The cause of temporomandibular joint disorders remains unknown. It is considered multifactorial and includes physical (peripheral) and psychosocial (central) factors. It has been showed an association: a steeper condylar path, flatter lateral anterior guidance, and habitual chewing on the symptomatic side. This finding argues the possibility of causation of some of these characteristics. This double blind longitudinal study aims to assess if the presence of one habitual chewing side could contribute to temporomandibular joint disorders over time. Method. Young adults with no signs or symptoms of TMD will be assessed. Participants with one chewing side (observed and interview); with steeper condylar path and lower lateral guidance angles will be considered consistent one side chewers, and this side will be considered more susceptible to suffer TMD. Mouth opening, hemispheric dominance and hemimandibular retrognathia will be considered as secondary pre-specified outcomes. Four years later, both TMJs of each participant presenting signs and/or symptoms will be evaluated according to DC/TMD.

Using Ultrasound to Study Respiratory Muscle Function in Critically Ill Patients

Mechanical ventilation can be life saving strategy for patients with respiratory failure due to a variety of reasons. Once the underlying illness has resolved, intensive care doctors have to take a decision on when the patient is safe to get off the ventilator or be extubated. They use clinical assessment of the patient's ability to breathe spontaneously and make use of some breathing parameters to make the judgment. Most of the time, a patient can come off the ventilator and do well, but sometimes muscle weakness from sickness can affect the patient's ability to breathe adequately once ventilator support is discontinued. If that occurs, the patient may have to be put back on the ventilator and the physician will suggest some changes to help muscles get stronger. A simple, non-invasive test that can assess respiratory muscle state before taking patients off the ventilator to see if their muscles look healthy can help distinguish which patients may not be ready to be extubated. There are currently several tests available to assess muscle strength, in particular muscles that help in breathing like the intercostal muscles and diaphragm. The study will test the use of Ultrasonography (Ultrasound) as a non-invasive test to assess the muscles of respiration. This test will also help the investigators test physical therapies and interventions of mechanical ventilation that can help patients strengthen the muscles while waiting for extubation.

Influence on Food Liking of Adding Spices to Replace Sugar Using CLT

This study aims to reduce the amount of sugar in a particular food item and add spices to see if the food liking of that item rates as high or higher in a post meal survey. Through taste testing of the menu items (using sequential monadic CLT methodology) the investigators will determine an opinion of the participants. Results of these surveys will determine whether participants enjoy the reduced sugar options as much as their full sugar counterparts.

Craniopharyngioma is a rare, benign central nervous system tumor, which may be a source of multiple complications, from endocrinology to vision, neurology and neurocognitive functions. This morbidity can lead to reduced participation in life activities, as described in the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF). The primary objective of this study is to measure participation in life activities in a population of children affected by childhood craniopharyngioma, using the assessement of life habits questionnaire (LIFE-H questionnaire), validated as a social participation measurement tool in various pediatric disabilities.

Dextrose Containing Fluid and the Postoperative Nausea and Vomiting in the Gynecologic Laparoscopic Surgery

The investigators tested the hypothesis that administration of intravenous dextrose as a maintenance fluid in gynecologic laparoscopic surgery would reduce the incidence and severity of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) compared with normal saline solution in the same dose. A prospective randomized double blinded controlled study was conducted. Eighty six participants were randomized to dextrose solution (n= 42) or normal saline solution (n= 44). The Bellville postoperative nausea and vomiting scores were recorded until 24 hours after surgery.

Investigation of Sugammadex in Outpatient Urological Procedures

The goal of this clinical research study is to determine whether using sugammadex, given with a standard muscle relaxation drug during bladder surgeries, improves anesthesia conditions and recovery time. During some bladder operations, your muscles must be completely relaxed. Muscle relaxation drugs cause the muscles to relax, including the respiratory muscles, and as a result artificial ventilation is needed to help you breathe. Sugammadex and other standard drugs reverse the effect of the muscle relaxation drugs, allowing you to breathe on your own after the operation. Study Groups: If you agree to take part in this study, you will be randomly assigned (as in the flip of a coin) to 1 of 2 study groups. This is done because no one knows if one study group is better, the same, or worse than the other group: - If you are in Group 1, you will receive sugammadex to reverse the muscle relaxation. - If you are in Group 2, you will receive the standard of care (neostigmine/glycopyrrolate) to reverse the muscle relaxation. You and the surgeon will not know which group you have been assigned to. However, the anesthesiologist and study staff will know. Length of Study: You will be on study for up to 1 week after the cystoscopy. If you are unable to have the procedure performed, you may be taken off study early. This is an investigational study. Sugammadex and neostigmine/glycopyrrolate are all FDA approved and commercially available to reverse muscle relaxation. The comparison of these drugs is investigational. Up to 50 participants will take part in this study. All will be enrolled at MD Anderson.

The primary objective of this trial is to assess the effect of probenecid on the pharmacokinetics (PK) of single-dose pexidartinib in healthy subjects. Secondary objectives are to assess the safety and tolerability of pexidartinib alone and in combination with probenecid. Participants will be confined to the clinic for approximately 32 days. Blood samples will be collected for PK analysis of pexidartinib and metabolites at predose and up to 312 hours (h) post dose.

Cutaneous Anesthesia of the Lateral Femoral Cutaneous Nerve

The purpose of this study is to investigate and describe the anatomical differences in distribution of the blocked area following a perineural LFCN (Lateral Femoris Cutaneous Nerve) block with either 8 ml or 16 ml of Ropivacaine, in relation to incision lines used in THA (Total Hip Arthroplasty). Furthermore, we examine any loss of motor function in Musculus Quadriceps due to posible involvement of the Femoral Nerve. This trial will be conducted in healthy volunteers, as a blinded, randomized, paired trial.
