Video Game-based Therapy for Arm Weakness In Progressive Multiple Sclerosis

Participants will receive intensive therapy through a video game in their own homes for 1 month. The game is operated by movements of the body (no controller needed) and acts like a virtual therapist. Participants will agree to play the game for 30 hours. They will also receive 4 home visits from a therapist designed to increase use of their arm for daily activities that are important to them. Participants will also receive a smart watch that will measure use of their weaker arm and alert them when their arm is not participating in activities. Arm strength and function will be measured before and after the therapy program.

The main objective of this study is to compare the interpretation of health news items reporting results of pre-clinical studies with or without spin (i.e., distortion of research results). The news items which reported those studies evaluating the treatment effect either in cell culture studies or animal studies, have high number of spin in the headline and text and received high online public attention will be selected. Spin will be deleted and will rewrite the news items without spin. This sample of news items reporting results of pre-clinical studies with and without spin will be interpreted by English-speaking patients.

Incidence and Severity of Diarrhea in Patients With HER2 Positive Breast Cancer Treated With Trastuzumab and Neratinib

This phase II trial studies the incidence and severity of diarrhea in patients with stage II-IIIC HER2 Positive breast cancer treated with trastuzumab and neratinib. Trastuzumab is a form of targeted therapy because it attaches itself to specific molecules (receptors) on the surface of cancer cells, known as HER2 receptors. When trastuzumab attaches to HER2 receptors, the signals that tell the cells to grow are blocked and the cancer cell may be marked for destruction by the body's immune system. Neratinib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Giving trastuzumab and neratinib may work better in treating patients with stage II-IIIC HER2 positive breast cancer.

Multicenter Analysis of Oral Anticoagulant-associated ICH - Part Two

Intracerebral hemorrhage [ICH] is the most feared complication of oral anticoagulation [OAC], yet therapeutic strategies are limited reflected by overall weak guideline recommendations. Studies investigating acute interventions especially in patients with ICH taking non-vitamin-K-oral-anticoagulants [NOAC] remain inconclusive. Further, acute management issues in OAC-ICH patients (hematoma evacuation surgery, prevention of acute thromboembolic events, intraventricular fibrinolysis) still need to be investigated. Therefore, this observational study (RETRACE-II) represents the follow-up investigation to RETRACE (German-wide Multicenter Analysis of Oral Anticoagulant-associated Intracerebral Hemorrhage, study-period 2006-2010, NCT01829581), now spanning a study-period from 2011 until 2015 with 19 participating tertiary care centers nation-wide in Germany. Data pooling of the two RETRACE studies, altogether including more than 2500 patients treated at 22 centers over a 10 year period will allow statistically appropriate analyses of different outcomes.

Patients with severe Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and low oxygen levels in the blood are at risk of developing pulmonary hypertension and strain on the right side of the heart, both of which are known to increase symptoms and worsen prognosis It is not fully established whether interval exercise training in patients with severe COPD and concomitant low oxygen levels is beneficial. This study aims to evaluate the effects of aerobic interval exercise training in patients with severe COPD and low oxygen levels in the blood, with a particular emphasis on such effects on the cardiovascular system and pulmonary circulation.
