View clinical trials related to Pulmonary Embolism.
Filter by:Summary: The purpose of the study is to prove if the biomarker high sensitive troponin T (hsTnT) and the biomarker of endogenous stress copeptin can serve as surrogate parameter of prognosis in patients with elective knee and hip total endoprosthesis.
The patients presenting with acute pulmonary embolism and right ventricular dysfunction are at high risk for life-threatening events and must be identified in the emergency department for adequate care and hospital admission. Echocardiography can identify right ventricular dysfunction, but this test is not always available, and echocardiographic criteria of right ventricular dysfunction vary among published studies. The primary purpose of this protocol is to study the prognostic value of a cardiac biomarker, h-FABP (heart-type Fatty Acid-Binding Protein) , to identify in the emergency department the patients presenting with high risk pulmonary embolism. As secondary outcomes, H-FABP results will be compared to other cardiac biomarkers (BNP, troponin) and clinical score performances that have been previously studied to stratify the prognosis of patients with pulmonary embolism in the emergency department.
The purpose of this study is to determine the prevalence of pulmonary embolism in our population of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) patients admitted to hospital with dyspnea. The patients will undergo investigation for pulmonary embolism, according to current guidelines.
The Bard® Denali™ Retrievable Inferior Vena Cava (IVC) study is a prospective, multi-center study which is intended to provide evidence of safety of the placement and retrieval of the Bard® Denali™ Retrievable Inferior Vena Cava Filter in subjects requiring IVC interruption to protect against pulmonary embolism (PE).
The WARFARIN Study is a clinical trial designed to determine if the use of genetic information related to warfarin sensitivity can help create a dose of warfarin that will result in less hospitalizations and deaths related to warfarin.
Lybrel® is an oral contraceptive that delivers low doses of levonorgestrel and ethinyl estradiol (90 μg/20 μg). Lybrel is taken on a continuous basis without a placebo or pill-free interval to inhibit menstrual cycle bleeding by delivering a steady level of the 2 hormones for as long as the drug is used. Lybrel was marketed in the US in July of 2007. The objective of this database case-control study is to estimate the risk of idiopathic VTE (deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism) in current users of Lybrel (ethinyl estradiol 20ug/levonorgestrel 90ug) compared to current users of other oral contraceptives containing 20μg of ethinyl estradiol.
This is a prospective, controlled observational trial of patients undergoing clinically indicated cardiothoracic computed tomography (CT), including pulmonary or aortic angiography and coronary CT angiography (CCTA).
Computed tomography pulmonary angiography (CTPA) is the imaging method of choice to rule out acute pulmonary embolism based on its high sensitivity and specificity. Unfortunately, CTPA uses iodinated contrast media and can provoke contrast induced nephropathy. On the other hand, Computed tomography uses ionising radiation and is responsible for the half of the radiation exposure coming from medical sources. Recent studies have proven that low-dose CTPA protocols using Computed tomography tube energy of 80 kVp and reduced volume of iodinated contrast media provide an increased vessel signal and good image quality at a significantly reduced patient exposure. However, there are no data on the sensitivity of low-kVp protocols. The aim of this prospective randomized trial is to detect any difference between a normal-dose and a low-dose CTPA protocol in the diagnostic accuracy in the detection of acute pulmonary embolism (PE).
The purpose of this study is to determine whether a limited duration of treatment (two weeks of low molecular weight treatment) is a safe and effective treatment for distal deep vein thrombosis of the lower limb.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the capacity of some novels biomarkers Procalcitonin (PCT), Midregional Proadrenomedullin (MR pro ADM), Midregional pro-atrial natriuretic peptide (MR pro ANP), Copeptin (CT pro arginine vasopressin), Pro endothelin to stratify the risk in severe dyspnea.
