Filter by:Electrochemotherapy (ECT) with Bleomycin in non-operable advanced vulva carcinoma
Quadriceps muscle weakness is a common consequence following anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury and reconstruction. Maximizing quadriceps strength following ACL injury is significant as diminished quadriceps strength has been linked to the osteoarthritis that affects over 50% of surgically reconstructed limbs. Given that knee joint health following ACL injury is predicated on restoring quadriceps strength, identifying treatment approaches capable of improving strength is paramount. Blood flow restriction training (BFRT) is a method where oxygen to the muscle is intentionally reduced during exercise/rehabilitation and may lead to more timely and substantial strength gains. In the proposed project, we will examine the efficacy of BFRT in patients who have undergone ACL reconstruction and suffer from substantial quadriceps weakness.
This study is designed to examine the incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting during 24 hours after elective laparoscopic cholecystectomy in patients receiving preoperative intravenous fluid loading (group F), ondansetron (group O) and receiving neither fluid nor ondansetron or control group (group C).
Heart failure often causes fluid to accumulate in the body, leading to congestion and swelling. However, some people who have had heart failure for a long time seem to have very little congestion or swelling, even when the heart failure is poorly treated. The investigators think that this is because lymphatic vessels are able to grow and remove fluid to prevent congestion. The investigators do not know how lymphatic vessels grow. This study will investigate the blood levels of various proteins to try to figure out how the lymph vessels of people with long-standing heart failure might grow.
The principal study goals are to determine if a randomized control trial would be feasible, particularly with regards to i) recruitment and retention of parents of children having a diagnosis or a suspicion of diagnosis of DCD, and ii) parents' utilization of the teleintervention. The study will also examine quantitatively and qualitatively families' acceptability of- and satisfaction with the teleintervention.
A new psychological trauma treatment method is tested on a population (n 100) of adult women who have been sexually traumatized at one specific time 0-5 years before they enter the study.
The investigators hypothesize that this combination regimen of irinotecan plus ramucirumab administered as second line treatment will be tolerated and lead to improved outcomes similar to paclitaxel plus ramucirumab in patients with advanced gastric and gastro-esophageal junction (GEJ) cancers. This study proposes a phase II clinical trial with irinotecan plus ramucirumab for treatment of patients with metastatic gastric and GEJ adenocarcinoma who have progressed after first line chemotherapy. To the knowledge of the investigators, this regimen has not been previously administered to this patient population, so safety and tolerability will be monitored and reported.
The prenylflavonoids 6-prenylnaringenin (6-PN) and 8-prenylnaringenin (8-PN) are secondary plant substances, almost exclusively found in hops (Humulus lupulus). Both compounds have known potential biological properties, but poor bioavailability due to their low oral absorption and retention. Our study followed a single dose (500 mg 6- or 8-PN), placebo controlled, randomized, double-blind, three armed crossover study design with ≥2-week washout periods. Plasma, PBMC and urine samples were collected at intervals up to 24 h after intake. Investigators investigated the safety, pharmacokinetics and impact of oral prenylflavonoids on the function of cells of the immune system.
Ventilator-induced diaphragmatic dysfunction appears to contribute to slow weaning from mechanical ventilation. Several trials of inspiratory muscle training to facilitate weaning in intensive care have been performed, with inconsistent results, utilizing different methods of IMT in different populations. To perform the best IMT program, we need to know the physio-pathology of the diaphragm in difficult to wean patients. This study proposes to discriminate the two main characteristics of the inspiratory muscles: strength and endurance. By analyzing the evolution of strength and endurance during all the weaning period, we want to know which characteristic has the more deficiency to adapt in a second time an effective program of IMT.
Urinary tract infections are among the most prevalent microbial diseases and their financial burden on society is substantial. The use of bacteriophages against bacterial pathogens has gained over the last years a renewed interest, because of the continuing increase in antibiotic resistance worldwide. Thus, the aim of this study is to investigate the efficacy of intravesical bacteriophage treatment to normalize urine culture compared to intravesical placebo or standard antibiotic treatment in a randomized controlled trial following a pilot phase.
