Filter by:The purpose of this study is to evaluate the immunogenicity and safety of Recombinant Human Papillomavirus Bivalent (Types 16,18) Vaccine (Escherichia coli) (HPV)and Measles Mumps and Rubella Combined Vaccine, Live(MMR)
The study aims to characterize the community burden (including the clinical features) and transmissibility of SARS-CoV-2 within the context of a functional antibody response. In addition,the study will assess the effect of the interaction of SARS-CoV-2 with influenza virus and RSV on disease severity and transmission dynamics. A household-level prospective cohort study will be conducted in one rural and one urban community located in Mpumalanga Province and North West Province, respectively. The study will be conducted for 12 months of intensive follow up (July 2020 to August 2021) with a post-intensive follow-up continuing for a further 16 months (until December 2022). Two hundred households; 1,000 study participants of all ages; will be randomly selected from a list of 327 hoseholds that participated and successfully completed a 10-months follow-up period in a study similar to that currently proposed, but directed at community burden and transmission dynamics of influenza, respiratory syncytial virus and other respiratory pathogens. Each household and household member will be enumerated and the HIV infection status and the level of immunosuppression of HIV-infected individuals will be assessed. Each household member will be followed twice per week during the intense follow-up period (12 months) of the study. During this period upper respiratory tract samples will be collected irrespective of presence of symptoms and data on key symptoms, healthcare seeking, hospitalization and death will be captured at each follow up visit. Respiratory samples will be tested by reverse transcriptase real-time polymerase chain reaction (rRT-PCR) for SARS-CoV-2, influenza and RSV, and selected samples will be cultured and sequenced. An infection risk questionnaire will be administered to all study participants at enrollment and every month thereafter. Sera will be collected at enrollment and every 2 months during the 12-month intense follow-up period from all participants. In addition, sera will be collected every 2 months for a further 6 months following the 12-month intense follow-up period from study participants that tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 by rRT-PCR on respiratory specimens at 14, 16 and 18 months and from all study participants at 18 months. Sera will be tested for the presence of SARS-CoV-2, influenza and RSV antibodies. Wearable proximity sensors will be deployed for 8-12 days in each household over the 6-month intense follow-up period.
The purpose of this study is to study use of advance Digital Health Technologies (DHT) and its validity as measures for assessing progression in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) patients. A total of 80 ALS patients will be recruited across US, and will involve two sites - St. Joseph Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ, and Emory University ALS Clinic in Atlanta. This will be a fully remote observational study and will employ remote data collection platforms such as (a) A digital spirometry device powered by a mobile app will be used to measure vital capacity; (b) A clinical-grade voice recording app will be used to evaluate speech function; (c) A medical-grade wearable sensor will be used to monitor activity levels and sleep patterns; and (d) Standardized Electronic Clinical Outcome Assessments (eCOA) and Patient Reported Outcomes (ePRO) will be used to evaluate quality of life and cognitive abilities. The main goals of this study is to answer some of these questions: 1. Can ALS patients measure important aspects of disease progression at home, either by themselves with appropriate training or with assistance of a coordinators via virtual visit? 2. Which clinical outcome measures collected through DHT are sensitive indicators of ALS progression? 3. Are the measures reproducible and whether they can correlate with gold standard assessments? The results of this study have the potential to provide valuable information for designing future ALS trials that are more decentralized, more patient-centric, and require less visits to the clinic which typically become a major burden with disease progression
The overall objective is to study the safety, pharmacokinetics and efficacy of linsitinib (a small molecule IGF-1R inhibitor) administered orally twice daily (BID) vs. placebo, at 24 weeks in the treatment of subjects with active, moderate to severe thyroid eye disease (TED).
The aim of the study is to determine the effects of animation therapy on the main symptoms of Attention Deficit - Hyperactivity Disorder; hyperactivity, inattention and impulsivity.
