Filter by:Adolescence and young adulthood is a critical period for the development of social anxiety, which is often linked to other mental health challenges such as depression, mood disorders, and substance abuse. Initial evidence suggests that interacting with animals can reduce stress and anxiety, but no research has tested whether this benefit extends to adolescents at risk for social anxiety disorder. Additionally, researchers and clinicians do not understand what mechanism is responsible for anxiety reduction in animal-assisted interventions (AAIs). Therefore, the objectives of this study are to explore the specific mechanisms by which interacting with a therapy dog reduces anxiety, and to test whether such an interaction reduces anxiety in adolescents with varying levels of social anxiety.
This is an open label, dose escalation study to evaluate the safety and tolerability of KN035 in Japanese patients with advanced and metastatic solid tumor. The dose escalation will follow the widely used 3+3 design.
This study includes designing, implementing and evaluating the effectiveness of process-based measures for improving interprofessional collaboration in Norwegian primary schools (5-7th grades). Focusing on leadership and organizational development, the overarching aim is to improve the use of existing interprofessional competence within schools. The interventions include meetings at municipal-level (strategic), school-level (operative) and class-level (operative), with feedback procedures to ensure communication between and within all levels. Also school internal and school external collaborators are involved at all levels of intervention. In order to avoid contradictory roles, an implementation team is responsible for developing and implementing the intervention, while the research team conduct an independent evaluation. The model will be evaluated by a cluster-randomized design to evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention. The hypothesis is that schools that utilize the process-based intervention (intervention group) will improve their interprofessional team work in a way that enhances the pupil's learning- environment and teachers professional competence, self-efficacy and efficient use of working hours compared to their counterparts in the control group. We anticipate main effects to be found at pupil level, mainly through improved early assessment, intervention and efficient follow-up. The project is a collaboration between four Norwegian municipalities and includes a total of 37 Schools, half of which will be randomized to experimental condition and half to control condition. The project is financed by The Norwegian Directorate for Education and Training with a duration of three years and three months. The project is led by Professor Ira Malmberg-Heimonen. The project is a collaboration between Faculty of Social Sciences and the Work Research Institute (AFI), at Oslo and Akerhus University College of Applied Sciences. Participants in the project are Ira Malmberg-Heimonen (project leader), Anne Grete Tøge, Therese Saltkjel, Knut Fossestøl, Elin Borg and Selma Therese Lyng. Amateur female golfers were randomized to either a functional weight lifting group or a traditional weight lift group. Testing, consisting of performance measures and golf measures, was performed at baseline and after 10 weeks of weight lifting.
In STEMI patients undergoing PPCI there is a delayed onset of action of oral P2Y12 receptor inhibitors, including prasugrel and ticagrelor. Crushing prasugrel and ticagrelor improves their PK and PD profiles as it favors drug absorption and onset of antiplatelet effects and because of this, it is commonly used in STEMI patients undergoing PPCI. However, despite the use of crushed tablets, up to one-third of patients may still have high on-treatment platelet reactivity (HPR) within the first 2 hours after loading dose (LD) administration of these oral agents. Cangrelor is a potent intravenous P2Y12 receptor inhibitor with rapid onset and offset of action associated with a greater reduction in ischemic events compared with clopidogrel in P2Y12 receptor naïve patients undergoing PCI. To date most studies have explored cangrelor in the setting of PCI subjects treated with clopidogrel. The PD effects of cangrelor in STEMI patients undergoing PPCI treated with a newer generation P2Y12 receptor inhibitor and how this compares with a crushed formulation of the oral drug is unexplored. The aim of this prospective randomized study is to investigate the PD effects of cangrelor in STEMI patients undergoing PPCI treated with crushed ticagrelor.
Post extubation respiratory failure occur in 30% of extubated patients. More than 50% of them required reintubation. Noninvasive positive pressure ventilation (NIV) had been reported as an effective tool to prevent post extubation respiratory failure. Recently, high flow oxygen nasal cannula (HFNC) had been successfully used to prevent post extubation respiratory failure and prevent reintubation in comparable with NIV among post cardiothoracic surgery and high risk for reintubated patients. There was no information about HFNC versus NIV in prevention of reintubation among severe sepsis or septic shock patients.
The purpose of this study is to investigate and compare the acute effects of isolytic and static stretching training in individuals having subacromial impingement syndrome with glenohumeral internal rotation deficit. Isolytic group will receive isolytic stretching in modified cross body position. Static group will receive static stretching in modified cross body position. Stretching groups will be evaluated before and just after stretching exercise. Control group will receive no stretching. Control group will be evaluated for the first time and then will be waited until the duration of the stretching exercise program. Afterwards, second evaluation will be performed
Prospective comparative cohort study including 159 pregnant women at the third trimester recruited from the antenatal clinic at EL-Demerdash outpatient clinic, and followed up during the holy month of Ramadan (from 18th June To 16th July 2015). The patients recorded their pattern of fasting during Ramadan then grouped into three groups A, B, C regarding fasting state A- Non fasting group B- Partially fasting group C- Totally fasting group
The objective of this study is to confirm the noninferiority of the blood pressure lowering effect of fimasartan and evaluate its safety compared to perindopril in the elderly with essential hypertension.
Our objective is to establish pharmacological equivalence of intermittent and continuous infusion of cloxacillin during methicillin-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA) bone and joint infections (BJI). Twelve patients suffering MSSA BJI will receive both administration modalities and serum concentrations of cloxacillin will be determined after 3 days of II and 3 days of continuous infusion in a prospective, randomized, open-label, monocentric crossover study design.
