NCT ID: NCT03681145 Completed - Depression Clinical Trials

Youth to Text or Telehealth for Engagement in HIV Care

Y2TEC
Start date: August 15, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Youth To Text or Telehealth for Engagement in HIV Care (Y2TEC) is a randomized control pilot to assess the feasibility and acceptability of delivering a targeted problem-solving intervention to youth ages 18-29 living with HIV (YLWH) for improving HIV care engagement, mental health, and decreasing substance use. The intervention will be delivered to participants in two condition groups in remote telehealth sessions delivered via video-conference over 4 months. Participation in the study will last about 8 months. The investigators hypothesize that the Y2TEC intervention will be feasible and acceptable for YLWH, and will result in improved HIV clinical outcomes. If feasible and acceptable, it can be scaled up for a multi-site randomized clinical trial and ultimately offered in the clinical care of YLWH.

NCT ID: NCT03680716 Completed - Postoperative Pain Clinical Trials

Combined Saphenous Nerve and IPACK Blocks Versus Infiltration Analgesia After Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction

Start date: November 1, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

A lot of patient have posterior knee pain after ACL reconstruction despite saphenous nerve block. Recently a new block has been described, know as IPACK block (interspace between the popliteal artery and the capsule of the posterior knee). The objective of this randomized controlled double-blinded trial is to assess whether a combined saphenous nerve block with IPACK block is more effective for the postoperative pain than a local infiltration analgesia.

NCT ID: NCT03680664 Completed - Anxiety Disorders Clinical Trials

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS)

Start date: November 8, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Ideal interventions for the older aged population would be those that are easily accessible and associated with minimal burden on family members, the healthcare system and the individuals themselves. Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) therapy and Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) are two interventions that may be effective in targeting cognitive deficits in individuals with anxiety, depression, and/or cognitive complaints. MBSR has been shown to decrease symptoms of depression and improve cognition and tDCS has been shown to improve cognition in the older aged population. The effectiveness of these two interventions combined to elicit changes in cognition has yet to be demonstrated. Therefore, the overall aim of the current research is to evaluate the efficacy of a combination of MBSR and tDCS to improve cognitive function in individuals with cognitive complaints and symptoms of anxiety and/or depression. This will be a randomized pilot study. Sixteen individuals (separated into 2 groups of 8) will be randomized to receive a combination MBSR + active tDCS or MBSR + sham tDCS over 8 weeks. Participants will visit the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) once per week for in-class group sessions and will complete the intervention daily at home for the duration of the study. Participants will be aged 60 and older with cognitive complaints, with symptoms of anxiety and/or depression. Participants will be trained to self-administer tDCS and given guidelines for the completion of daily MBSR activities at home. It is hypothesized that the combination of active tDCS + MBSR will enhance cognition compared to the combination of sham tDCS + MBSR.

NCT ID: NCT03680352 Completed - Clinical trials for PK in Patients With Various Degrees of Renal Impairment

Pharmacokinetics of Cefepime and AAI101 in Subjects With Renal Insufficiency and Healthy Subjects

Start date: September 1, 2017
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

This is a Phase 1, multi-center, open-label, PK and safety study of a single dose of AAI101 in combination with cefepime in male and female subjects with mild renal impairment (Group 1, n = 6), moderate renal impairment (Group 2, n = 6), severe renal impairment (Group 3, n = 6), ESRD requiring dialysis (Group 4, n = 6), and normal renal function (Group 5, n = 6) as defined using the estimated value for creatinine clearance (CLcr) at Screening. The study consists of a 28-day screening period, followed by a single dose administration of AAI101 in combination with cefepime antibiotic on Day 1, an in house period (assessment period) and follow-up visit. All subjects will be confined to the study site from Day -1 (the day before dosing) until the morning of Day 3. The follow-up visits will occur on Day 7 (±2 days), on Day 14 (±2 days), and on Day 30 (±2 days), if the results of the safety hepatic assessments are abnormal on Day 14 (±2 days). Group 4 (ESRD requiring dialysis) will have 2 in-house periods (separated by at least 7 days), and will receive the single doses of AAI101 in combination with cefepime antibiotic once after dialysis and once before dialysis. The follow-up visit for Group 4 will occur on Day 7 (±2 days), on Day 14 (±2 days), and on Day 30 (±2 days), if the results of the safety hepatic assessments are abnormal on Day 14 (±2 days), counting from Day 1 of the second period.