Background: Due to the disease location and related treatments in head and neck areas following with concurrent chemoradiation therapy (CCRT), patients might suffer a series of acute distress and limit their physical activities. Limited physical activities might further cause dysfunction in both the upper body and general physical function. Purposes: This 3-year project will be conducted for three folds, with the purposes to (1) longitudinally examine the upper body function (mouth open abilities/trismus, neck stiffness/flexibility, shoulder function, myofascial pain, and upper arm muscle strengths) and general physical fitness; and (2) develop a 20-week continuous exercise program and test of its effects on improving upper body function, general physical function, fatigue, and quality of life in operable HNC in the first year of being diagnosed as cancer. Method: The eligible subjects will be newly diagnosed operable HNC patients. For research purpose (1) (Phase 1), we will conduct the data collection for continuous and follow patients for 12 months (Pre-operation, post-op 1, 3, 6, 12 months,/ T1-T5, respectively) for fatigue, upper body function and general physical fitness, and quality of life. A total of 130 subjects are planned to be recruited based on the sample size calculation. For research purpose (2) (Phase 2), from the second year, the 20-week "Multi-Faced Continuous Exercise Program" will be developed and tested in newly diagnosed operable HNC patients, while compare to those standard care control group of their differences in preventing physical dysfunction and increasing physical function for a 20-week period on post-op 1, 3, & 6 months (T0-T2, respectively). Data will be analyzed by both descriptive analysis and the Generalized Estimating Equation (GEE). There will be 130 subjects in each group (N=260 total) based on power analysis principles. Expected Outcome: The results will increase our knowledge about the changes in physical activities, physical function, and dysfunction; and the levels of the effectiveness of a continuous exercise program on increasing head and neck cancer patients' physical function and quality of life.
This is a phase 1, open-label, single-arm study in Chinese patients with unresectable, locally advanced or metastatic solid tumor with KRAS G12C mutation, for which treatment with curative intent is not available. Patients must have a documented KRAS G12C mutation determined by tissue or liquid-based local testing. The PK profile of MRTX849 in Chinese patients will be evaluated after administration of a single and repeat oral doses of 600 mg BID. In the PK lead-in period, blood samples will be collected pre-dose and up to 96 hours post a single oral dose of 600 mg MRTX849. Following this lead-in period, patients will start the dosing regimen of 600 mg BID orally, and blood samples will be collected pre-dose and up to 12 hours after multiple doses of MRTX849 600 mg BID on Cycle 1 Day 8 (C1D8). Safety including AEs, ECGs, laboratory parameters and vital signs of each patient will be monitored throughout the conduct of the study. Disease response and progression will be evaluated in accordance with Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors version 1.1 (RECIST 1.1).
This is a monocentric prospective, randomized, double-blind placebo-controlled study. It is designed to evaluate the superiority of the rTMS over sham treatment of depressive symptoms in the context of dementia. It is aimed at a population ≥ 65 years old, with affective BPSD. We wish to recruit 44 participants, with an estimated rate of potential drop out of 20%. Patients will be randomly assigned to the sham or rTMS group. The sham stimulation reproduces the procedure in all the steps, has the same duration and differs exclusively by the device setting. After inclusion, both groups will receive 15 sessions distributed over 5 days a week for 3 weeks
A pilot study to evaluate the anti-tumor efficacy of this novel combined regimen (NP-101 TQ Formula plus nivolumab and ipilimumab) in the second-line setting for EP-NECA. NP-101 (TQ Formula) (TQ, C10H12O2) is the main bioactive component of the black seed (Nigella sativa, Ranunculaceae family) and has anti-oxidant, anti-angiogenic effects.
The mechanical intervention is treating aortic valve stenosis (AVS) which may be performed using the standard open surgical approach for aortic valve replacement (AVR) or transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). The key question of this study is to establish the difference in all-cause and cause-specific (cardiac vs noncardiac) mortality, all hospitalizations for heart failure within 24 months of follow-up, left ventricular reverse remodeling after adjustment for death, as assessed by means of the left ventricular end-diastolic volume (LVEDV), in patients who received the TAVI vs the standard surgical procedure for AVS.
