Filter by:There have been calls from patients, payers, healthcare providers, and policy makers for an evaluation of newer, high-cost radiation technologies compared to conventional forms of radiation therapy. National attention has focused on the use of intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) into routine daily clinical practice for prostate cancer. The goal of the present study is to determine whether the type of radiation treatment received by the patients can result in a reduction in patient-relevant side effects following prostate irradiation. The analysis will be performed by obtaining patient answered surveys looking at side effects.
This is an investigator-initiated phase II single arm trial, combining neoadjuvant apalutamide (ARN509) with radical prostatectomy, in the treatment of D'Amico intermediate to high risk organ-confined prostate cancer. Apalutamide has shown efficacy in castrate resistant prostate cancer in phase II studies and are now in phase III trials combined with radiation in organ confined disease. The primary study objectives include assessment of (i) oncological efficacy as determined by tumour downstaging and achievement of nadir PSA The secondary study objectives include(i) determination of adverse effects related to apalutamide and surgical complication rates (ii) human prostate tissue effect of apalutamide The study will recruit thirty eligible participants who will receive 12 weeks of oral apalutamide 240mg daily. This will be followed by standard-of-care radical prostatectomy. The total trial duration is 26 weeks.
This phase I trial studies the best dose and side effects of niclosamide when given together with enzalutamide in treating patients with castration-resistant prostate cancer that has come back or has spread to other places in the body. Androgens can cause the growth of prostate cancer cells. Hormone therapy using enzalutamide may fight prostate cancer by lowering the amount of androgen the body makes and/or blocking the use of androgen by the tumor cells. Niclosamide may block signals that enhance prostate cancer cell growth. Giving enzalutamide and niclosamide may work better in treating patients with castration-resistant prostate cancer.
This pilot research trial studies the collection of serum samples in studying emotional stress in patients with prostate cancer. Studying serum samples from patients with prostate cancer in the laboratory may help doctors determine if levels of epinephrine and cortisol, substances the body makes when stressed, rise or fall with how patients are feeling and/or if those levels are related to clinical information related to prostate cancer.
This is a Phase I, open-label, parallel design study of PAN-301-1 (SNS-301), a HAAH directed nanoparticle vaccine, given intradermally in cohorts of patients with biochemically relapsed prostate cancer, using a fixed dose escalation schema every 21 days.
This phase II trial studies how well gallium Ga 68-labeled gastrin-releasing peptide receptor (GRPR) antagonist BAY86-7548 (68Ga-RM2) positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) works in detecting regional nodal and distant metastases in patients with intermediate or high-risk prostate cancer. 68Ga-RM2 PET/CT scan may be able to see smaller tumors than the standard of care CT or magnetic resonance imaging scan.
This pilot clinical trial studies how well acceptance and commitment therapy works in improving well-being in patients with stage III-IV cancer and their partners. Learning how to accept negative thoughts and feelings and how to live in the present without worrying about the future or past may improve coping skills in patients with stage III-IV cancer and their partners.
The aim of this study is to investigate the safety and efficacy of prostatic artery embolization of patients with recurrent symptoms secondary to locally advanced prostatic cancer including pelvic pain, bleeding or need for permanent urinary catheter who are unfit for or refuse surgical treatment.
