Filter by:The proposed randomized controlled trial (RCT) evaluated the effect of acupuncture treatment on the functional capacity (FC) and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in stage 5 Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) patients receiving maintenance dialysis. A total of 60 end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients undergoing hemodialysis (HD) from a dialysis centre (Portugal), were randomly assigned to acupuncture, sham and control group.
Feedback Informed Treatment (FIT) is a systematic feedback method. FIT is based on two simple questionnaires and aims to assess and improve the effectiveness of therapeutic treatment. Treatment outcomes are assessed with the Outcome Rating Scale (ORS), a four-item self-report instrument measuring client functioning in the area of quality of life. Therapeutic alliance is assessed using the four-item Session Rating Scale (SRS). In FIT the feedback from the client is used to continuous adjustment and improvement of therapy. SFI will study the effect of using feedback in social work with floated support in the municipality of Copenhagen. Floating Support is a service that provides housing related support to vulnerable citizens to enable them to maintain their independence in their own home. The project is based on three different types of floating support. The aim of floating support is to improve the citizen's mental, physical and social well-being and thereby makes it more likely that the citizen can live independently at home. The study is a randomized controlled trial in which half of the caseworkers are allocated to be trained in the use of FIT, while the other half serves as a control group and will continue to work as usual. SFI is studying whether FIT can help to improve the impact of the floating support service on the citizen's mental, physical and social well-being and the citizens' likelihood of living in their own homes.
The purpose of the Health and Energy through Active Living Every Day (HEALED) intervention, is to examine the effect of a web-based intervention on changes in device-measured physical activity (light and moderate-to-vigorous intensity aerobic) and sedentary behavior. The purpose of this study is intended for survivors of a cancer with a 5-year survival (at Stage I, II, and III) of at least 45% that has a strong level of evidence for association with physical inactivity according to the 2018 PA Guidelines Advisory Committee Report (breast, colon, endometrium, kidney, bladder, multiple myeloma). In line with social cognitive theory behavior change techniques, participants will be provided information and skills necessary to be more physically active and less sedentary after a cancer diagnosis. New materials will be disseminated biweekly through a website open only to participants, and include at-home exercise demonstration videos, research news, discussion boards, success stories, infographics for exercise recommendations, etc.
The study investigated a six-week randomized controlled trial study in a small cohort of 16 family caregivers of individuals living with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. Family caregivers used assistive technology in the form of visual mapping software on smart devices in the experimental condition to support their care recipients in carrying out activities of daily living. Family caregivers in the control condition viewed educational videos about dementia care on their devices in supporting their individuals. The intervention was implemented for a total of 6 weeks. The investigators hypothesized that compared to the caregivers using educational videos, the caregivers using assistive technology will report improved quality of life and completion of activities of daily living for their care recipients, all the while reducing caregiver's burden and stress.
To Determine the Effect of Regular Aerobic Exercise Training on Severity of Premenstrual Syndrome Symptoms and Health-Related Quality of life on working women.Exercise can be used as an alternative therapy in reducing premenstrual symptoms. But still there is lack of Literature on PMS in work Place and effect of Treatments to improve overall Quality of life in working women. And this study aims to fill the gap by assessing the impact that Premenstrual Syndrome can have on working women's Quality of life and can be used to establish a model of regular exercise program with the potential to decrease premenstrual symptoms and improve quality of life for a menstrual health-friendly workplace environment for Female Employees.
To evaluate the feasibility of a pragmatic, large scale, comparative effectiveness, randomized evaluation of patient experience of intravenous propofol versus inhaled volatile anesthesia.
Enhancing independence and quality of life are key modifiable outcomes that are short- and long-term goals for children with Down syndrome (DS) and for their parents. The study investigated the efficacy of assistive technology in improving children with Down Syndrome's independence and quality of life. Using a commercially available assistive technology, the MapHabit system, the investigators implemented the software with participants' families for 4 weeks. The investigators hypothesized that the assistive technology will improve adaptive behavioral skills and overall quality of life.
Spinal deformities, such as scoliosis, can have a significant impact on the physical and psychological health of patients. Over time, specific tools for this condition have been developed to investigate the extent of this impact, such as the SRS-22 questionnaire and ISYQOL questionnaire. The latter was initially used for underage patients, but given that some of them continue their therapy and the monitoring beyond the age of 18, we have continued its use in these subjects as well. Given the clinical usefulness and given the lack of questionnaires developed in the Rasch environment for adults, we have extended the application of the ISYQOL questionnaire to the adult population. However, a comparison between the ISYQOL and SRS-22 in adults has not yet been made. The objective of this study is to verify the validity of ISYQOL and to compare the properties of ISYQOL with those of the SRS-22 questionnaire in adults with spinal deformity.
The present study aimed to investigate the effects of a Virtual Reality cognitive training intervention (VRCTI) on cognitive function changes measured with a cognitive test battery and improvement of quality of life in older adults with cognitive impairment in long-term care facilities. Weekly 1-hour sessions were implemented over 8 weeks targeting sustained and selective attention, memory, cognitive functions, and rule deduction. The passive control group received usual care.
Increase in the prevalence and survival rates has led to the assessment of disease activity and quality of life of SLE patients as targets in treatment. Cholecalciferol supplementation was considered as having a role in reducing disease activity and improving quality of life. This research was a double blind, randomized, controlled trial was conducted on female outpatients aged 18-60 years with SLE, consecutively recruited from September to December 2021 at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital. Sixty subjects who met the research criteria were randomized and equally assigned into the cholecalciferol and placebo groups. The study outcomes were measured at baseline and after 12 weeks of intervention. we measured he level of vitamin D before and after intervention, the disease activity by MEX-SLEDAI score and the quality of life by Lupus QoL
