SGLT2 Inhibitors in Patients With PCOS

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrine disorder, with a prevalence of 5% to 15% in premenopausal women. Patients with PCOS presents as abnormal menstruation, ovulation disorders and/or hyperandrogenemia, and often accompanied by insulin resistance and other metabolic abnormalities. Metformin has been clarified as an option in patients with PCOS. However, the clinical responses to metformin are limited and different. Sodium glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors are novel drugs for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, with weight loss, reducing insulin resistance and cardiovascular benefits. Limited data is available on the efficacy of SGLT2 inhibitors in patients with PCOS.

Abdominal fat accumulation, overweightness and obesity are frequently present in patients with PCOS . Visceral adipose tissue (VAT) plays an important role in the pathogenesis of PCOS.Therefore,this study aim to investigate the changes of body fat distribution in obese women with PCOS after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG), and to explore the factors that may predict the changes in body fat distribution in PCOS patients after LSG.

Repeated Doses of GnRH Agonist as Oocyte Triggering in Antagonist Protocol for Patients With Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

This is a prospective, randomized, proof-of-concept study, designed to compare the IVF results in patients diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) defined as per the ESHRE/ASRM Rotterdam criteria (2003) undergoing in-vitro fertilization/ intracytoplasmic sperm injection (IVF/ICSI) in antagonist protocol. Patients were randomized into two groups. Group A: single dose of GnRHa 0.2 mg, 35 h prior to oocyte retrieval, and Group B: 0.2 mg GnRHa 35 h prior to oocyte retrieval + a repeat dose of 0.1 mg 12 h following the 1st dose. 12 h post-trigger, luteinizing hormone (LH), progesterone (P4) values will be estimated.

For this purpose, 180 participants will be recruited in three intervention arms (Probiotic, Placebo and Metformin), with 60 participants per arm. The intervention period will last 6 months, with extensive medical history, blood work, urine and stool analysis at the beginning and the conclusion of the trial.

Time-restricted Feeding for Treating Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)

Intermittent fasting is an increasingly popular diet pattern of alternating eating and dieting.One particular form of intermittent fasting is the so-called time-restricted feeding (TRF). TRF allows for ad libitum feeding within a large window of time each day, and does not require any calorie counting. There is growing evidence that it can lose weight, reduce insulin resistance and improve cardiometabolic health. Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most common reproductive endocrine and metabolic disease affecting women of childbearing age. PCOS shows anovulation or oligoovulation, hyperandrogenemia and ovarian polycystic changes. Insulin resistance and obesity are common features of PCOS. Whether the TRF impacts women with PCOS is still unknown due to the paucity of data in this area. To explore the effects of TRF on the endocrine and metabolic profile in overweight women with PCOS, a 6-week single-arm trial, divided into 2 consecutive periods: (1) 1-week baseline period; and (2) 5-week TRF period, will be implemented.

The main objective of this study was to investigate the impact of individual counseling programs which has been designed from the Transtheoretical Model (TM) suggesting a healthy diet and physical activity for the students diagnosed with PCOS in the management of their syndrome. The data for the analysis was drawn from a sample of 854 students at first and a totally of 67 students were administered the scales. The control (N=33) and experimental groups (N=34) were formed based on a simple randomization technique.
