This is a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, parallel group study to investigate the efficacy of pemziviptadil (PB1046) by improving the clinical outcomes in hospitalized COVID-19 patients at high risk for rapid clinical deterioration, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and death. The study will enroll approximately 210 hospitalized COVID-19 patients who require urgent decision-making and treatment at approximately 20 centers in the United States.

Pulmonary and Systemic Effects of Exposure to Wood Smoke

This is study is to assess pulmonary and systemic effects of exposure to wood smoke. Healthy volunteers will be expose under two different occasion to wood smoke and filtered air under two separated occasions with an interval of 3 weeks in-between. The aim of this study was to determine whether exposure to wood smoke from incomplete combustion would elicit airway inflammation in humans.

Modulation of Intestinal and Pulmonary Inflammation by Lactobacillus Diet Supplementation in Pediatric Cystic Fibrosis

Pulmonary inflammation is an independent risk factor for disease progression in cystic fibrosis patients (CF). Yet, no effective treatment is known to reduce this detrimental inflammation. Dysbiosis of the gut microbiota has been linked to inflammation in several inflammatory diseases. As children with CF have different faecal microbiota from their healthy siblings, modulating gut microbiota by lactobacillus rhamnosus diet supplementation might be a strategy to target the inflammatory state in CF. Study subjects (CF or healthy control) will receive either placebo or lactobacillus rhamnosus once daily as dietary supplementation for 12 weeks. After a one-week washout phase, they will be switched for another 12 weeks to the other trial arm. Effect on in intestinal and pulmonary inflammation as well as clinical outcome will be studied.

Phase 1 Study Assessing the Safety and Tolerability of CTX-4430

The purpose of this study is to assess the safety and tolerability of CTX-4430 capsules taken orally once daily in normal healthy volunteers. CTX-4430 is being developed to treat lung inflammation that occurs in cystic fibrosis (CF). This study includes two-parts: Part 1 assesses single dosing; and Part 2 assesses repeat dosing for 14 days. Each part will include several dosages. During the single-dose part of the study, following a 14-day washout period, two cohorts will be assessed for potential effects on tolerability when fed at the time of dosing. For both parts of the study, blood samples will be collected for PK assay validation.
