
The primary purpose of this study is to examine whether a properly fitted support bra on females improves their quality of life post-sternotomy. Specifically, does a support bra reduce discomfort, pain and wound dehiscence.
A randomised controlled trial that will compare the effects of a brief benefit -finding writing intervention with an active control condition on quality of life and psychological health among informal caregivers.
Survivors of high grade brain tumours frequently experience increases in distress, cognitive challenges, and lessened quality of life. At the same time a range of barriers can make it challenging for these individuals to come into the clinic for appropriate psychosocial support. The proposed study is therefore a feasibility study that is designed to develop a manualized, remotely delivered psychosocial intervention for this population and then to test the acceptability, feasibility, apparent efficacy, and areas for improvement of the developed intervention. Further, a remote neuropsychological testing procedure will be developed and implemented and analogous questions will be asked around this procedure.
A diminution of quality of life is often reported by patients after coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery. A part of this diminution could be explain by postoperative left ventricular (LV) dysfunction. Exenatide (Byetta®) is an incretin mimetic, characterized by an anti-hyperglycemic effect that depends on the blood glucose level. Recent data have suggested that exenatide could improve LV function by an inotropic effect in patients suffering from cardiogenic shock or from congestive heart failure. Moreover, patients suffering from congestive heart failure reported a better quality of life when they were treated with exenatide compared to placebo. The investigators hypothesize that perioperative exenatide infusion could improve postoperative quality of life in CABG surgery patients.
The survey analyses how to improve the decision-making process for fertility preservation in the pediatric population based on 1. patient and parent feelings about fertility preservation counselling 2. influence of the emotional state of patients and parents on fertility preservation acceptance 3. support of medical staff and family The study revealed that attention to the fertility preservation pathways was important for the satisfaction of patient's and parent's expectations
Psychological well-being and cognitive function will be measured in patients enrolled on the primary study, NCT01790568, a phase 2 trial of vorinostat plus tacrolimus and methotrexate to prevent graft versus host disease following unrelated donor hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Validated questionnaires will be administered to assess patients' level of depression, anxiety, quality of life, perceived cognitive functioning, and sleep quality. Cognitive testing will include reliable and valid measures of processing speed, attention, executive function, episodic memory, and visual learning and memory. The purpose of this study is to determine whether these measures are feasible to administer in patients before and at early time points after bone marrow transplantation .
The aim of the study is to construct a register system of oral and maxillofacial malignant tumors based on a prospective, observational, real-world study in north Chinese population.
