This phase II trial studies how well mirvetuximab soravtansine works as first line in treating patients with triple negative breast cancer. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as mirvetuximab soravtansine, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading.

Prior to the completion of biomedical research, any person undergoing it must receive a readable and intelligible information about this research, in order to give free and informed consent. The willingness to inform patients of all risks and constraints related to research may be in contradiction with the need to write informative and concise documents that are understandable to research participants. As a result, consent forms are long, contain a lot of information and are complicated to understand. The objective of this study is to evaluate the impact of the readability of the information and consent forms on the understanding of the information received by participants in clinical trials.

ARC -Access to Resources in the Community

Some people living with health problems require extra support to properly manage their conditions, as family doctors are only able to spend limited time in the office with these patients. There are many resources and programs in the community that can provide the necessary time and support for these patients, yet many patients are unaware that such resources exist. Patient navigators have been shown to be useful in helping patients with certain conditions (such as cancer) to get to the resources they need, especially when they have social challenges that make it difficult for them to reach these programs (for example, language or transportation barriers, poverty, or poor social support). This study will look at how helpful Navigators are to link patients at family doctors' offices to community resources. To do this, family doctors' offices in Ottawa will be recruited. All offices will receive training on referring patients to community resources, and half of these (intervention) will have a Navigator assigned to the practice. This study will assess whether access to a Navigator increases patients' access to community social and health services. In addition, the study aims to understand whether English and French speaking individuals are as likely to benefit from a Navigator in accessing community health and social services in the language of their choice.

Effect of Ticagrelor and Clopidogrel on Coronary Microcirculation in Patients With Acute Myocardial Infarction

Of the patients diagnosed with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) who underwent reperfusion therapy and have thrombolysis in myocardial infarction (TIMI) 3 flow, about 40% have flow alterations in the coronary microcirculation, which leads to worse remodeling of the left ventricle with a consequent increase in the mortality of this population. Clopidogrel is the only known antiplatelet medication that brings benefits to the coronary microcirculation. Ticagrelor is significantly superior to clopidogrel in terms of decreasing mortality. The main objective of this study is to compare the effect of ticagrelor versus clopidogrel on the coronary microcirculation by the Myocardial Perfusion Score Index (MPSI) obtained using Microbubble Contrasted Echocardiography (MCE) in patients who have STEMI and treated with thrombolysis.

Effects of Probiotic on Modulation of the Intestinal Microbiota in Constipated Patients

The probiotic for oral use, Probiatop®, consists of Lactobacillus acidophilus NCFM, Lactobacillus rhamnosus HN001, Lactobacillus paracasei LPC-37 and Bifidobacterium lactis HN019. Its activity will be compared with placebo (Maltodextrin). The metagenomics data will be correlated with the Quality of Life Questionnaire answers obtained from participants with intestinal transit problem. The Increase in the number of evacuations, as well as the improvement of complaints related to intestinal transit alteration will be evaluated during the study. The participants will use probiotic or placebo for a period of 28 days and the gastrointestinal function questionnaire and collect stool will be performed before the study and after period of treatment

Treatment Plan for an Individual Patient With Pasireotide for Hyperinsulinemic Hypoglycemia

Somatostatin analogues are a last resort for medical intervention in hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia (HH). The hypoglycemia is very debilitating and can be even life threatening. There is limited experience with pasireotide in hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia (only one publication); there is more experience with octreotide, both in adults and children successful interventions with octreotide in hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia have been published. Pasireotide via its different somatostatin receptor binding profile has clear effects on insulin, glucagon and incretin secretion and can ultimately lead to hyperglycemia. This mode of action (especially the effects on insulin and incretin secretion) could be very useful in the setting of hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia.

A Study to Identify Biomarkers of Hypoglycaemia in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes

Glucose is a sugar carried in the blood stream that body uses for energy. If someone has diabetes, blood glucose level can be erratic, sometimes becoming very low this is called Hypoglycaemia (or a "hypo"), and can happen when blood glucose levels drop below 4 mmol/l. So far in order to prove that a hypo happened for a patient, blood glucose level can only be measured at time of the hypo and not after it. In this study we are trying to identify certain chemical substances (biomarkers) in diabetic patients that may be measured in blood tests of the patient up to after 24 hours of the hypo and if we could prove that a hypo has happened we could adjust tablets and or insulin dosage in a way to prevent further hypos. The study will be conducted in the Diabetes Centre in Hull Royal Infirmary and will involve three visits to the diabetes centre. The study can finish in a week time after the first visit. Visit 1 is the screening visit to identify eligibility to take part in the study. Visit 2 insulin infusion will be given to make participants blood sugar level fall lower than normal for a short time and corrected quickly afterward. This is a stress for participant's body and should stimulate certain chemicals that we are trying to identify during hypo. In Visit 3, the main purpose of this visit which is done 24 hours after insulin infusion is to take a blood sample and check how participants is after visit 2. We will recruit 25 Type 2 Diabetic patients and 25 none diabetics to compare both results. Both groups should not have ischemic heart disease, underactive thyroid or seizures and on stable dosage of medications.
